It only gives more will. Not XP
You dont need to run back to shrines. Just use the item that lets you go back to the last shrine. It will save you some time.

I set it to R2 and Down on the D-Pad so I instantly go back, then just start the trail again. No need to rest using this method for farming as well. Seems not many of us figured this out though lol

You can just got to the left side and through the window of the old house and you’ll land in a empty river bed. Then go up and take out the snake guy, then run down the road until you see another one and then take him out and his friend to the left. Should be three in total. Use item to warp back to shrine and repeat 🔁 much faster and easier than this.
I've been using the Outside the Forest one for farming thus far because I haven't reached Snake Trail yet. But when I do I'll be farming that. Quick question:

I level up just by killing everyone even if I die no need to rest your star i was at 31 points thishis guy at 24 lol i gad more without all this bull back and forward just play the game

Enjoy. Honestly you play dark souls games and this game isn't that hard. Only a few bosses I'm beginning chapters actually give a real challenge. Should be smooth runs for you. Wish I can stream but reviewing 2 games I am not allowed to show or talk about.
