There has been a lot of discussion about the single engine in the comments so I wanted to clarify... the jet thruster in the bow acts as the backup engine in case of emergency. It's a retractable Schottel SPJ 57 Pump Jet and AVALON can go as fast as 6 knots on just the thruster. Also, it's very common for long range commercial ships (cargo ships and tankers) to have a single engine. Cheoy Lee has a long history of building long range commercial vessels and they have been using Schottel systems on ships since the 1960s. It's a proven capability to ensure you are safe while also remaining incredibly efficient while operating the main engine. The CAT engine is also extremely reliable when maintained properly. This yacht's sister ship MARCO POLO has the same design and it traveled 30,000 nautical miles in her first two years without issue. AVALON has also been around the world without any emergencies. A single engine may sound concerning at first but I would 100% be comfortable crossing an ocean on this vessel. -Tony
One of the best GA plans I have seen on a yacht of this size. Great space utilisation and an impressive galley which is rare for a vessel of her size. Single engine is not an issue. There are more than 70,000 deep sea going vessels with one engine. These engines are made to last and they are reliable and easier to maintain. Thanks for the tour!!!
A very serious Explorer Yacht with wonderful wood work and very stylish Design Elements. But what i also have to mention is the calm, informative Moderation of this Tour and also the Consideration for the crew. Thank you very much.....
I love the way you point to things like wardrobes, tv’s and desks and then tell us what they are. Between me an you I think most people would know what they are on their own with just a vocal description
This is the third walk-through I've seen on this yacht; first as "Quing" and second when she just became Avalon. Her craftsmanship and materials used are amazing and beautiful but her layout is not to my taste and I don't think would be good for chartering, but I think it would be better as a liveaboard. I too am a person that is a strong believer in twin engines for redundancy and piece of mind. That being said, the odds of a Caterpillar 3512 marine diesel engine breaking down and leaving you stranded are similar to the odds of you winning the lottery! Cat 35 series diesels just don't break down...
I really didn't think it was going to be as nice inside as it is, its stunning. 11 years old too and it had more modern feel too it than some younger vessels. I can't see this facing any problems with selling. A wee addition to my original comment because I initially wrote the 1st part while still watching. Well done with your video mate, I really enjoy them because you allow us to see everything that you're looking at while some videos just tell you what they're seeing in certain areas. You also don't miss any details out, I think you cover just about everything. As for the vessel only having 1 engine, I wouldn't be concerned with this beauty, the engine room was immaculate and obviously kept in top condition.
She has an impressive second engine room in the bow, equipped with a 360-degree jet thruster that can be used as a backup engine, propelling the boat at 6 knots. It also includes a backup generator. Search for "Quin," the boat's old name, and you should find a 20+ minute video on TH-cam. You will also get to see the captain's cabin
Beautiful yacht inside and out, but a world explorer with only one engine? Hate to be stuck in the middle of the Atlantic during hurricane season with THE engine down!
Wow what an incredible yacht, this is a beauty, love all the colours and finishes and it as a great layout, so spacious everywhere. Thank you for a great tour Tony.
It is a great cost. However, if I were truly interested, I’d ask what the operating costs are. 11-12 crew and 6000 nm I’d guess costs from $1 million to $2 million a year depending on where it’s operating.
Спасибо тебе, Тони, за твою работу! Привет из России, от людей, которые не могут себе такого позволить. Но с радостью смотрят твои видео. ( и если ты не знал, - многие в России не хотят войны)
And many more of us in Europe don't want to fight our fellow men either. Politicians should be made to fight each other, not the people. They wouldn't be so quick to call for war if they were the ones that had to fight it.

@@jjaus Yeah, somebody didn't watch the whole vid, huh ?! What's cool about this Ron Holland design is that it's not only a separate propulsion system, it's in a separate part of the boat. Fire & prop issues are far more common than one of these big diesel engines failing. And fires are more likely in crowded tech spaces...y'know, the kind where there's two of everything...lol....
Most of the world’s cargo ships sail the ocean every day with just one main engine. A modern marine diesel is a very, very reliable engine. You have to really screw up to get stranded. And with satellite communications, help is rarely that far away. Again, unless you do something stupid.
@@Bill_N_ATX Yes, but there are (relatively) _lots_ of recent stories about engine failures or electronic failures on luxury yachts. And the 'test' for me for explorer yachts is how well they'd do around the Arctic or Antarctic.

Thank you for the tour. You get better every tour. My two critiques: I don’t like dining rooms that seat less than the passenger capacity; I also prefer a hot tub on the sun deck.
this is exactly what i would want on my yacht, a living room on the owners cabine beside the bedroom, for private space to not have to sit together with the guests all the time to watch tv etc.
I think the yacht reviewer needed to get a briefing on the features of the kitchen. This kitchen seemed to be a proper professional kitchen for long distance cruising with months at sea. Pointing a camera and saying this is the kitchen did not do it justice. Most European yachts have well appointed domestic level kitchens for a maximum of week at sea. This 46m Cheoy Lee has a proper chefs kitchen. A single engine worries me, what if the engine, transmission, drive shaft or propeller fails? Is there a Come Home emergency system?
Don’t take chances with your hearing. Always use defenders in noisy engine rooms. Just because your hearing was affected in the air force doesn’t mean you can be cavalier with it in your middle years. Deafness is very debilitating, especially socially. Great video and I enjoyed it. Thanks.
Beautiful boat ,Is it also in rental programs .Also I did notice when you opened door for engineers room there was paint bubbles around the handle. Great job .
Alright Tony hope you are OK,as you came out of the engine room area you mentioned the thing I was thinking all the way around your tour, what an amazing amount of yacht for the money wow! If you didn't know you wouldn't believe it's 12yrs old just a stunner, the furnishings and fittings are gorgeous with a great layout. Tony a great find and one to tour, thanks for bringing this one to us,all the best from Cornwall 🤗🖖✌️
@YachtAddiction Tony you do find some exceptional yachts so I have to commend you on that sir for sure, still got my fingers crossed that you will manage to snag that tour on a Gulf Craft Majesty 175 one day, keep up the good work 👍
Wonderful yacht. Designed by famous sailing naval architect Ron Holland, very handsome. Although the extensive use of zebrawood on the interior is dramatic, it makes the interior too dark for my taste. This yacht would be a grand vessel for a circumnavigation. Thanks for the tour.
$11,000,000 for this yacht seems really cheap. I know nothing about yachts, other than what I picked up from a couple of TH-cam vids, but the price for such a beautiful yacht seems like a supper deal. I saw a video of a 60-ish foot fishing yacht that went for $11,000,000 (it had two engines) and I thought it was a great buy, but this one is twice the yacht for a million less. Maybe it's the two vs. one engine difference?? Anyway, thanks for showing this beauty to us.
No problem! Both terms are used interchangeably to describe the hull or superstructure material. It’s normally easier to just say GRP. In this case the hull is steel and the superstructure (including the area with the grill) is the fiberglass material.
Beautiful in every possible way….However the fatal flaw is a single engine. I would never want to be in the middle of the Atlantic and have to recover from an engine issue.
I don't care how elaborate or how far you can get on it. Never ever. Ever ever leave port with only one engine. Especially when you have the means for two or three
Another amazing video! I love seeing walkthroughs of unique non-standardized yachts but the interior of this one is just a complete dark mess. Never a fan of owners suites on bridge decks. Why would they have that dinette in main salon but the main dining table only seats 8 when the yacht sleeps up to 11. Everything just seems laid out with little to no functional sense. Crew areas were very impressive though. Do keep the more unique super yacht vids coming though!
I feel that you should have waited until you had access to the entire yacht without the crew aboard, only because I believe you are showing this yacht to assist the owner in selling it? If I am wrong then please accept my apologies.
I know this is not an interior design channel, but I was disappointed to see that, from the interior, there’s no hint of the boat’s spectacular colour. Not even a lampshade or a cushion, never mind a sofa or a rug. Two chairs in the owners’ sitting room are vaguely reddy-brown, but their colour is so off, they must have been a mistake. Great video btw.
Any idea what kind of dark wood that is on the main deck? Very attractive. But you lost me at the owners head. Full wall mirror in the toilet room? Who wants to see themselves taking a dump? No. No. No.

My favorite yacht! Love it. It has color!!
It looked good on camera but was even more beautiful in person!
Hearing loss is cumulative so always wear ear protection. Only having one engine is a risk.
Wow. Really like the red hull.
I do too!
Qing!!!!! One of my favorite yachts!! I love this yacht.

I couldn't remember the name but did recognize the yacht.
Stunning yacht! Great layout and the decorator hit a home run.

Beautiful yacht inside and out, but a world explorer with only one engine? Hate to be stuck in the middle of the Atlantic during hurricane season with THE engine down!
That's a fair thing to consider. This yacht has successfully traveled around the world so the choice comes down to your comfortability with that risk.
I agree that is a big gamble
I read that the 360 degree bow thruster in the forward area can be used as an emergency engine and power the yacht at 6kts.
Almost every commercial vessel has one engine. All those bulk haulers etc.
No way in a yacht that size.
Wow what an incredible yacht, this is a beauty, love all the colours and finishes and it as a great layout, so spacious everywhere. Thank you for a great tour Tony.

Cheoy Lee makes some nice yachts, but I'd be cautious with a 'world explorer' that has but one engine. I'm definitely a 'need a backup' kind of guy.
The rotating bow thruster is an emergency engine and can propel at 6kts.

I do like this yacht, but it lacks the all essential Jacuzzi. Also if you lose one engine in a one engine set up, you are in deep trouble.
It probably has a smaller engine for emergency use, also you can use the 360° bow thruster.
Love this palace a lot !
This is a beautiful yacht and it honestly makes the $11,000,000 price tag not seem so extreme.
Excellent presentation..
