  • My Triumph is 3 years old and I am the 2nd owner. 5000 miles on the clock and I have done 200 of them since I purchased it in July 2023.
    00:00 Introduction
    01:56 Metzeler website information
03:21 Where did I buy them from
    03:53 Fitting the tyres myself
    04:12 Tyres fitted
    04:36 Test ride initial thoughts
OEM Rossa 3's in my opinion needed changing as the handling was 6/10
Went for the Metzeler Sportec M9 RR , purchased from :
    www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/metze...
    Fitted them myself!
Running tyre pressures of 36 front/42 rear as per Triumphs recommendations
New tyres should be scrubbed in for 60-120 miles
So far, they have without doubt transformed the handing, lots more confidence and I would rate them as 9/10 even whilst scrubbing in. Very good tyre.

Don’t all freshly fitted tyres, feel great!

Indeed that's why it's an initial review ...and I will revisit them when I have done more miles. Just shows that tyres go off and you should get new hoops on the bike to get back to enjoying the ride 👍

Not all. I bought a new set of Michelins and the front tyre had a bad harmonic vibration (caused terrible 'buzzing') and the rear wasn't even round (the whole bike shook badly). I switched to Metzelers and its like riding a totally different bike. A big thumbs down to Michelin for their expensive black rim protectors.

I'm interested in why you went Metzler over michelin road 6 or another set of rosso 4s?
I've got the Metzler racetech RR on my 23'
ST1200 and really like them, although living insub Tropical Australia I am concerned that if I get caught out in a summer storm which can often dump 100mm of rain in 1/2 hour I might be tip towing about trying to keep the black bits down.
Love to know your thought process in zeroing in on the Metzler tyres.
Love the channel btw, can't wait to see more.

Thanks, had metzelers on all my sports bikes in the past, now fitted Torrance next 2's onto the bmw gs which are great so decided to try the same company with the triumph. Tyres are all subjective really and to be fair if you stayed with a major brand you won't go wrong.🤞

Road 6 is a very slow steering type, took them of my s1000r at 4000kms and fitter Power 6, the the bike goes where i want it to and when i want it to instead of a big delay to inputs.

    Honest opinion.
I know it's all about performance on public roads and rain and everything.
Bue the racetec RR looks more dope on that bike

Basically my nephews push bike tyres would have been better the the 5000 mile rosso 3’s , but it was just an initial review and will do one when I have many more miles on it . Absolutely knackered after doing them ! 🙈

@@marcfalardeau6058 Hi, early days..I had an issue with the roads 6's, but to be honest I could have swapped them for a new set of 6's and I may have been fine with them. Fabulous tyre never let me down...but I thought I would try the Next 2's, which so far have been equally as good but still scrubbing them in.. haven't ridden the gs much since I got the speed twin 🤪

@@gsd32i Once you get Metzeler, you'll probably stick with them. There's a lot that Metzeler are doing right, so the carcass construction helps with comfort, handling, roadholding & feedback. Even their Marathon & Cruisetec tyres would still do well on a semi sport bike like the ST1200, particularly as nobody rides to the limit on a public road (or at least they shouldn't).
