It's about what Alternia should have become, and how far it's fallen, thanks to Doc Scratch. That puppet caused every single bad thing in every universe from A2 to B1 to happen, and this tune is a melancholy reminder of what Alternia should have been. The funny way Hussie poses Homestuck just makes the story so invisible.... Yea, most fans could, in EXCRUCIATING DETAIL, describe every event that happens, but when you really have time to look back on the story......... It's f*cked up. These 13 year old kids lose almost everything, including their guardians, their friends, their entire planets, and along the way, who they once were........ John is no longer the silly kid with a hammer, nor is Karkat the one that "stole" leadership from Terezi. They see friends slaughter friends, and death, and death, and death. I would have broken down. I would have crawled away to a corner, and tried to hide, I would be a burden on my team, and no matter how much the deny it, most fans would be too. That's why when people say homestuck is "Stupid" or "storyless" it's like a blow to the chest. But when they describe it as "silly", it's completely spot on, yet they miss the target by a mile.
I can't believe I never realized all of that, I mean, almost every single character on Homestuck has suffered one way or another (especially Gamzee, if you ask me) but I never realized how much suffered characters like John, or Rose, I always thought more about the trolls (and Dave because he said himself how much he suffered bc of Bro) Now I'm kind of sad 3':

Rose's mother is an alcoholic, dave's brother beats the crap outta his sibling on a DAILY BASIS, and jade is raised by a dog, while john's father is oblivious to the fact his son is going insane by making jokes out of everything. and in the end, they all die anyway! at the age of THIRTEEN! roxy and dirk are stuck in a literal apocalypse, and jake is alone on an island, isolated, while jane is unknowingly working under the cruel hands of the enemy. the trolls AND the kids lose their worlds, and all the carapacians DIE, with few exeptions. and they have to put up with this and more OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, almost endlessly. its sad, really :[

To be honest, even though I don’t do much rp in Homestuck I have greatly enjoyed this comic and the fandom. This comic has shown happiness, sadness, comedic moments, moments of terror, bravery, cowardice, love, hate, and friendship. It’s taught us that even someone that is so ordinary can be very important, and that it’s ok to grow up, and even then we won’t stop growing. That some challenges ahead of us can seem impossible, but we can overcome them. It has been a fun, interesting, funny, and even tear jerking ride with John, the Beta, and Alpha kids, alternian and beforus trolls, the exiles, Hussie with his self inserts and every other chatacter in homestuck. This webcomic and fandom has really come a long way. I can honestly imagine when this song plays, John, the Beta, and Alpha kids, Alternia and Beforus trolls will all be standing on a hill as it rains, dark clouds in the sky. John walks next to Karkat and looks up at the sky, water hitting his glasses as he looks up, one of his trademark goofy smiles on his face as he exclaims in a cheery but soft tone. “We did it! We beat the game!” Everybody smiles and laughs, also cheering as hugs are exchanged to one another with exclamations of “We won!”, “H3 H3 H3 H3!”, “It’S a MiRiClE bEyOnD AlL mIrAcLeS”, “ugh, iit2 about tiime we beat thii2 game guy2.”, and “Weeeeeeeel it was only natural we would win.”. Eridan and Feferi are talking to each other after the hugs, Eridan saying sorry from where he left off and Fef forgives him for being such a “Glubbing J---Erk.”. Equius hugs Nepeta, but not to strongly as to be gentle with her as she laughs. More regret and forgiveness seeking is exchanged, though from Vriska as she admits what she did to her friends before, leading, and during Sbgrub was wrong. They don’t forgive her right away, but only after Tavros says “i KNOW THAT, uHH, wHAT YOU DID TO US WAS WRONG BUT I, dECIDED TO FORGIVE YOU, iT TOOK SOME REAL CONFIDENCE TO SAY YOU WERE SORRY VRISKA AND I ADMIRE THAT,” She then smiles, a real smile this time as she said “You didn’t do so 8ad yourself with your own confidence, Taaaaaaaavros.” She gives him a gentle punch on the shoulder before those around them hug her, more cheery laughs are exchanged. Dave and dirk are standing in the background, acting all cool and stuff. They look at each other and nod once before giving each other a first bump before looking on. Jade and Jake are having a merry old time talking to one another about their grandparents who are their adult selves. Rose and Roxy are talking amongst one another as cheerful laughs and conversation comes from John and Jane. Even the Alternia Trolls are talking to the Beforus trolls. Some already know each other from the game and so are now really talking to one another, but those who didn’t meet their counter parts do as well, though for two it’s more difficult then it should be but they get the message nonetheless. As this is happening Karkat stays away from the group, only watching their interactions. In his mind he sees that the game is really over, and you know what? Despite all of the hardships that they all went through, seeing just how far they have come to this point, and despite all of the challenges they went through and the odds being stacked against them with impossible outcomes, they all came out together alright. Him and his friends, the old and new, and for once in his life he feels something. A feeling long forgotten, but still somehow there, and that feeling was……happiness. Karkat could actually feel happiness, and slowly, but surly, a genuine smile creeps onto his face. Once done talking to Jane, John noticed this and he does a surpised gasp followed by another goofy grin and exclaims. “Karkat no way!, your smiling!” Their is a rather surprised “what?” going through the crowd and look to him, in which he fakes a frown trying to make it look genuine. Terezi exclaims “NO W4Y H3 SM1L3D? I W4N7 TO S33 I7!”. His frown wasn’t exactly working and everyone awww’s. He looks mad and says “YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF FUCKASSES! BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? YOUR MY FRIENDS TOO.” This didn’t come out with his usual yelling, more like a calm half yell that was quelled down as the smile came back. Everybody awwws again as a few giggle, everyone getting into a group hug with him. As that happened the rain stopped and the skies cleared. As the group separates from the hug they all look up at the sky, remembering the game and it’s various challenges it threw in front of them, even the ones it didn’t mean to. Though they got past all hurdles and got their reward, a new planet both human, and troll, could call home. Despite everything, everything turned out all right. Suddenly the Mayor and PM appear, those who know them rejoice including Dave who knew the Mayor well. Though it left them puzzled how they got here. A white ship had landed a few meters away, the alpha and beta kids guardians there, and they rejoice with them. John is finally able to talk to his dad and they seemed to rejoice much more then the other kids. John’s dad looked at him, a smile on his face as tears of joy came from his face as he said.”Son, you have grown to be a better man then I have ever hoped to become. I am so, so, so, very proud of you.” The two groups form together again, all of them standing side by side on the hill. They all look up with a smile, some more big and more cheery then others, but still spoke the same volume. They looked up at the sky with hope and happiness in their hearts. Despite all of the odds, the trials, and danger of the game they had beaten it and those not part of it’s design, and now they had their just reward, everyone was together again, and they couldn’t be even happier as they continued to look at the all to familiar sky, the swirling clouds of Skaia and sun that shone it’s warm rays on them. All of them looking forward to a bright, happy, and hopeful tomorrow. In true homestuck fashion, the final curtains fall on the fourth wall window. Though in the colors of the homestuck logo. The white the main color and the pale green the trim. Words in pale green appear over the curtain, “End of Act 7”. Though once the screen fades to black the familiar animation loading logo appears with the sburb logo on it. Though once it hits one hundred percent, pale green letters appear on the screen saying “New Game?”. A blue ==> appears below it, and when you click it, it takes you all the way back to the begining of Act 1. You again see that all to familiar boy, standing in his room. Even though it was thirteen years ago he was given life, his thirteenth birthday on the 13th of April which was today would be the day he would receive his name. You are then asked what the name of this boy should be? So then the cycle of Homestuck continues, and it never ends.
That.. THAT my dear friend, was utterly amazing and heartwarming. It made me smile and the music that accompanied as I read was planned masterfully. Beautiful. You just planned it too perfectly. I was reading it and the music ended as I ended my read. It made me tear up. :)

Am I the only person who went to find this when they found out that Christopher Lee died? It's a lovely song. One of the best the fandom has ever produced to be sure. Seemed fitting to play while I cried my eyes out.
This song just reminds me of how everything could have been. If so many things hadn't gone wrong, you know? If everything had gone how it was supposed to. Where everyone could happily live their lives, with no trouble from all the things that give them trouble except the normal things. And that makes me cry.
Maybe Alternia is violent. Maybe Alternia is dangerous if you don't follow the rules. Maybe in Alternia we are separed and classifiqued with the color of our bloods. Maybe in Alternia all of us will die. But, don't forget. It's home. And it will be, for a very long time... Or not?
I honestly cannot wait to see how the Hiveswap and Hauntswitch community will grow as time progresses. Homestuck has been fantastic, though I haven't been there since the beginning of it; I just happened upon right after it ended- perhaps by three weeks. Despite that, Homestuck has still been an excellent teacher of much needed lessons that one can find if you were to look close enough. Along with helping me mature, it has also been one of the best mediums of entertainment and creative inspiration for countless people across the globe. I'm excited to see how Hiveswap and Hauntswitch will add up to it

True. You can say.. our fandom can never die, it can only go Godtier. Godtier will reach us to the shining, sparkling stars in the sky. We're just like the rest of the other fandoms, but we just a bit different. We can be really awesome or really rude. But, that's just people. So... when Homestuck is over. I probly will cry, but really, in the end, we will have a small tear in our eyes and be like "It's time to go Godtier Homestuck... it's time." We shall give our farewells, some still clinging on, but the homestuck fandom will fly and reach to the top. We all have our opinions. Some of us don't want it to die, and others are just accepting it, and me.. well... I accept it'll be gone soon. Just like Doctor Who, Super natural, Sherlock, and the others as well. We're all the same.
My take: Alternia is, yes, on the surface, very evil. But if you think about it, if we were to balance out all the evil in our world, taking what happens in third world countries and war into account, making it equal in all people and places, Alternia is pretty much what we'd get. On the other hand, Alternia has many _good_ things we don't. People who get born with psychic powers, magical coding programs that can detect death, beautiful surreal sights in nature, lack of overpopulation, and adventures had by all. People of higher blood castes get to live hundreds of years, while the lower ones get a higher rate of being born psionic. There's so much magic everywhere that people don't even notice it, hence Karkat not believing in magic. The kids on Alternia don't live sedentary lifestyles, because they have to survive. Ancient mythologies actually have meaning because they supposedly guide one one one's destiny. Creatures wondrous and heinous walk the earth on Alternia. Over all, Alternia is better than Earth. This is the theme of a beautiful world that has some hard rules. Just because life is beautiful doesn't mean it's easy.

Alternia as a society was messed up, but Alternia as a planet was beautiful. Let's not forget how lovely some of the land was. Multiple moons, forests of blue and pink trees, and vast blue oceans were just a sampling of the scenery.

I feel like Homestuck, no matter what, will always, always be kinda special to me. There is nothing like it. Nothing at all. And it's beautiful. It truly is. It just shows you that something can be its own thing.

This song is beautiful, and I listen to it often, but I find it weird how this is a song about Alternia. Alternia is more... chaotic. People on the planet murder others. I've always found it kind of odd.
I prefer to see it as a melody that successfully depicts the sadness that comes to all in the dark times of alternia. Alternia, where the best you can hope for is to do something great before getting murdered by some higher up for a petty or foolish reason.
All of Homestuck ends with this song, but instead of the happy, heartwarming ending where everyone is alive and well, John was the only one who lived. In the final flash, he walks on a world that the inhabitant has died and he remembers everyone, walking as the camera zooms out slowly and John falls to his knees. Three weeks after this horrible ending, Hussie decides to update one last time. It goes back to when John in in the field in his knees. Karkat approaches him and yells at him of course, and only then do we see that all of the trolls and humans are infront of John. As John runs to them and the curtains begin to close, you see all of their eyes. They are white. Everyone is dead, forever.

To be honest, even though I don’t do much rp in Homestuck I have greatly enjoyed this comic and the fandom. This comic has shown happiness, sadness, comedic moments, moments of terror, bravery, cowardice, love, hate, and friendship. It’s taught us that even someone that is so ordinary can be very important, and that it’s ok to grow up, and even then we won’t stop growing. That some challenges ahead of us can seem impossible, but we can overcome them. It has been a fun, interesting, funny, and even tear jerking ride with John, the Beta, and Alpha kids, alternian and beforus trolls, the exiles, Hussie with his self inserts and every other chatacter in homestuck. This webcomic and fandom has really come a long way.
I can honestly imagine when this song plays, John, the Beta, and Alpha kids, Alternia and Beforus trolls will all be standing on a hill as it rains, dark clouds in the sky. John walks next to Karkat and looks up at the sky, water hitting his glasses as he looks up, one of his trademark goofy smiles on his face as he exclaims in a cheery but soft tone. “We did it! We beat the game!” Everybody smiles and laughs, also cheering as hugs are exchanged to one another with exclamations of “We won!”, “H3 H3 H3 H3!”, “It’S a MiRiClE bEyOnD AlL mIrAcLeS”, “ugh, iit2 about tiime we beat thii2 game guy2.”, and “Weeeeeeeel it was only natural we would win.”.
Eridan and Feferi are talking to each other after the hugs, Eridan saying sorry from where he left off and Fef forgives him for being such a “Glubbing J---Erk.”. Equius hugs Nepeta, but not to strongly as to be gentle with her as she laughs. More regret and forgiveness seeking is exchanged, though from Vriska as she admits what she did to her friends before, leading, and during Sbgrub was wrong. They don’t forgive her right away, but only after Tavros says “i KNOW THAT, uHH, wHAT YOU DID TO US WAS WRONG BUT I, dECIDED TO FORGIVE YOU, iT TOOK SOME REAL CONFIDENCE TO SAY YOU WERE SORRY VRISKA AND I ADMIRE THAT,” She then smiles, a real smile this time as she said “You didn’t do so 8ad yourself with your own confidence, Taaaaaaaavros.” She gives him a gentle punch on the shoulder before those around them hug her, more cheery laughs are exchanged.
Dave and dirk are standing in the background, acting all cool and stuff. They look at each other and nod once before giving each other a first bump before looking on. Jade and Jake are having a merry old time talking to one another about their grandparents who are their adult selves. Rose and Roxy are talking amongst one another as cheerful laughs and conversation comes from John and Jane. Even the Alternia Trolls are talking to the Beforus trolls. Some already know each other from the game and so are now really talking to one another, but those who didn’t meet their counter parts do as well, though for two it’s more difficult then it should be but they get the message nonetheless.
As this is happening Karkat stays away from the group, only watching their interactions. In his mind he sees that the game is really over, and you know what? Despite all of the hardships that they all went through, seeing just how far they have come to this point, and despite all of the challenges they went through and the odds being stacked against them with impossible outcomes, they all came out together alright. Him and his friends, the old and new, and for once in his life he feels something. A feeling long forgotten, but still somehow there, and that feeling was……happiness. Karkat could actually feel happiness, and slowly, but surly, a genuine smile creeps onto his face.
Once done talking to Jane, John noticed this and he does a surpised gasp followed by another goofy grin and exclaims. “Karkat no way!, your smiling!” Their is a rather surprised “what?” going through the crowd and look to him, in which he fakes a frown trying to make it look genuine. Terezi exclaims “NO W4Y H3 SM1L3D? I W4N7 TO S33 I7!”. His frown wasn’t exactly working and everyone awww’s.
He looks mad and says “YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF FUCKASSES! BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? YOUR MY FRIENDS TOO.” This didn’t come out with his usual yelling, more like a calm half yell that was quelled down as the smile came back. Everybody awwws again as a few giggle, everyone getting into a group hug with him. As that happened the rain stopped and the skies cleared.
As the group separates from the hug they all look up at the sky, remembering the game and it’s various challenges it threw in front of them, even the ones it didn’t mean to. Though they got past all hurdles and got their reward, a new planet both human, and troll, could call home. Despite everything, everything turned out all right. Suddenly the Mayor and PM appear, those who know them rejoice including Dave who knew the Mayor well. Though it left them puzzled how they got here. A white ship had landed a few meters away, the alpha and beta kids guardians there, and they rejoice with them. John is finally able to talk to his dad and they seemed to rejoice much more then the other kids. John’s dad looked at him, a smile on his face as tears of joy came from his face as he said.”Son, you have grown to be a better man then I have ever hoped to become. I am so, so, so, very proud of you.”
The two groups form together again, all of them standing side by side on the hill. They all look up with a smile, some more big and more cheery then others, but still spoke the same volume. They looked up at the sky with hope and happiness in their hearts. Despite all of the odds, the trials, and danger of the game they had beaten it and those not part of it’s design, and now they had their just reward, everyone was together again, and they couldn’t be even happier as they continued to look at the all to familiar sky, the swirling clouds of Skaia and sun that shone it’s warm rays on them. All of them looking forward to a bright, happy, and hopeful tomorrow. In true homestuck fashion, the final curtains fall on the fourth wall window. Though in the colors of the homestuck logo. The white the main color and the pale green the trim. Words in pale green appear over the curtain, “End of Act 7”.
Though once the screen fades to black the familiar animation loading logo appears with the sburb logo on it. Though once it hits one hundred percent, pale green letters appear on the screen saying “New Game?”. A blue ==> appears below it, and when you click it, it takes you all the way back to the begining of Act 1. You again see that all to familiar boy, standing in his room. Even though it was thirteen years ago he was given life, his thirteenth birthday on the 13th of April which was today would be the day he would receive his name. You are then asked what the name of this boy should be? So then the cycle of Homestuck continues, and it never ends.

I honestly cannot wait to see how the Hiveswap and Hauntswitch community will grow as time progresses. Homestuck has been fantastic, though I haven't been there since the beginning of it; I just happened upon right after it ended-
perhaps by three weeks. Despite that, Homestuck has still been an excellent teacher of much needed lessons that one can find if you were to look close enough. Along with helping me mature, it has also been one of the best mediums of entertainment and creative inspiration for countless people across the globe. I'm excited to see how Hiveswap and Hauntswitch will add up to it

Why is everyone freaking out over the end of Homestuck? It will live on for a long time I'm sure, let alone, it's over a thousand pages... you can read it all over again if you really wanted.
True. You can say.. our fandom can never die, it can only go Godtier. Godtier will reach us to the shining, sparkling stars in the sky. We're just like the rest of the other fandoms, but we just a bit different. We can be really awesome or really rude. But, that's just people. So... when Homestuck is over. I probly will cry, but really, in the end, we will have a small tear in our eyes and be like "It's time to go Godtier Homestuck... it's time." We shall give our farewells, some still clinging on, but the homestuck fandom will fly and reach to the top. My take:
Alternia is, yes, on the surface, very evil. But if you think about it, if we were to balance out all the evil in our world, taking what happens in third world countries and war into account, making it equal in all people and places, Alternia is pretty much what we'd get.
On the other hand, Alternia has many _good_ things we don't. People who get born with psychic powers, magical coding programs that can detect death, beautiful surreal sights in nature, lack of overpopulation, and adventures had by all. People of higher blood castes get to live hundreds of years, while the lower ones get a higher rate of being born psionic.
There's so much magic everywhere that people don't even notice it, hence Karkat not believing in magic. The kids on Alternia don't live sedentary lifestyles, because they have to survive. Ancient mythologies actually have meaning because they supposedly guide one one one's destiny. Creatures wondrous and heinous walk the earth on Alternia. Over all, Alternia is better than Earth.
This is the theme of a beautiful world that has some hard rules. Just because life is beautiful doesn't mean it's easy.

Alternia as a society was messed up, but Alternia as a planet was beautiful. Let's not forget how lovely some of the land was. Multiple moons, forests of blue and pink trees, and vast blue oceans were just a sampling of the scenery.

This song is beautiful, and I listen to it often, but I find it weird how this is a song about Alternia. Alternia is more... chaotic. People on the planet murder others. I've always found it kind of odd.

I prefer to see it as a melody that successfully depicts the sadness that comes to all in the dark times of alternia. Alternia, where the best you can hope for is to do something great before getting murdered by some higher up for a petty or foolish reason.

So many feels. Dear God. One of the best songs of Homestuck.
All of Homestuck ends with this song, but instead of the happy, heartwarming ending where everyone is alive and well, John was the only one who lived. In the final flash, he walks on a world that the inhabitant has died and he remembers everyone, walking as the camera zooms out slowly and John falls to his knees.
Three weeks after this horrible ending, Hussie decides to update one last time. It goes back to when John in in the field in his knees. Karkat approaches him and yells at him of course, and only then do we see that all of the trolls and humans are infront of John. As John runs to them and the curtains begin to close, you see all of their eyes. They are white. Everyone is dead, forever.
+Beach Plaz Knowing Hussie, instead of this song, it would be Showtime: Piano Refrain, or Homestuck Homestuck, but if it's showtime then Showtime would be the first and last sound you would hear from the comic

Ok I really do like showtime refrain but seriously, this has to be the last song we ever hear in Homestuck with a flash zooming out and whatnot.
