    You shouldnt dry your car with a towel w\o cleaning your car with a sponge because the hose alone is not getting all of the dirt and muck off your car, so if you dry it with a towel afterwards, you are just rubbing mud into the paint causing scratches.

    Hey man - good vid. A few recommendations for you: 1) use wax and dry, never dry the car with an unlubricated towel (will also reduce your need to use detailer). 2) when you "flip", just get a new towel, don't contaminate the detailed with the oil from your hands, less streaks!

    +1 for the quik detailer - I have the same one and it is really an amazing final touch during the drying process. I wash my car with high-limestone water and the drying process is also a limestone cleaning process and the detailer makes this so much easier and safer 👍👍👍

    My suggestion is when you are drying the car use a quick detailer. Spray it over the panel you are about to dry. The reason for this is that it will provide more lubricant and less chances of scratching the paint. Because when you just spray the car down like you do it only gets some of the dirt off you must make contact with the paint to properly clean it (which is why when you dont dry it it will still look dirty after) So when you dry it that contact is actually cleaning the dirt off however you are scratching it.
    So spray the detailer on the body panel and dry it. It will help you not scratch it as much and it will also make it shine & clean better and save you a step.

    I put 2 coats of CQuartz UK edition ceramic coating on my S5 after a near microscopic 3 day paint correction. Plus, a few extra sacrificial top-coats also made by Car Pro in addition to the CQuartz. I use a pretty powerful pressure washer with a foam cannon. Even with the “self cleaning” and “hard as glass” properties in the coatings. i would never just towel dry. I too am usually too busy for a full detail. In these cases, I power wash with the foam cannon, then rinse with the Double Chuck spotless water filter. I use a basketweave microfiber on the glass out of habit (they are coated also), but I let the paint dry naturally. I only touch my paint with a drying towel if I’ve used the 2 bucket method, and even then I use a metro blower to dry the car or the spotless filtered water. If you have to do it how you are, get a lubricating spray for the drying process and flip your towel often. Even the quick detailer you have could be used but might streak if not dried completely. Anyway, if you can, get a good pressure washer and water filter and you can wash your car a lot safer, in the same amount of time. Beautiful car by the way!

    I wouldn't wipe your car down without actually washing it. You can see dirt that is being picked up in the rag as you dry it and that means it is scratching it when you wipe it again. For in between actual washes, just spray it down with soap/water, then rinse/power wash, and then use a "spot free" rinse. Drive to let it air dry.

      seriously this is swirl city... 1. rinse the car 2. scrub wheels with detailing soap and a soft wheel brush 3. lather paint from top to bottom with a good detailing soap and a microfiber chamois 3. rinse again 4. dry from top to bottom. If you don't have time for that, don't bother washing your car.

    Like you, I don't have much time, and rely on car wash stations. I agree with your steps from the rinse on. I recommend the following for the beginning: Pre-rinse. Then take the car wash brush that emits the soppy suds and hover the brush over the car and deposit the thick soap. DO NOT SCRUB!!! Use a microfiber towel to wash the car with the soap. Rinse. And proceed...

      @@racingsmurffi4640 TBH it might not be THAT terrible as he's using a detailing spray, which is usually used for rinseless wash, so it's kinda intended to remove light dust with. Of course, it's better to have an actual soap contact wash, but if he washes his car every few days it might not be as horrible as it sounds.

    The S4 Looks great In black when It's clean. I was the owner of two black cars that were brand new. I will not go into the brands because that's not important here. My point is to me there is nothing like a clean black car. I worked 6 days a week to support my family and my toys. On Sunday my only day off I would spend hours cleaning my cars. In the next day or two the cars would show all the road dirt, tree sap, pollen in the air and so on. I will never spend my money on a black car ever again. No dark colors and no black, I will not spend my day off cleaning only to have a dirty car again In two days. Enjoy while you have the energy or the time.

    newer use the towel that you used on lower parts that are near to the ground on the whole car since the most dirty parts are the onces that are close to the ground and to the wheels. So if you are drying your car allways use a water wiper ( i hope its called like that ) and also work from up to down :D nice car btw

    ok to jet your car off between washes, but you are better of going for a drive to dry it off then once home and in the shade if possible, then use Meg's quick detailer as this far safer than drying off your still dirty car after just getting it off. TIP prior to jet wash, use a pre wash cleaner like valet pro citrus pre wash, this will further help remove the road grime.

    • @jordanridgeway4601
      @jordanridgeway4601 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Going for a drive to dry it off," and then you're also suggesting to spray a quick detailer and then wipe off? All you're going to do is grind whatever contaminants you just picked up into your paint. If you wanted to do it right, you'd take a microfiber towel that has been gently misted with Ammo Hydrate (look it up) and use that to dry off. If you're going to be lazy, you're going to fuck your paint up

    • @daveyofyeshua
      @daveyofyeshua 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      QD is designed whereby you wash, dry & wax your car at home drive to the show then QD it there with no issues. Anything you pick up on the paint will have only of been there for a couple hours tops, which causes no issues.

    • @jordanridgeway4601
      @jordanridgeway4601 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what a "quick detailer" spray is, it's an oxymoron. Whenever I see people spraying their cars with it at a show or meet, it makes me cringe. All that is doing is causing fine micro abrasions. It would be better to just have your car spotless before the show and resist that urge to wipe it. Just wait until you're home and wash it right

  • @TheRacebert
    @TheRacebert 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    maybe try and dry the car with a piece of leather and just barely drag it along the paint that way you reduce scratches and doesn't leave water marks. The way your towel looks there's probably a lot of small particles in there that might damage the clear coat. Also won't take that much longer. Also great content keep it up bro!

    • @TheDenning123
      @TheDenning123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leather is wrong. Should always use microfibre towels because if any dirt is picked up, it goes Into the fibres of the towel. Where as leather has a flat surface, therefore if dirt is picked up its rubbed against the pain causing damage such as swirls and scratches.:)

    Do not use any kind of friction on the paint of your car, there will always be a little bit of dirt, sand or any other material which will scratch the paint. You will see this once its in the light. Also:
    Why are you using regular gas? Using this breaks your engine, combustion time on the regular gas isn't corrects this causes your cylinders to break. Pay a little extra to get 98. Greetings, a fellow Dutch Audi lover.

Yet still I don't hate on kids with rich parrents.. I'm happy for them! I'm happy that there are teenagers who grow up better than I did

    To all the haters - grow up. To Oliver - thanks for the video. Why did you choose an audi over a lexus? It's hard to make my mind.

      bro both Lexus and Audi make great cars but in s4 price range, you get more for what you pay, s4 is faster than is /es 350,better looking (in my opinion),sick interior,fewer S4s on the road and it is german technology

    Whats the brand name of the towel you used to dry the car? I'm a fellow Canadian looking for it in Canadian tire.
    Also do you, or did you spray quick detail on the whole car? Or just what you showed in the video?
    Thanks :)

      zero4710 I feel like the s4 doesn't compete with the c63, I'd say the rs class would be better for comparisons. Anyways, since you've owned both which one would you say is best if you take price in consideration.

    • @zero4710

      Mika Ntuyenabo I prefer the c63. I got a 12' coupe with p31 package which comes stock with 481 hp. It is a really fun car to drive and drift/burn out. But for winter weather, i would take the S4, preferably one in the year 2014+. The 2013 had electronic steering issues. the car was very floaty. My 13' s4 was fully loaded with APR stage 2 tune as well as all of the suspensions goodies such as pss10s, alukreuz, sways and endlinks and etc. Even though it was modded, it cannot compare to my stock c63, p31 package. the c63 is so much better in everyway. The only thing the s4 is better is the gas mileage and its good for winter weather . My Certified preown c63 was 40k which is the same as a 14'+ s4 price

      zero4710 I see, thanks a lot for all the info. I was looking to sell my A4 and get an s4, I was gonna get 2011-2013 but after what you said I might just go 2014-2015. I live in Canada so it's perfect as we have harsh winters.. and does the apr stage 2 tune make a big difference in performance? I was considering getting that too but wasn't sure if it's worth the money.

    Watching you clean your S4 is so cathartic man, awesome car. I just bought a black B7 and I notice it's hard to keep it from getting dusty. Do you have any advice for keeping the dust off/keeping it clean looking with the black paint?

      dont take advice from this guy on cleaning a car. he just rinsed it and then wiped it down. wax your car if you dont want dust or stop driving it on dusty roads.

    Nice car Oliver! But do try to wash it more thorough and more detailed, and use only Meguiars products. Trust me, been using them for approx 8 years, they really do the work, but as you said, you need time for that. A good wash takes about 6 hours, I'm talking pre-wash, wash, wax and polish. Anyway, nice car, good to see you're taking care of it. PS: what pipes are you using? Are the cats swapped or factory?

    You are killing me..please.oh please...on black cars, ALWAYS wash and dry from TOP to Bottom and use 2 towels.. One for the top and one for the bottom to help prevent scratches or marks on the paint. On another note, I'm super glad you did not use the nasty dirty brush in those wash stalls.
