Yes, I find those wheel cleaning bubbles incredibly entertaining and satisfying too! For the best bubbles, I would recommend Adam's Wheel & Tire Cleaner in an IK Alkaline 1.5L continuous sprayer like this one: carzilla.ca/products/ik-alkaline-15l?_pos=7&_sid=3133b9b45&_ss=r&ref=RADGARAGE. For the brush, I just use a utility brush you would find labeled as a carpet brush. Very generic and available all over the net.
Beautiful S4! My personal favorite body style as well. Let your brother know (if he hasn’t done this already) to ceramic tint or atleast carbon-ceramic tint the windows. Even if it’s just 100% or 70%! German rear lids/interior bits go bad quickly if you live in a hot climate. It happened on my B5 S4, E46 M3, and my current E92 M3 I got all that done before anything was Sun/UV damaged! Good work!
Awesome job! I deal with salt like that or worst on every one i do after winter. A tip would be to use a plastic scraper or flat head screw driver to break it down making sure not to destroy the fibers. I like Adam's carpet and upholstery cleaner and saturate the spot let it dwell and then i extract it. Also a little ONR in your extractor may help a little with wicking.....it took me many years to get something like that and getting 99% of it out with no white residue after it dries. One of my best purchases for salt is easily my Mytee 8070 heated extractor. Keep up the good work
Great input. I was impressed with how a vinegar/water mixture with the hot towels softened things up, but it was that deep down hard stuff that just had me stumped. I would say I got 80% of it out. I could have spent more time, but I wasn't sure it would have paid off. I did use the Multi-Use Foam cleaner to saturate but I have used the C&U Cleaner in the past too. It was just that deep down stuff that I couldn't seem to get to.
Wow there were a lot of good shots in this video, but the one at 11:49 , with the tape, stood out for me. I have never seen this type of cinematography, let alone in car detailing videos!
It's the perfect car. I'd be interested to see what kind of feedback this video is getting on the Facebook page. Can you link me? Or, is it a private group?
If you rinse from the top, by the time you work your way to the bottom all the foam is gone so what was the point. By moving bottom to top, you are ensuring foam is being thrust into the cracks and crevices with the pressure spray. This way you get WAY more use out of the foam.
Awesome detail! I was wondering what's the small towel used for cleaning crevices on rims and tool to help agitate tar on rims. Looked like a rubberized screwdriver tip!
Both of those items were sourced through Griot's Garage many moons ago. The 4-finger wool wheel mitt is no longer available and I'm worried what I will do when it finally kicks the bucket. The little tool you saw is from a detailing kit I picked up at GG. It has a bunch of hard plastic attachments and various arms you can screw them on to get into the little places. Pretty handy little kit. Unfortunately, I don't think you can find either of them any longer. Sorry dude.
amazing video! this is prob my fav one on the channel so far! i appreciate the time you take to edit these intricate videos and it really shows, great video Rick!! thanks for highlighting every aspect that you tackled, truly amazing work!
My pleasure. I do believe I used the one-step polish by Adam's on the B-pillars. I tend to go a bit easy on those. They can sometimes react strangely to compounds and polishes.
10k subs congratz you've come along way trough the years, I dont know when I subscribed I think it was before 1k. Seeing you know with 10k just sparks joy, keep on grinding Rick.
What an amazing speech that’s playing first in the soundtrack and oh so true even today, your choice of music is so far from the norm, but adds that “cherry on top” touch to an already amazing process and video skill. From start to finish TOP SHELF brother 💪
Thanks man. I really appreciate the kind words. Those words spoken by Charlie Chaplin in the movie The Great Dictator still have a ring of truth to them today. Sadly.
I did dozens of details when I was just starting out with very limited products. Where there is a will there is a way. Good luck with your detailing and I am so proud that you consider me someone you can take after and learn from. Detail Geek is an inspiration to many detailers and he sure is popular.
Have you seen the latest tour vid I uploaded a few months ago? I'll be doing another one at the end of the summer once I have completed a few more garage projects.
It's nothing anyone can't do if they have the time and tools. I just got finished with a sweet Golf R and I"m in the process of rendering the video right now!
Rote Pixel If you park outside all winter and have kids, this is your life. The salt that gets tracked in on boots is serious business along with the gravel.
Thank you very much! I think the video makes things look more amazing than they actually are. I'm just a guy who works hard and takes his time. Far from a king!
So amazingly well put together! The camera work, music, detailing work, everything. Wish I found your channel sooner. I am curious about your camera gear and setup, if you don't mind telling me. Do you use a camera dolly, how do you do those smooth panning shots etc. Your videos are the best detailing videos I've seen so far!
Welcome aboard! I can't give away all my tricks but I do have a few motorized camera dollies. I use a Sony a6000 camera. It's nice when someone recognizes the hard work I put in to these videos. I hope you will check out my other stuff. If you go back to my earlier videos, I bet you'll see a progression in my video style.
@@RADGarage Thanks for replying. And of course I will check out your other videos! I'm a photographer and do a bit of video myself, so I can recognize all the hard work you put in. I love your techniques!

I agree with pan, You will definitely rack up the subscribers. I look forward to your videos coming out. Also did you use bead maker as a clay lube? Or am I seeing things?
Thanks. That kind of positivity and support means a lot. I used the new Detail Spray by Ethos as a clay lube. The label design is similar. Made me look twice in fact.
Nope. Back in 2014 I started a build thread on garagejournal.com and I dubbed my thread 'Rick's Audi Double" but that just kind of shortened to RAD. Thanks fo the question.
Rick awesome vid! I have a similar black s4. Any recommendations on products that work best on this paint for 2 step polish? I used menzerna fg400 and was shocked to still see spider webbing. The previous owner didn’t take the best care of how they dried the car. Now not sure what to do next.
bolivianfuego I’m very surprised to hear FG400 wasn’t aggressive enough. That compound is usually enough for me. Have you tried a wool pad? Rotary might be worth considering. Follow up with a orbital. Hard to say without seeing your whole process.
No carpet lines are the way to go my man. Love how this thing finished out, excellent turnaround considering it's initial state and the steps you could realistically take to finish the job. He had to be stoked with the outcome.
I really enjoyed this video for many reasons, I’m subscribed to pan the organisers channel and watched tonnes of his content so was a nice touch to feature his sound clip in. I have the same car as a daily driver. My weekend/play car is a newer 5 series but I envisioned my audi being detailed. The video is so easy to watch and in a way therapeutic. One thing I wish, and I don’t know if any of your viewers has asked, but would you ever add captions of the products to the video when you’re using them? Might not be to your style and hope it doesn’t offend you as it’s your call, the content you give us is top notch already but I’ll find it useful.
I appreciate your comment and question. I do play around with the format of my videos time to time. You'll see some that showcase each and every product, either by voice or with text, and some are just straight ASMR style. It's something I enjoy experimenting with. I hope that kind of answers your question. Pan has been a huge champion of my TH-cam and detailing escapades. I do a thorough job of linking everything I use in my videos in the description section, so feel free to check that out. Lastly, thanks for being a cool dude and for choosing to spend time watching this project. There's LOTS more if the mood strikes you! 🤘
@@RADGarage Hi, that’s great I’m a newish subscriber so I’m sure I will come across your other videos that showcase the different formats you use. I guess I asked a bit too soon! Thank you for quick and personal reply and yes I will check out your products in the descriptions. Thanks!
Hey Rick, great video! Just wondering what tool you are using at 3:27 to remove the little black deposits on the wheels? I just detailed a WRX that had lots on the wheels and it was a struggle.
It's a versatile little pack of detailing "sticks" with different attachments. Here it is: www.griotsgarage.com/product/detailing+stick+system.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=fn
I have used wheel cleaners as well as Adam's Multi-Purpose Foaming Cleaner and they both work well. That first part of the process is targeting the loose debris and weakening the bond between the carbon and the stainless steel. I then follow with steel wool (if they are really built up) or just move to the polishing soap stage.
Very impressive work! I'm currently doing the same on my 2013 black S4. I know how much work this represents. Very well done! I'm having a little bit of a hard time cutting through some of my scratches with lake country yellow foam pads, do you think microfiber or even wool (as you used) would be a better tool?
Pascal Robillard I have really grown attached to Rupes Wool pads. I rarely use any foam pads. If you’re looking to get the car 100% corrected, I highly recommend giving them a shot.
I have the same color on my A6 and in video i see is not so shiny as it must be afte the detailing i dont know if it fron the camera. Good results. Nice work!! Keep it tha way!
Yes, I was quite satisfied with the condition of the paint at the end of this process. It looked really good as it drove away, which is always a fun part of the overall process.
What a fantastic video....instantly hit the subscribe button to see more content! Curious as to your choice of pads and going to a wool pad? Was it to get the fastest cut possible in the shorter amount of time?
So the Rupes wool pads were introduced to me by a close friend who attended the Obsessed Garage Rupes trip a few years back. Not sure when it was exactly. When he got back, he said there was no other pad worth using. They cut deep and quickly but finish really nicely. They are definitely worth trying. AFAIK they have a "coarse" and a "medium", but I need to check to see if they have a "finish or light" pad, but like I say, they finish real nice. Thanks for the sub. I try my best. Sometimes my humor goes over peoples' heads, but I just try to share the fun I get up to in my 2-car suburban garage up here in Canada. Take care.
I detailed my speed3 and jeep and it took me 2 days! Wash, som clay, polish wit Turltlewax ceramic polish which is amazing. Then top with Collinite 845 last. I only has a 10" cheap tandom polisher but it does the job.
That's the absolute key, did you "do the job"? Sounds like you did. This detailing community can get hung up on the "right" products and the "best" equipment, but when it comes down to it, did your car come out the way you wanted it to?
@@RADGarage TurtleWax ceramic polish was amazingly easy and fast. So slick and shiny. I wonder how long it lasts as I apply 845 once a year (but I garage my cars). I don't detail enough cars to spend $200 for a nice 5" polisher. I would love to get a used one someday.
I parted with my Griot's Garage 3" and 6" polishers a few years ago and I know the guy who bought them was super stoked. Just keep your eye out. It is nice to be able to do your own polishing. Good luck!
Yeahhh I got the price right!! Great video Rick, good to see you cherish family and are willing to combine your passion for car detailing with family, as becomes obvious by looking at the price!
Wow!!! Amazing work Rick😊 thanks for an amazing video yet again.
Hi Hassan! It is my pleasure to share this stuff.
Wow there were a lot of good shots in this video, but the one at 11:49 , with the tape, stood out for me. I have never seen this type of cinematography, let alone in car detailing videos!
Glad you enjoyed it. I really like pushing my video skills.
I own this same exact car came here from a group on Facebook that posted a link to your video you for sure got a new subscriber out of me great work
It's the perfect car. I'd be interested to see what kind of feedback this video is getting on the Facebook page. Can you link me? Or, is it a private group?
Awesome job! Black is especially challenging as it shows everything. That salt stain was huge! Again great job!👍😀
Lego D17 I could have spent another ten hours between this salty carpets and the paint.
The editing, techniques, and overall quality is top notch! Keep it up! Subbed!
Joseph Sproles Thanks man. Comments like this keep me going.
Nice, good job and nice selection of music. Need to watch more of your work!!
Thanks a lot! Feel free to check out my other work and let me know what you think!
Another fantastic detail! Camera work is spot on!
KILLER DETAILS Yup, I like the way this one worked out. Thanks for the positive feedback. It’s greatly appreciated.
What is the reason behind rinsing from the bottom up vs top down? And what’s the mold to make the impressions on the clay? Seems pretty cool.
If you rinse from the top, by the time you work your way to the bottom all the foam is gone so what was the point. By moving bottom to top, you are ensuring foam is being thrust into the cracks and crevices with the pressure spray. This way you get WAY more use out of the foam.
Cool - thanks for the reply.
Sorry dude.
@@RADGarage my luck hahaha awesome tools nonetheless!
amazing video! this is prob my fav one on the channel so far! i appreciate the time you take to edit these intricate videos and it really shows, great video Rick!! thanks for highlighting every aspect that you tackled, truly amazing work!
Mike Spina Thanks Mike. I know you really care so your opinion matters a lot to me. If I don’t get better, what’s the point right?
Cinematic’s are absolutely brilliant, very well put together video, car looks beautiful.
G’s MINI Thanks. I like taking my time with the video and capture the beauty of the process as well as the car.
RAD GARAGE No problem, you do a brilliant job of both, extremely talented.
Thanks. I appreciate that.
You're making me want a detailing garage..... Amazing stuff.
Haha. Yeah, I have a good time in there. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the great video. Did you use the adams compound on the B pillars as well?
My pleasure. I do believe I used the one-step polish by Adam's on the B-pillars. I tend to go a bit easy on those. They can sometimes react strangely to compounds and polishes.
First time I’ve seen this channel. Impressive to say the least. Keep up the excellent work!
Welcome aboard!
Great soundtrack and overall quality as usual!
HE96 Thanks. It was nice to have the whole weekend for this one. No more rush jobs for me!
10k subs congratz you've come along way trough the years, I dont know when I subscribed I think it was before 1k. Seeing you know with 10k just sparks joy, keep on grinding Rick.
Kai -291 You bet man. You’re one of my original supporters and I always smile when I see you leave a comment.
Sadly.
Video is absolutely amazing! Huge respect from the UK 🇬🇧
Thanks for the high praise! It's appreciated.
Im starting to learn how to detail. U and detailgeek are my heroes. Its too bad im living in d philippines so i cant get those equipment.
I did dozens of details when I was just starting out with very limited products. Where there is a will there is a way. Good luck with your detailing and I am so proud that you consider me someone you can take after and learn from. Detail Geek is an inspiration to many detailers and he sure is popular.
Great video as always Rick. Love all your videos!
Konnor 18 Thanks so much Konnor. It’s fun putting my work out there for others to watch and (hopefully) enjoy.
I’m 17 and I plan on getting this same car in a few years. Great video and camera work!! :)
Thanks for watching. The S4 is such a great all-around car. Excellent choice!
Nice setup! Please do a garage tour! Flooring and drainage etc too!
Have you seen the latest tour vid I uploaded a few months ago? I'll be doing another one at the end of the summer once I have completed a few more garage projects.
Watched this makes me.wanna go detail my car amd it also shows i fall so short of the professionals when i do. Great video gius.
It's nothing anyone can't do if they have the time and tools. I just got finished with a sweet Golf R and I"m in the process of rendering the video right now!
Video Quality is 💯 Great edit and Videography
Timothy Pachla Thanks. I like how this one turned out. Glad you liked it.
Dont forget why you channel is so sweet!!!! Keep it real !!!!
I"m not entirely sure what point you are making here, but with all the exclamation marks I have to assume it's a good thing?
Nice edit. Love the voice track playing while doing the tires. Very cool.
Thanks 👍 All credit for that goes to the artist Ambient Light. That is Charlie Chaplin delivering that speech.
Gosh, it was dirtier on the inside than out. Brilliant videos! Keep up the good work and kudos from Germany, Rick!
Rote Pixel If you park outside all winter and have kids, this is your life. The salt that gets tracked in on boots is serious business along with the gravel.
Best edited video.
Great job. Nice sounds too
Oh, I'm glad to hear that. I am a bit experimental with the soundtracks and I get it isn't for everyone.
Great video, very interested to know the water floor soak away system details..?
Kevo Pickett Thanks. Here’s a page from my website that will give you all the info on my floor: www.radgarage.ca/swisstrax-floor.html
Superb video as always!!! Good Job Rick!!
Nicky Bond Thanks Nicky.
I just love your work! Keep going. You're the detailing king for me. Greetings from Kosovo
That means a lot. Thanks.
Gosh, do I love those rotor design wheels. Great work as always.
Jared Toops A strong contender for the best OEM wheel of all time! Thanks Jared. Chasing the Zen!
Wow what a transformation 😯👍
Love your videos
Steven Smith Not bad for an old dude out in the ‘burbs, eh?
I like to take a lot of pride with my car as well. Nothing better than seeing a nice clean shiny car 👍😁
It is one of life's greatest joys!
Simply Amazing as always Rick 5 ***** Star !!! Been watching Rick from his start and learned so much from him :) Let's get him to 100K everyone he deserves and then 1Mil lol ... Rick now your BIL cant say how do I keep it clean he now has the video to show him the Rick way lol ... Keep them coming Rick thnxs
Boston DJ Company Thanks for the encouraging feedback. I don’t think he will let anyone ride in his car now!
Best edited detail videos on TH-cam
That's what I want to hear! Thank so much.
I agree with pan,
You will definitely rack up the subscribers. I look forward to your videos coming out.
Also did you use bead maker as a clay lube? Or am I seeing things?
Thanks. That kind of positivity and support means a lot. I used the new Detail Spray by Ethos as a clay lube. The label design is similar. Made me look twice in fact.
Does RAD stand for Rick's Auto Detailing 🤔
Nope. Back in 2014 I started a build thread on garagejournal.com and I dubbed my thread 'Rick's Audi Double" but that just kind of shortened to RAD. Thanks fo the question.
Wow, nice car and great detailing skills
Jackson Piazza Thanks. I love these B8 S4’S
Jonathan Edwards He was very impressed. New cars don’t come with lines.
Completely stunning Rick!, you are the MAN👍👍
Kyle D Tell my wife.
RAD GARAGE LMAO!!!
Thanks!
Glad to have you on board!
@@RADGarage Thank you!
No problem. They come in handy for lots of different uses.
Hey I just noticed whenever you're cleaning the wheels and exhaust tips you are using the same apc in a pump sprayer. Wondering what product it is?
I have used wheel cleaners as well as Adam's Multi-Purpose Foaming Cleaner and they both work well. That first part of the process is targeting the loose debris and weakening the bond between the carbon and the stainless steel. I then follow with steel wool (if they are really built up) or just move to the polishing soap stage.
RAD GARAGE would you recommend the mtm foam cannons and their triggers ? I heard the triggers are great for tight spots like wheel wells
If OG sells it, you can bet it is good.
Great work! You inspired me to do my 14 black s4 hahah!
Great cars. I hope the detail went well for you and produced satisfying results the way this one did for me!
Top work rick.i love to see your videos and the detail of the job .salut from Portugal 🇵🇹😄👍💯
Awesome, thank you!
Take care.
@@RADGarage I'll have to try them out. Do they finish well enough to be used as a 1 step correction ?
In some cases, yes.
I am literally speechless at this. WOW
Asif You liked it?
@@RADGarage definitely did! Not sure what I enjoyed more, the detailing itself or the videography. Absolutely amazing! Keep it up
I wish I could teleport my A5 to you for some tlc
That would be awesome. I love working on vehicles of people who appreciate my approach. Where exactly are you in the world?
@@RADGarage England. I do my own car but don't have a garage to do it with as much care and attention like you've done.
These videos are so satisfying to watch. Keep up the great work, glad that I found this channel and subd! Looking forward to seeing more details!
SynisterGT I love to hear when someone finds me and likes my stuff. Glad to have you along for the ride!
Rick, how many Rupes wool pads med did you use for this job? One and kept it clean or two to complete this job? Well done and informative again
tsifty1 Lots. Two “coarse” 5.75” and two “coarse” 3.75” + two “medium” 5.75” and “medium” 3.75”. Plus, I used a few of the Adam’s “one step” pads.
Good luck!
Wow! Loved every second!
John Dunnington Glad to hear you liked it!
Yeahhh I got the price right!! Great video Rick, good to see you cherish family and are willing to combine your passion for car detailing with family, as becomes obvious by looking at the price!
Edit: Rick you forgot to put 0:00 in the description, now the timestamps are not visible in the video player. Not a big deal for me at all, just a heads up ;)
Let me fix that pronto!
