I think he was merely trying to show that you can cover an average size room in under an hour. In this situation (painting over a dark green), a second coat is absolutely required. Two coats is the norm with the flexio to achieve a professional look. An airless sprayer system would've covered it with one coat, but for the "once-in-a-while painter" the flexio is the greatest economical choice.

Great job on the video. I have the Home Depot version 3500 bought for $169.99 and I love it. Have painted 8 interior rooms this year as well as used for staining a new exterior deck. Of course a brush and roller may be needed at times to fine tune hard to reach or lightly sprayed areas but not that often in my case. The key to getting the single pass effect is first get a high quality single coat paint. Then fine tune the sprayer with your individual paint or stain testing on practice surfaces to gain experience. I agree with you this unit works great for a DIY landlord. I know because I am one.
I just bought the flexio 3500 and would like to know what settings and what paint do you use for interior and do you thin paint out too or no need too? I also have 3 rentals so I usually do the work my self. do you prefer this spray gun or the one with the long hose?
This was very helpful, but when considering the time it takes to complete a project, I also factor in prep time. That will be considerably longer than an hour if you're talking about a fully furnished room.
I got my self a sprayer. So thankful for the vid mate. What I’ve taken away is. You should use the sprayer to hit up the edges and corners and roller for the rest. And a brush when needed. Thanks again
I own a painting company and the one only time I use a sprayer is for commercial contracts or when I have to smoke seal homes/ framing after a major fire. I can tell you that taping and covering floors/ trim/ windows takes time to do. And using that paint guide he's using is far from perfect. I can absolutely have that room painted quicker than he sprayed it. He needs to put a second coat after it dries and he needs to cut in the ceiling still using a brush to make a proper line. Sprayers have their place but I know it's not speeding anything up for that specific project. Good old brush, sleeve and a drop sheet is still the best and fastest way to paint that room.

I am professional painter too and I can tell you I can paint that room in less then 30 mins cutting walls and rolling. 18 inch roller , if you sprayed paint and the owner wants to touch up later on he probably will roll it and not match !
Maybe a roller and extension pole would be nicer and just a trim on top and bottom and less prep more care and detail you be good with 1and a half hour but less cleanup and better quality I think
Hi - Yeah, I would use a different paint gun. I do have a new paint gun, the Graco (amzn.to/3uICyPW). It would have allowed for more even coverage and probably would speed up the time since you do not need to add water to dilute the paint so that it can spray out.
Just a few tips, sprayers are used to paint over stuff that rollers can't roll over, and to also paint over things that you don't want brush strokes on --- trim, cabinets, crown molding, window casing, etc. Spraying always takes longer to do because of the prep work, but has a better result in the end for trim, cabinets, crown molding, window casing, etc. It's also pointless to spray a wall unless the wall has a really jagged texture that a roller can't fully fill. The most efficient way to paint a room is to freehand brush the trim, wall edges, window casing and roll the wall. The best quality is to spray the trim, window casing, molding etc, then spray the wall edges a few inches to prevent brush strokes, then roll the wall with a roller.
another tip is that sprayers release alot of fumes into the air, and those fumes travel throughout the area and stick to whatever it lands on, so you might end up with a ton of paint that travelled through your hvac system and messed up your filter, etc.
Thank you for sharing your experience with this sprayer. I have four rooms I’d like to paint and was considering this method and exact tool. I know for certain now that this approach is not for me. I couldn’t understand why so many painters were stating that rolling and cutting would be better, and I finally get it. Spraying isn’t faster if you don’t get the coverage after all that prep work. You’ve saved me time and money. I believe this sprayer has its sweet spot, but it’s probably not for interior walls and time saving. Great knowledge share!
Nice work!! I have the same routine for my properties but I fill in with an extra wide roller after I cut in the corners goes on faster and thicker the first time no touch ups
If you are painting the outside of your house, I wouldn't recommend this one. You need to use a thicker specialty paint because of the stucco and this one would not allow for it to spray out. You would have to dilute the paint with water, which would interfere with the final color and properties of the paint. I use the Graco (link included afterward) now for all of my jobs. It is more powerful, cordless, and can spray out thicker paint. Good luck with your project and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. amzn.to/3uICyPW

Hey thanks for the video. I love the fact that you didn't have to tape by using that paint guide. Glad I saw this video as I am getting ready to paint my house to sell it.
Here is my situation. I just built a very large shed that is connected to another building. I have a Graco X5 airless that I painted the outside of the new building with. There is a section where the two buildings connect that I can't access with the X5. I would have to carry everything onto the roof and I can't do that. I am looking for a handheld airless for this one section. I need something that will do the job but I don't want to spend a fortune.
What type of paint will you spray? Depending on the thickness, it might not be sprayable without first thinning the paint. This might be a good one to use, but depends on the size of the wall so you do not overheat the unit.
@@TheRealMikePrez I am spraying latex. I also thinned the paint a little for the X5 although I'm not sure it was necessary. In my experience only airless sprayers are worth a damn. I bought an hvlp or whatever you call it at harbor freight and that thing won't spray anything thicker than water.
Im fairly new at airless painting and don't understand how the guys on these videos don't have to wipe their shield. Mine gets soupy after doing one small wall. Do the pros have to wipe them often but just not mentioning it? I used color for the first time and over sprayed the ceiling smh. It's harder than it looks. Nice vid!

Good job. I was looking for another way to paint quickly after I finished my room project. Paint sprayer, just wasn't for sure whether I should use it. Maybe I'll try it. Just have to make sure I have the right tools to go along with sprayer.
Will using a paint sprayer leave a coat of paint on the ceilings and windows etc .. like it does when you’re using spray paint? I have a paint sprayer but do nervous about using it as don’t want to completely screw everything up!
Thanks! It is called a shield guard. It's reusable. Just make sure to wipe it after every use to reduce the paint buildup. Here's a link to a similar one on Amazon: amzn.to/3PKMoJm
id be very intrested in seeing your floor after you remove the covers you need to tape the hole way around the room not just bits here and there. plus cover your windows. i know you got the room done in x amount of time but your clean up is going to take a good chunk of your time. weldone tho
Sprayer is fast as long as you mask EVERYTHING you don’t want to paint on. With a roller you have more control. For a one room job I’d go with a roller. Spray creates tiny droplets that fly all over. My experience as a non professional painter anyway
In the vids, you have used paint shield. Is it enough to avoid over spray in other area? Or do I have to masking all other area except painting area? Thx
No. Its really to protect paint from getting on to a near or adjacent item you do not want paint on. Best to cover up as much as possible to avoid overspray
@@TheRealMikePrez Cool video. Other than the thinning out, do you have to run it through a strainer? Mine was getting clogged every 10 minutes and it wasted a lot of time. Also, what do you use to thin it out, just water? Thanks man.
Probably took a few days for all the fumes to be let out. I would suggest to put a fan in the window facing outward so it can draw the fumes and smell out.
You can the inside of the container has the intake angled to suction the paint. If you do, you definitely want to protect you face, eyes, and the floors.

Если вы хотите использовать краскораспылитель более высокого качества, где не нужно разбавлять краску, рекомендую краскораспылитель Graco по этой ссылке: amzn.to/3XRmVAa
I watched this video twice. because of your technique with the guard usage. and your other information I thought was really good because I'm going to do my living space. and I would like to do it in a quicker way than rollerz/brush. So to put on the 2nd coat it probably will take you not quite as long as the 1st so that's still pretty darn good. Q. If you decided to do the baseboard trim and the trim around the windows a different color would you have masked off those areas instead of just running the sprayer and guard? Or Would you have used a paintbrush and roller?
Esta bien el video pero no dicen cuanto de agua que agregar a la pintura ni la potencia de la pistola a pulverizar creo que falto en la ultima pared una mano mas
Thanks! I would first make sure the sprayer is cleaned. So unscrew the canister, pour some warm water and paint thinner inside, screw it back on, and spray into a sink for 5 - 10 seconds off and on. Then clean the nozzle heads with warm water and paint thinner to break up any large pieces of dried paint. After that, I would make sure the paint is thinned out prevent clogging. Start by mixing 10% water and 90% paint. If it still splatters or clogging, then increase to 15%. Just don't want to add too much water because then it becomes runny. It could also be the type of paint you are using and the brand. Some paints are better than others when using a sprayer.
Thanks for the video. Some videos don't recommend this sprayer for interiors. Now like u I want to use it for that once in a while interior job. What do u think? Also using that paint brand Valspar. To thin or not?
@@Blah-blah-sure Not a problem. YEah I understand people do not want to use it for interior stuff because of the overspray. Depending on the paint and the amount pushing out, it can be minimzed. However, I would always recommend to do the proper prep work and cover anything you do not sprayed. Witht eh Valspar, you should thin it out to maybe 10%. Hope that helps.
I just used the 3000 to paint a bath room. I had issues with it spitting, so I had to experiment to figure out how to make it stop. First, don't fully pull the trigger, the trigger has two stages. Stage one: half trigger starts the turbo fan to get it up to speed. Stage two: full triggers squeeze feeds the paint. So start out half trigger squeeze and get the fan up to speed then full squeeze to paint. I also adjusted the material amount and fan speed. Using Valspar latex, material setting at 9 and fan speed at 8 seemed to give the most consistent mist. I also kept a wet rag handy because if the gun started spitting, usually there was a build up of paint on the nozzle, so I would wipe it frequently. Don't start and stop if you can help it. Once you get it going, keep spraying as long as you can. Also, I found it would start spitting when the canister was getting empty, so keeping more paint in the canister will help. Cheers.
Hey man! Just picked up the Wagner and going to be using the Behr Ultra + Primer Acrylic, I seen you used an acrylic with primer as well. What settings did you find worked best if you remember to eliminate overspray
Woah, please don’t do this at home. It doesn’t take much to see overspray will be everywhere including those windows, ceilings, baseboard, and the air ducts. I don’t see a single comment saying this worked for them and I can’t imagine how it would. You have to clean and mask off anything you don’t want paint on if using a spray gun. Someone’s going to spend 10+ hours trying to get that paint off what it shouldn’t be on doing it this way. I appreciate you trying to help others out but this isn’t the way.
Hey, I have this sprayer and I have never used it. I'm painting the ceiling in my basement (rafters). Will this sprayer work properly pointing it straight upwards at the ceiling??
It should work properly. I would definitely say to wear protection and a respirator so you do not breathe in the paint overspray. And make sure you cover all of the surfaces you do not want overspray.
@@rayspooner1982 you better cover the whole floor with tarp or clear sheet. When you paint ceiling with a sprayer, you are going to get oversoray all over the floor. I would paint the ceiling the traditional way and paint the wall with the Wagner. Paint the trims with good paintbrush (Purdy). Purdy paint brushes are incredible and last forever. Then use the sprayer. I'm not kidding about Purdy brushes. I've owned them for 16 years now and the bristles still look brand new and is a joy to paint with them.

I bought an hvlp or whatever you call it
at harbor freight and that thing won't spray anything thicker than water.
Nice vid!
I have this same project today, thanks for saving me time. Great information video.
How did that time saving method work out . Did you make up for it with overspray clean up
@@New-Breed-Drywall-And-Paint after the hallway I spent loads of time masking and prepping every down surface. I would definitely recommend a better sprayer for faster results.
100% a hell of allot of clean up to be done windows floor ect i think he needs to clean up his work before he shows other people.
good effort tho@@New-Breed-Drywall-And-Paint
Great vid! Ok, so maybe the cone head is not so attractive, but that balaclava is the bomb. Where did you get it?
Lol thanks. ITs from Home Depot
Well done 👍
I purchased the flexio 2500 to paint the interior of a 1700 sq ft new home...thankfully no flooring, cabinets or furniture in the home yet!
Nice! How did it turn out?
@@TheRealMikePrez it went well, had one of those 2 foot long panels to cover the corer as two different color walls were preferred. The cleaning of the machine wasn't as hard as I was expecting. I enjoyed using it to paint out trim and baseboards...hundreds of feet of trim/baseboards so it was helpful
Thank You for they demonstration👍👍
LOOKS GOOD, DO YOU OWN A ZO6 ?
how many times did you re-fill the cup?
Once for each wall. So four times
Just curious how did you record this video in 2 screens?
iOS app DoubleTake
Your a bloody star mate! Exactly what I needed to see, tip Job👍
Thanks 👍
Nice set up whats tool called straight edge to stop over spray on windows thanks
Thanks! It is called a shield guard. It's reusable. Just make sure to wipe it after every use to reduce the paint buildup. Here's a link to a similar one on Amazon: amzn.to/3PKMoJm
Cut and roll = approx 45 mins. Airless = approx 15 minutes + mask up.
Hello - the material says flexio 3000 but the link says flexio 595 - is it the same thing?
It is actually the same one. Unsure why they changed the name.
id be very intrested in seeing your floor after you remove the covers you need to tape the hole way around the room not just bits here and there. plus cover your windows.
i know you got the room done in x amount of time but your clean up is going to take a good chunk of your time.
Could I use the Qx2 to paint one garage wall or do I need a more expensive model?
looks like u need a 2nd coat ?
Did you need to thin the paint or anything before spraying?
Yes. You want to start with maybe 5% and test spray and increase.
@@TheRealMikePrez damn, got me doing math now lol. Was hoping to dump and spray
@@TheRealMikePrez Cool video. Other than the thinning out, do you have to run it through a strainer? Mine was getting clogged every 10 minutes and it wasted a lot of time. Also, what do you use to thin it out, just water? Thanks man.
How long do the fumes last? Do you tape. The bottom of the door so they don't leak out?
Probably took a few days for all the fumes to be let out. I would suggest to put a fan in the window facing outward so it can draw the fumes and smell out.
Could you spray the ceiling? Or would tipping it up stop the flow?
You can the inside of the container has the intake angled to suction the paint. If you do, you definitely want to protect you face, eyes, and the floors.
you got a couple more hour there bud ;)
Had a whole extra day lol
Sir how long you wait for second coat after first one was done?
4 hours
Dude you look like the guy from the movie incredibles... I forgot his name but you do
Hahaha Frozono ? True
@@Rovier.g I can't remember his name but he was like the one who freezes stuff
You could use an 18in 😊 roller and paint that room in half an hour.
That is the splotchy-est paint job I've ever seen... and you think you're "done" and that looks good? O_O
You won't be able to touch it up.
What is that giant spatula called ? I can't find one anywhere.
It is called a paint shield. You can pick one up from Amazon fro about $20. Hope this helped. amzn.to/3Aa0GLS
The amount of OVERSPRAY that will get all over the window, door, and trim will be terrible.
I have seen some of those sprayers leaking from the nozzle quite heavily. Do you have that issue?
I have. But it was because I didn’t tighten it all the way. So I check every time and haven’t had the issue since.
I was always concerned to spray inside because of overspray
Same. Just have to make sure you have everything covered (floors, windows, doors)
Very informative! Thank you!
Right on man. That sharp metal spray Shield looks handy. Great video and keep them coming
Thanks 👍
Ty for the resources
Do you recommend the spray gun for cabinets and let me know if looks better whit roll
I actually do and used it to paint some cabinets white. th-cam.com/video/de1IkN5JxWU/w-d-xo.html
I think a second coat is needed. It doesn't have that finished look at all. It looks half done.
What about cutimg walls&ceilings? Im sure there is no straight line...
Wow! I've never seen this done before, great job! 😻
Please tell me you put a second coat in that room
Does the gun overheat?
Good question. No it doesn’t. I have used it almost continuously for more than an hour and it ran great.
Esta bien el video pero no dicen cuanto de agua que agregar a la pintura ni la potencia de la pistola a pulverizar creo que falto en la ultima pared una mano mas
Great video, thanks!
Is there a trick to prevent cligs and splatters because this thing gave me so much issues. Great vid👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
@@TheRealMikePrez it does thanks for the response
Cheers.
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
hello what paint to use?
So I currently use Valspar Reserve. It has good scratch and scuffs protection and can be applied in one coat
Thanks for your video
Most welcome
Hey man! Just picked up the Wagner and going to be using the Behr Ultra + Primer Acrylic, I seen you used an acrylic with primer as well.
What settings did you find worked best if you remember to eliminate overspray
Great job but i just saw a video of a guy paint a room in 9 minutes. Why did yours take an hour?
Excellent video!
Title is so misleading. So how long did it take to get a finished room?
Closer to an hour and 15 minutes once you factor in the touchups and pouring new paint.
Yea this thing sucks
Does not look even in the back wall, thanks for sharing the idea though
Woah, please don’t do this at home. It doesn’t take much to see overspray will be everywhere including those windows, ceilings, baseboard, and the air ducts. I don’t see a single comment saying this worked for them and I can’t imagine how it would. You have to clean and mask off anything you don’t want paint on if using a spray gun. Someone’s going to spend 10+ hours trying to get that paint off what it shouldn’t be on doing it this way.
I appreciate you trying to help others out but this isn’t the way.
Need dat second coat.
My friend this room is screaming for a second coat
Definitely had to do one lol
Hey, I have this sprayer and I have never used it. I'm painting the ceiling in my basement (rafters). Will this sprayer work properly pointing it straight upwards at the ceiling??
It should work properly. I would definitely say to wear protection and a respirator so you do not breathe in the paint overspray. And make sure you cover all of the surfaces you do not want overspray.
@@TheRealMikePrez Thank You!
@@heyoou I did cover the floor. I used the Wagner for the ceiling cuz its a basement and there's nails poking through so you can't roll it and brush takes forever and gets frayed. I agree 100% on Purdy brushes, they are the best especially for cutting ceilings and trim.
Think of the paint you saved with all those light spots
👍🏾👍🏾
Why does your paint look so patchy?
Probably before it dried
Brother do you put water to reduce the thickness of the paint for better flow? How much percent? And what do you use to clean it?
You usually put 10% water until you get a single cream consistency.
If you use a water based paint - clean it with water.
@@voodoochile333 heeyy do you recommend ta spray gun for cabinets
IDK....I was just using this, and the overspray is a LOT, so I am switching back to roller and cutting brush
Yeah, I've found that it really depends on the type of paint and how much is coming out. I took decided to just use a roller on a different product since we just laid down new carpet in the area.
Funny. About not likely the painters hood 🤣
Lmao uhh what did I just watch? Sorry man it’s just interesting to me.. I’ve owned a paint company for several years now and the only way this would be faster is if your a homeowner who doesn’t know how to paint I guess.. brush and roll should take about 20 mins
I know this video is a joke but a bigger joke is you thinking you could paint this room in 20 min 🤡
