Was the ability to enable track monitoring not a function back when this video was made? Wouldn’t that make it so you inherently hear what you’re recording?
USB interfaces can carry many channels of audio. My Motu 8Pre can record up to 16 channels of audio over a standard USB connection to my computer...The limit of only 2 channels is not due to the fact this mixer uses a USB interface.
there is something little confusing in this tutorial because by not pressing the red button above the room/phone controller normally you can't get any sound from you computer back to the mixer even if the main mix is controlled by the phone/control-room controller can you explain us how it works?
This is only to hear back your recording even if the button is pressed or not compare to not hearing anything playback if you had the speakers only connected to the main output for the speaks. I do say a few times its if you want to hear your music playing back while your also recording at the same time all together.
Hey Elias, I have a question about the Behringer xenyx ufx1604...I'd like to be able to record my 3 man band all at once into Mixcraft 6, (or if there's any other software I'd need) and edit the channels individually in the software. Thanks!
i can't see why not, Mixcraft 6 -7 versions allows Multi-track recording with in/out and the firewire mixer ufx should have all channels opened going into and out of the computer. I would go into the settings of Mixcraft and check that all inputs/outputs are showing opened for all channels showing your mixer has each available.
Hi, Thanks for the tutorials on this product. They've been helpful, but I didn't find my specific question answered in any of your videos on this mixer so I'm gonna ask here. Right now I'm looking to buy a new audio interface or mixer. The problem with my old M-Audio Fast Track Pro was that I could not record outboard FX with it. Whenever I would try to record with my Korg Kaoss Pad I would get a buzzing sound which I figured out later was called a feedback loop. Apparently you simply can't plug in the outputs of the Kaoss Pad into the inputs of the Fastrack Pro, and the outputs of the Fast Track Pro to the inputs of the Kaoss Pad. I was considering getting a Steinberg UR-44, but in doing a little research I found that some people were basically having the same problem with trying to record other outboard FX. I've never used a mixing board in my own setup. I've always had an audio interface so I'm not sure if a mixing board with an FX/Aux send will do the trick. Do you think that with the fx or aux send capabilities of the Behringer X1622 I will be able to connect my Kaoss Pad to the mixing board and record FX with the Kaoss Pad on my computer without having a feedback loop problem? I have one other quick question. If I plug in headphones to the mixing board will that automatically shut off outputs connected to speakers?
+August Fanon Yes aux/fx are always the better way forward and the great thing about a on board system is you have full controls on all levels and can specify how or where to route what you need. An for the last question its no, plugging your headphones doesn't override the main output from your speakers.
August Fanon Are you sure? because i don't have this board anymore due to the restriction and limitation it had when i wanted to record more than 2 channels at the same time. Just be sure before you buy this bro. If your only going to connect and handle a lot of instruments than okay go for it but if you wanna record a lot connected than look somewhere else or get a firewire mixer or make sure you get a mixer that clearly states that it can multi track record.
I understand what you are saying, but this board would actually be a slight upgrade from my M-Audio Fast Track Pro. That interface could only record two channels at a time as well. With this board I'll be able to record fx so I'm cool with that. Right now I do a lot of music with people remotely. So I don't do too much recording at my studio. I just send out tracks and then the Artist sends me back the vocals, and then I'll mix it myself or sometimes it will be mixed at the vocalists studio. Every once in a while I might get the urge to get on the mic, but essentially the only two instruments I'm gonna be recording are going to be the MicroKorg and Kaoss Pad. I will probably connect (daisy chain), them in the process anyway. Sooner than later I'd like to incorporate some turntables, but I don't think that will be a problem.
I have one question. I see that you can direct one of three sources to the phones/ctrl room output. Can you select multiple sources? Like, can I listen to Sub 1-2 and 2-Tr/USB in Phones/Ctrl Room at the same time? Thank you so much if you see this.
oh, geez I can't remember? i think so but am not 100% sure, sorry i can't follow answer your question and can't test it out as I don't own the mixer any more.
Elias Gadgets I got a hands-on experience with the mixer at my local music store this past Friday-- yes, you can select and listen to multiple sources for Phones/Ctrl Room. :)
I'm guessing if using with multiple speakers a. They need to be active speakers or have an amp for passive? And also if I was to hook up a set of active speakers thought back XLR can I use the front 1/4 inch jack on the front as well? Also can I use the sub outs to a separate amp for monitor speakers on stage? Thanks
You have 2 mixers and were not able to record your voice with a mic and the "Monitoring" sound of the Behringer control room line so both could be listened to? I had to volume up the sound to hear your voice and had to reduce volume once there was an output on the monitor/control room line. That, in a kind, ruined a very useful video. And you could have described the "two knobs" of the FX section more precise. The 3rd knob, the one in each input line, just defines how much of the sound effect is present on that channel, so one can differentiate the hall effect between the lead singer and the background voices. The left knob on the FX section itself works like the gain knob on the mic lines and should be set so, that on loud parts the vu meter beside the FX indicator do not clip. The right knob kind of works like the volume level of each channel, it sets the level how "loud" the effect is mixed into the master signal.

Hi, Sorry for the late reply but mixer version doesn't really matter, they are pretty much the same. If you watch the vid, I do so you how you can hear the sound both playing back and recording at the same time, its about what connection output you would use for you speakers and I think the best way is to use the control room out-put which is like listening in your headphones,
@@EliasGadgets also very important is to make sure that the channel solo button for the instrument plugged into the mixer is not pressed down. The main solo red light to the left of the mixer will be off(if all the main solo buttons are not switched on on each channel). The mixing of that instrument can be controlled via the channel slider and the main mix sliders allowing great control of the playback mix from the computer via the control room knob and the instrument is controlled via the mixer channel and main mix sliders (as it supposed to be for clean inputs) BTW Elias, thank you for you tutorial series on this mixer, It helped bridge a lot of things i may have missed. Thanks, I would use the Canon 600D or 70D with always a prime lens, 50mm 1.4 which makes vids super sharp. Pity that TH-cam doesn't even truly seem to show the actual quality of what I record. Looking at picking up the sony 4k camcorder to start doing my recordings at even better quality soon.

+John Paul Faustino Pablo Hmm, that a weird on for FX? have you tried everything in the vid making sure on the master main section both main fx unit is turned up? if it still does not work than I think there could be something wrong with the board itself.
+Elias Gadgets (Gary) the only way it works is if I press Down the mute button and put alt 3-4 down and turn up the fx and the main mix and volume/phone all the way up and the fx volume is getting a lot of white noise. Do you think that the board is the problem?

Hello, I want to ask some Questions. I use this mixer x1622usb but when I plug my electric guitar on the mixer the sound is good but when i want to play it on my Guitar Rig & Amplitude on my DAW, there's no input signal and the sounds is still the same just like acoustics guitar on every effects that i use so how to solve it.
+ItsMeAifandyTV - Not really sure here what the problem is and plus i don't have the mixer to test and see what it could be but I would suggest you check your settings in Guitar rig itself.. make sure you go under audio and midi settings and check that you have selected the Behringer output/input.. if that doesn't work than than try reinstalling the drivers for the mixer and check again.

This is Totally Misleading!!!! You can record ALL the mixing channells (or imputs) or your band, voice instruments, etc. up to the numer of channels that are on your mixer. The thing you mean to say is that it will all ony record down on to one stereo or 2 mono tracks on you software on computer. I know, I just called my local Guitar center and asked the guys that sell them. Please report info correctly!!!! It was very misleading for me!!!!
So you can’t record individual channels like 1 guitar and it’s own track, 1 male vocal and it’s own track and 1 female vocal and its own track? You have to commit to the mix into your DAW?

Is there a distortion and overdrive effect included in the FX section on this mixer?

Evri Dimitriou is your mixer working alright? make sure your pc hasn't got anything muted.

hi. i have a x1204 usb and i'm having trouble working with the fx. the volume is too low to matter how much i turn up the volume knob.

Have you tried opening the preferences in GR or AMP and see if you're using the USB codec?
