South Cotabato Jail. One of the most overcrowded prisons in the world. The guilty and the innocent, all are behind bars together. In a jail designed for 600 prisoners, more than 2000 inmates have been crammed into cells the size of shoe boxes. Thanks to President Duterte’s war on drugs, instead of only putting those convicted behind bars, thousands of accused individuals are forced to await a verdict together in inhuman conditions.

Ok but can we talk about the fact even though it's hot and smells terrible, putting the newbies on the top bunk in a corner in a room of mostly newbies, that's the by far safest thing that happened to them there.
This prison is not equipped to be a prison, from the booking 😬😬😬 everything is a mess. It is easy to be forgotten here

@@patnelson2091 Where people can (and do) literally commit crimes, get arrested, and immediately get released just to repeat it over and over again. All the while, law abiding individuals get severely punished simply for defending themselves. I was mugged twice in one year alone in SF. Both times in broad daylight, both times people quite literally walking feet away from me with averted eyes (due to not wanting to draw attention and danger to themselves).
What a joke. Theres a reason myself and many of my peers fled that god-forsaken state.

actually, this prison can be a good lesson for them who commit crime. they will think twice to do any crime after they released from this horrible place. because if they feel secure in the prison ,they will just take it for granted upon the freedom that they received after being released.

thats true. Im from austria an people make fun about out prisons because its more like holidays compared to other countries. The prison in the Video is very far away from the prisons in my home country. Nearly everyone has a TV and kinds privacy.

They are, victims of poverty, poor or no education, power structures indifferent to their suffering, rampant gangs, widespread drug use, food scarcity, decades of colonialism, weak family unit, lack of a social fabric, daily violence and murder, over population, very few opportunities for gainful employment. And so many more reasons. Most people on this planet live a life you couldn't even begin to understand, you just won the genetic lottery and were born in a 1st world country. Educate yourself a little bit. It's the least you can do.
