It doesn't cost the government "bilions of dollars" because its construction is funded exclusively by private donations, following Antoni Gaudí's wishes. This is also one of the main reasons why it's taking so long to build.
Only the construction itself is off contributions, who do you think pays the workers? Wages, materials, land, etc there are lots of variables that cost money and nothing is free. The government still has to pay for many things that for the people is just impossible to fund solely on contribution
@@Bruh..669 Donations are one of two sources where the money for construction comes. The other one is the prize of entry for tourists. The average number of visitors is around 3.1 million who pay 30 euros for entering the church. Thats around 90 million euros a year raised. Thats how wages, materials and all your etcs are paid and one of the main reasons the construction has accelerated in recent decades. Not only the goverment hasnt paid a dime for the building, it recently recieved 36 millions in taxes because the legal status of the construction was finally resolved and the amount to pay for the permits agreed on.
Its an abomination and not a church of God. Its a modern Tower of Babel, nothing more. Its disguised as a church, however the fact that it's questioned more than the person it is supposed to represent, only proves that its a temple of Satan. Satan is an angel dressed in light to deceive those who aren't vigilant. The first Tower of Babel caused God to shatter languages and the continents, this one will mark the beginning of the end for mankind. God is a jealous God and there is no other god. This abhorrent abomination should be destroyed.
I was born in Barcelona so this city is super important to me. I love La Sagrada Família for what it is. I'm not even a Catholic Christian but I love it for how impressive of a human structure it is. I've been inside 10 years ago in a school trip. It was magical, I can't even begin to describe how awesome its structure looked from the inside. Please go visit it. It's amazing.
I went to the Sagrada Familia when I visited Barcelona last winter. It is so beautiful. The interior, design, and stained glass windows are amazing. You are also able to go up through the disciple towers in the front to almost the top of the building. The view from up there is beautiful, you can see almost all of Barcelona.
As someone who's born and raised in Barcelona. Barcelonians tend to forget that we have such a marble of a monument in our city. We often don't even pay attention to it even if we live close by, that's how common la Sagrada Familia is for us. In fact most Barcelonians have only seen once or twice the inside of La Sagrada Familia. The long queues and the expensive ticket fees are the biggest deterrents.
That's interesting. I have a passion for architecture and consider visiting Barcelona and The Sagrada Familia as something of a bucketlist item. It must be a part of human psychology to take for granted that which is always in front of our noses.
@@Hopscotchlemonadespritz It's not that we don't appreciate it. We certainly do. But rather, since is right there in front of you, most of the times you stop paying attention to it.

One of the greatest buildings on earth. and One of the finest works of art ever created by mankind. If I was going to make a list of the 7 wonders of the modern world it would absolutely be on it. The time, effort and intricacy of the building is mind-blowing. They planned a massive party for its completion but work has again stopped due to the pandemic. I'll 100% go and see it again hopefully for the opening celebration.
Iglesia Extraordinaria Muy Magnífica Y Hermosa. Que el pueblo de España tenga también un corazón magnífico y hermoso para alabar a Dios. Saludos desde el este de Indonesia❤️
The information in this video is inaccurate. The temple is NOT built with public money but through donations and the sale of tickets to visit it, this is how Gaudí wanted it, and it's one of the reasons why its construction has taken so long as well as the fact that It was partially destroyed during the Spanish Civil War and in post-war times its construction was stopped due to lack of funds.
I remember sitting in a cab, as I was lost in my thoughts of the beautiful evening I spent in Barcelona, it was nighttime time and the city was still bussing with tourists like me all around, just for a moment I looked out of the cab's window and saw the glimpse of "Basílica de la Sagrada Família", I couldn't believe at first that its a real thing or is it just my eyes deceiving me, the cab was close to the place where it is built so I couldn't see the top of the thing from inside, as I struggled to get a better view bowing my head down to see the top it became clear to me that's it's monstrously tall. To this day it haunts me how massive these things actually are.
Most infamously protracted project timeline in recent history, yes. I rly don't think that's what's worthy of recognition. Continued efforts to ensure its eventual completion despite huge challenges, are.
Prove it. And is that a threat? Follow Jesus or go to hell. This is why I hate Christians. You go around threatening people with torture like assholes.
What do you mean "cost the government millions of dollars every year"? I'm gonna leave behind the redundancy of saying dollars instead of euros. But apart from that, and as you already stated, it is a building initially funded by private donations. And nowadays, the number of yearly visitors and their entrance fees is so vast that the entire construction cost was completely paid more than a decade ago. More than that, it gets the government a lot of revenue in direct taxes; and it generates way more indirect money by being the main symbol of one of the most touristic cities in Europe. Do you imagine Paris without the Eiffel Tower? Or Rome without the Colosseum? Or Istambul without the Haggia Sophia? It's similar with Barcelona and the Sagrada Familia.
I’ve been all over the world; but standing outside this unfinished structure was just out of this world. It’s absolutely amazing. The photos I took do not do it justice, you have to see it with your own eyes.
I salute the late artitact and the every worker of this church to help to make this beautiful structure. Jesus Give them strength and bless this country too. Thank you Jesus. Amen
It's also a work of art and massive tourist attraction bringing in $10s of millions every single year to the city. I went to the city and this was the main reason why and I'm an atheist.

It actually rises milions of dollars for the city in the form of tourism and many other indirect net profitable consecuences.
