I came back from visiting my Dad in Paris the day Notre Dame burned downed. My Dad loves to cycle through the city. He would keep me updated on how the building process was going all the way through. I am so proud that it has been restored.
We saw Notre-Dame the year before the fire. I cried when I saw the fire. Cried for the people. Now it’s more beautiful than before for centuries from now I pray ❤
I’m not even French but when those devastating images were shown on TV as it burned, my eyes watered, my husband asked why are you crying? I said: this is not just a French Treasure it’s a World Treasure, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
I'm not catholic, however I can certainly appreciate Notre-Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris) beauty & historical and cultural significance to France. It is a treasured landmark & tourist attraction. Glad it is re-opening perhaps brighter, louder, and more colorful than ever.
They should just keep going and build a new wonder from the ground up somewhere else. Bring in people from all over the world to collaborate. Imagine what they could accomplish is they applied our modern industrial might to old world building methods and architecture.
What a joy to see this breathtaking Cathedral restored to her original glory. I’m in awe of the talent of the artisans who took on the gargantuan task of restoration of this magnificent house of worship!
Thankfully darkness WAS removed, from ashes like a Phoenix reborn now of the light. I recall in the 'dungeon' there was a chained corpse & BIG Mike was there to witness its fall, drinking some wine on an outside balcony... Curse REVERSED? 🎉
The restoration of Notre Dame is a testament to the enduring spirit and craftsmanship of humanity. The dedication and skill of everyone involved have brought back not just a building, but a symbol of faith and history. Bravo to all! 🇫🇷✨

I cried because of the power and beauty of the work and I’m so excited to see Her restored and magnificent IMPOSSIBLE IS NOT FRENCH!!! Vive la France 🇫🇷 ASÉ ASÉ ASÉ ASÉ !
I did see it years ago and, honestly, found it to be architecturally impressive but gloomy. These current images, AFTER the fire and restoration--especially the cleaning of the artwork--indicate it is MUCH more impressive and beautiful today.
As a Roman Catholic when Notre Dame burned, we all cried. I couldn't even go to work. I cried so hard that day. That church was almost the equivalent to the vatican burning. One of my life's goals is to visit it. To hear those bells again and organ...it gives you hope...
I'll admit, I have no connection whatsoever to Notre Dame, but when it fell,..it was very emotional. Now,..rebuilt,..again..emotions I am surprised by. But I'm very happy they’ve done such an amazing job! Well done!!
I am the same. I'm a Christian, but not a Catholic. And Notre Dame is not a Catholic cathedral any more, I believe, anyway. But the history. The significance of the original accomplishment. I would feel the same about any original Gothic structure, I think, were it in the same circumstance & given the same coverage, but I don't know that for sure. I had the same reaction as you, though, when it was burning. My heart ached for the loss. I did believe, though, right from the beginning, that it would be fully restored. There really was no other option. And it had been, and they've done such a tremendous job. I want to visit Notre Dame, now. I'd go there just to see it, as well as a few other cathedrals in Europe, such as Chartres. Just stunning works of art & of devotion.
@ChrisHyde537 I was just under the impression that it doesn't belong to the Catholic Church & isn't part of a diocese. So not an official Catholic cathedral.
@ChrisHyde537 I looked it up. Seven cathedrals in France are owned by the government of France, but the Church is given exclusive license, in perpetuity, to use them for religious purposes. So the cathedral is still used, regularly, for religious services, but it's wholly owned by the state. Very interesting.
Should you visit the many wonders of Paris, I wish you a pleasent stay! I've been living here for a long time and I'm still amazed everyday by its beauty. Other french cities and regions are definitely worth a visit as well!
I am so glad that Notre Dame is restored. This shows how the French people are resilient and still captured the wisdom of their ancestors. Mesmerizing work from a lovely people!
If I lived there, I would run, not walk to midnight Mass, so beautiful! The French craftsmen and women should be very proud of doing such an awe-inspiring job.
I sang there in 1975 with America’s Youth in Concert. 17 years old singing Hayden’s Mass in Time of War was beyond anything my young mind could imagine.
I was raised Atheist, but delighted in visiting Westminster Abbey in London. I'd absolutely love to see the renewed and restored Notre Dame as well. Two amazingly important, historical sites!
@@SemperLiberi-80 not just the sacred but the neglected humanism that did the labor to create it. "God" did not "zap" Notre Dame into existence- humans built it. Yet would you deny their loss would be tragic? Human intelligence and skill built it all. That's why atheists can cry.
While I am not necessarily a religious person, it makes me very happy to see the restoration of Notre Dame, the true National Monument of France. I visited it with my Grandmother when I was nine years old, back in 1967. I was a little too young to truly appreciate where I was and what it represented. But now, as an American, I fully understand and respect what the French people have accomplished with this feat and effort. Bon Chance France.
This beauty burned on my 54th birthday. I cried watching the spire fall. I still can’t watch it without crying. The organ and bells bring her heart beat back. Thank you to everyone. ❤❤❤
I'm so glad they used old materials to make it last like it originally had its ready for another few hundred years. Very well done the workmanship looks amazing I wish that they would use these skills to build new buildings in the same way. They were not disposable buildings like today after so many years tear down and build something else and no style the ones like Notre Dame had style and grace and beauty and workmanship and inginuity and sturdy and weren't using natural resources over and over again built for few hundred plus years and can withstand war and weather.
Other cathedrals have burned in france recently so they might continue in those others. We have also thousands of catles to restore. You're right, making completely new building in medieval fashion or 18th fashion would be great instead of "modern horrors".

I have never been to Notre Dame but my mother was there many years ago. She was in Paris with a vacation group and had some time, so she went alone to Notre Dame to see the church. For years she has always told me that she went into the church and got scared because it was so dark and the statues looked very intimidating. Very quickly she left the church and went back to the group I think she would be amazed at how beautiful and bright Notre Dame is now after the restoration. Old things have disappeared, old things have become new, the contrast to before is very impressive. Even without looking through the lens of religion, the restorers have successfully created a new work of art, congratulations. Paris, you can be very proud Notre Dame du vieux nouveau fier de Paris 🧡

A $1 billion budget can accomplish many wonderful things. I was reminded when Grand Central Station's ceiling was restored and the blackout on the windows dating from WWII was finally removed.
U.S stock markets recently jumped 65 billion dollars in a day. That's money people are investing in speculative stocks. While I love that 45,000 U.S. citizens donated 40 million dollars, something is wrong in our system when there a hundred people here who could have donated the entire billion dollar cost and not even noticed a dent in their wealth.
It’s amazing to compare that all this exquisite brilliant artisan work on such a massive restoration scale cost 1 Billion but has set in place this globally beloved historical and spiritual center for -as the architect said “another 800 yrs. What an example to all of us! From the French people. Telling us in the New World, its worth to spend 1 billion and 5 yr of hard work together, to RESTORE an old collapsing building that's a part of history. Then just turn it down and build a new modern one. Icons like Notre Dame remind us of who we are, as French, as survivors, as human civilization. So the new generations can learn the story behind it and enjoy it. Part of of the human legacy. Great job Macron as an inspiring leader to believe in the impossible, as he said that word it's not in his French vocabulary. Vive La France! 👏🇫🇷
I went there in 1976, and was not impressed. It was so dark and dingy inside. I just cannot BELIEVE how beautiful it was under all that grime!! Wish I could afford to go back now...
It's important to realize that buildings had become covered with soot from the coal burning age in cities and then the advent of internal combustion engines. Now that we have emissions controls in place and are conscious of particulate pollution, old buildings need to be washed with the expectation that they will stay cleaner in the future than they did in the past.

Great report. And for the people who don't agree on the modern touches added to the cathedral (the bronze altar, bronze seating, new windows (partially), etc.: almost every century has added new elements to the cathedral. Viollet-le-Duc added the spire and changed so many things on the interior of the cathedral, for instance, so it's normal that our century also has new elements added to the ancient building.
God bless France. This country chose to work together. Great leadership. To hell with negative thoughts and people. Hard consistent honest work wins in the end.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. A nice little saying that sounds profound but is actually useless. Every situation is different. Besides, it has nothing to do with the rebuilding of Notre Dame.

French people are a people of founders and builders 😊
As a history nut obsessed with old buildings and antiquities…I cried like a baby watching it burn. Devastating. To see it restored is just breathtaking. What a magnificent structure. I’m American, but a Cajun French American, so it gives me a little pride to see how the French people so lovingly restored her to glory. ❤️🕊️
Will they continue the moloch rituals as in the past.? I hope not. There are still nasty entities around there because of those rituals. Clean only in looks.
Congratulations to the interviewer whose approach and style was intelligent and sensitive.. particularly his careful questioning and his manner of speaking slowly and clearly with so much care for the French speakers so that they could understand and give their best answers in a foreign language. You are an example of how to do it! Felicitations Monsieur!!!

When Notre Dame burned, a part of my soul died. I am so overjoyed to see her rebuilt and restored. I can't wait to visit her again.
Thank God a soul that's been hurt can heal and become whole and full again, right?
I came back from visiting my Dad in Paris the day Notre Dame burned downed. My Dad loves to cycle through the city. He would keep me updated on how the building process was going all the way through. I am so proud that it has been restored.

France didn’t loose Notre Dame, Europe, the world did, how amazing to see the rebuild and to find that donations came from all over the world.
I’m not even French but when those devastating images were shown on TV as it burned, my eyes watered, my husband asked why are you crying? I said: this is not just a French Treasure it’s a World Treasure, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
What is a loose Notre Dame? Is that a euphemism for burning down?
I'm not catholic, however I can certainly appreciate Notre-Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris) beauty & historical and cultural significance to France. It is a treasured landmark & tourist attraction. Glad it is re-opening perhaps brighter, louder, and more colorful than ever.
Great example of what can be accomplished when people come together. I would love to see it for myself.
They should just keep going and build a new wonder from the ground up somewhere else. Bring in people from all over the world to collaborate. Imagine what they could accomplish is they applied our modern industrial might to old world building methods and architecture.

The 860 year old cathedral will never be the same. I never got to see it in its original glory

I did see it years ago and, honestly, found it to be architecturally impressive but gloomy. These current images, AFTER the fire and restoration--especially the cleaning of the artwork--indicate it is MUCH more impressive and beautiful today.
To me, it's 100% reborn, both old and new alive together, made more precious by the love and dedication of thousands of people.
Its "original glory" was 800 years ago. What you will miss seeing is years of dirt.
It has changed a lot from the beginning.

As a Roman Catholic when Notre Dame burned, we all cried. I couldn't even go to work. I cried so hard that day. That church was almost the equivalent to the vatican burning. One of my life's goals is to visit it. To hear those bells again and organ...it gives you hope...
Me the same... But now very, very happy 🌹🌹🌹😍🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's a building. Jesus is bigger than a building.
@@larynOneka8080It’s a building which would never have been built, not to mention restored, if it were not for people who believed in Jesus!
@@bnjmnwstIt’s still a Catholic cathedral. They don’t check at the door anyway.
@ChrisHyde537 I was just under the impression that it doesn't belong to the Catholic Church & isn't part of a diocese. So not an official Catholic cathedral.
@ Archbishop Laurent Ulrich lead 1500 people through a reopening service tomorrow. Strange?
@ChrisHyde537 I looked it up. Seven cathedrals in France are owned by the government of France, but the Church is given exclusive license, in perpetuity, to use them for religious purposes. So the cathedral is still used, regularly, for religious services, but it's wholly owned by the state. Very interesting.
I’ve never had a desire to visit France, but now, my mind has been changed, and I definitely need to go see this monumental undertaking.

If one day you visit Notre Dame Cathedral there is also la Sainte Chapelle which is magnificent and close to this place.

Very quickly she left the church and went back to the group
I think she would be amazed at how beautiful and bright Notre Dame is now after the restoration. Old things have disappeared, old things have become new, the contrast to before is very impressive.
Even without looking through the lens of religion, the restorers have successfully created a new work of art, congratulations.

It’s amazing to compare that all this exquisite brilliant artisan work on such a massive restoration scale cost 1 Billion but has set in place this globally beloved historical and spiritual center for -as the architect said “another 800 yrs.

It's important to realize that buildings had become covered with soot from the coal burning age in cities and then the advent of internal combustion engines. Now that we have emissions controls in place and are conscious of particulate pollution, old buildings need to be washed with the expectation that they will stay cleaner in the future than they did in the past.
