Daniel Laverick could be the seal has perished or, on the odd occasion, can point to something more sinister like Crank Case pressure. With a small amount it’s unlikely to be the later! Hope that this helps
Glad this video came about when it did. After I did an oil change I thought something was wrong as I could hear a continuous whine sort of noise and was thinking great, I've gone and nudged something causing a failure. On reflection, and thnking rationally, I think it's always been there and once I got my ears into the car it's coming from the AC compressor, also sounds nothing like described, and since seen a few vids with the actual noise, which I have to say your impression is perfect! It's a version 4 too, so hopefully got a few more miles left in it. Blue and red? works for me!
Hi Darren really appreciate the videos that you and Ben do. Have learned a lot in the short space of time I have been following your videos. The commentary is brilliant. Keep up the good work lads! P.s where abouts are you guys from as I would like some work doing in the future. Many thanks Matt

Great Vid Darren and yes currently going through this with my sons ST first noticed the hum then the missfire have filter housing on order! nice touch about the serial number 5 I will look out for it Cheers Terry
Hi Darren massive fan of you and the boys awesome channel I have a version 5 housing I have a leak which appears to be coming from the top of the housing not sure if it’s housing on top or possibly the elbow going to the engine. Any ideas cheers
I once had that problem, had no choice but to drive off boost for 120kms with the dip stick slightly out. Made it back and immediately changed it. Would not recommend anyone to do that though!
Hello 🖐️ thanks for the video, it was very helpful. I wanted to ask you, why does the pcv circuit have to go into the intake, it can't discharge into the air?
I’ve got an oil leak on my focus st225 would it more likely be the oil filter housing or would it be the oil cooler help would be very much appreciated
Fantastic impression Darren 😂. Gonna have to check my housing version number tomorrow as mine is also a pre-facelift. Is it worth changing if it’s a version 1?
Hi guys, quick question for you, my 57 plate st225 has got an issue with the oil filter housing, it’s actually leaking better the plastic meeting the casing is there a reason what could of caused this? The previous owner has replaced the the housing in the past. Thanks for ur help
the first problem I had with the car was my Diaphragm going, looking to go breather kit now as apparently the standard housing wont cope past 500bhp, Good video bud
You’ll be fine up to about 500 on a standard filter housing. People over 400 just choose them to save ring landsman stock internals in an RS Setup usually. Can’t wait to see where the build is headed! When is the next video?
BD Performance when this weather lightens up just been busy at work tbh I did record taking my engine out don’t know how good the quality is cameras been messed up recently all the settings wiped off
Having a nightmare finding the version 5 part, Ford has ordered the part for the RS but not called version 5? You guys are doing my block mod but I don't think I can wait for the housing
@@BDPerformanceWrexham great thanks guys, I can go see it in the morning he said its the part that goes on the mk2 RS. If the numbers don't match 31338685 il buy yours. Its certainly leaking a little more than before 🤞
If you have a torque wrench to hand then that size fixing is usually 18nm but we can check the exact spec when back in work tomorrow sir! Hope that this helps and thanks for the comment 🙌
I changed the diaphragm recently and stopped this noise, but with an issue I have with my car, I've had the car checked out again and have been told the full housing unit has failed and causing the diaphragm to stick open or shut at times, is this common? Fuel trim was well out and confusing the maf and fuel making it run lumpy, quick question, had full service less than 100 miles ago, could I just top oil up instead of full change? Thanks mate, love your videos
This can be done without changing the or dropping the oil, however the units normally have a new filter so we would recommend renewing. Happy New Year 🥳
Apache Darren 😂, yeh to easy these days for people to jump to conclusions and jump on social media and start the blame game before knowing the facts! great vid nice to know what to look out for 👍🏼, look forward to up coming vid 🤘🏼
Loving the content I’ve just noticed my st making a whistle noise so I’m changing the oil filter housing do u think I should do the cam seals as well plus would u say it’s on easy diy job or better getting a professional to do it
Paul Stewart just check and monitor the seals. If the belt isn’t wet, there is no weep - then no need to change. But do keep an eye just incase it’s a delayed issue which can often occur. Good luck, thanks for watching and thank you for the comment 💙
The question is; the Block Mod - is it worth not doing it and taking the risk? Put that way then the answer is no. Against the cost of a Cambelt/Timing Belt job alone, the Block Mod isn’t much more money! We offer Block Mod alone for £649 or Block Mod and Water Pump for £748! You can book and pay online at store.bdperformance.co.uk or call us on 01978 758598 🙌
Great comment - some do buy the cheap foreign replacement diaphragm - however Ford / Volvo incorporated the vent for a reason. Simply replacing the diaphragm is not something we would consider for this very reason.
Just had mine changed. It then lost half of the coolant. The garage said it had a air lock and sorted it out. But now it's dropped coolant again and has slight milkshake in the oil cap. It's back to the garage Thurs. Lost to what to do now is it the oil housing? Is it head gasket?
Hi..And what when i have oil top of filter housing?
Patrik when it’s leaking from the lid you may have a bigger problem I’m afraid 😦
BD Performance im writing on facebook page..
What sort of problems cause oil on top of the filter housing? Mine is very small amount but i have noticed it

Another great video 👍🏾
Is it by the last number which tells you what version you have?
Yes it’s the last number on the lid that denotes the version.
Thanks for the comment and feedback 🙏

Is the version 5 the updated one with the stronger diaphragm? Maybe I should get mine changed when I come up to get the other things done.
ST Yusuf is yours a Version 1?
Will have to double check but I think so bud and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before that gives up!!
Roll on the 12th next mounth Im getting the BDP oil breather kit Fitted 👍
davy mac thanks Dave, that’s a good upgrade for you with the RS Turbo. Not such a necessity for any of the ST Turbo lads though 💙

My housing number on top ends in 84,is this a new part I have?

Hii...i dont have an indian whoa whoa noise but, when i floor the car it spills oil al over the inside of the bonnet and the oil filter hosing
Did you find out the issue as I have the same issue, seems to be spewing out
Is it ok to just change the diaphram?
How come so many change the whole oil filter housing when the diaphragm inside alone can be changed? Wouldn't this solve the issue??
