Best hose for Ridgid WD4070! Keep your larger attachments!

  • Wanted to explain the option I found that I think is the best for this popular Ridgid model. Using this hose kit let’s you use the larger 1 7/8” attachments instead of the smaller 1 1/4’ attachments you have to use if you get the auto detail era hose kit. This also helps maintain the best suction.

    Good hose is expensive so I get why the manufacturers go with the cheaper alternative as most for some reason would rather throw away and buy again for some strange reason. It’s nice that rigid made the better product available!

      So much easier to spend $ on the Ridgid hose than the crazy price for the Festool hose. Granted, that hose is amazing, but crazy expensive.

    Late to the party, but wanted to add that if you do want to get one of those adapters out of the hose end you just need to run hot water over it for a few minutes and it will soften up and allow you to pull the adapter.

    kinda funny, i bought the detailing kit because it's for my car. i just got the 6.5hp one on labor day for $100 (the one that you can detach and use as a leafblower too) and I have 2 orange ones hooked up to it because i hate rolling the vacuum around. so i just slide the hose under the car to the other side when I vacuum lol. Wish they just made a long 20 ft orange one but no problem it works and havent seen a loss in suction. good to know there is another like this

  • @armandoarroyo
    @armandoarroyo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Thanks for the video, you did well because I have the same vacuum but I did purchase the smaller 1 1/4 detailing kit and I guess that because of the smaller hose size it makes a high pitch sound like a freaking whistle sound using the car detailing kit.

  • @0nemoa
    @0nemoa 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The hose is actually the same hose as the car adapter kit. They are both 1 7/8” it’s just the car kit comes with that hose and the brushes and claw, better value. You can buy the 1 7/8 adapter to 2 1/2” so it’ll work with those accessories.
    Also you needed to screw that adapter on. It’s not press fit. So you actually get more with the car kit you get the 1 7/8” hose plus all the brushes. And again to be clear it is not friction fit. It screws on.

  • @0nemoa

    RIDGID, why don’t you make a 2 1/2 inch premium 10 foot hose, just like 1 7/8” You know they would fly off the shelf so fast because that is what everybody wants, anyone that owns one of the higher end RIDGID vacuum like one of the better models with the higher CFM you know they would have to have that hose because it would be so amazing. A 2 1/2 inch premium hose. Holy shit sign me up please. I’ll pay $200 if you would sell me one right now because I need that shit. Every time I use the 1 7/8” hose I am taking a huge hit to my CFM and for all of the owners of the higher end vacs that really sucks because we pay extra and haul a bigger vac to have that extra power. And than you don’t allow us to use it. I mean there are just some jobs that I can’t use the 7’ stiff plastic hose on. It’s just not efficient. But then I am losing a large amount CFM and not gaining anything at all except mobility and ease of access. If you would just allow us to purchase a 10’ 2 1/2” premium hose we could have the power and the mobility. And that’s basically what you would think we would have gotten when we bought your first “premium hose” only to find out it’s not big enough for the vac to take advantage of so we lose suction power and gain nothing in return.

      I have the WD1636, 5.0hp, 16 gal and I ran into the same problem. None of these adapters fit anything. I used a 2” to 1 & 1/2 rubber pipe reducer with clamps to secure it together. Kind of sucks to have to do this when they could just make one or two attachments that would solve these problems.

    Thank you, I have the save shop vac. I hate the hard plastic OEM hose! Does this hose bend around better? Does it feel a bit softer? Like I mean the black plastic hose, literally rough scuffs my skin when I accidentally drag it across, got some striated scabs because of the hose. Also, my black hose has a kind of built it curve, and curves upward. When using like the crevice tool, I have to add a bit of force to bend the hose downward. Thank you, greatly appreciate your video!

I have actually purchased it since and can confirm this does work. The Rigid vac is quite loud and I'm wondering if it will still make sense in the long run to get a quieter Festool dust extractor. But, for now I'm working well with this setup.

    Thanks for the video..... I´'m jumping on the Ridgid train and I've already decided a few months ago to get the model you have there with the casters.
    But thanks to you I found that that there is another diameter hose.
    But a question to all in regards to the 1-1/4 vs 1-7/8, and it's around the 1:08 mark.
    Brian talks about not wanting to reduce suction, but from what I've been reading, it SEEMS that due to the smaller diameter of the 1-1/4 hose, theoretically it should have more suction power than the 1-7/8. Aside from this, the 1-7/8 should be able to grab bigger debris.
    Would like to know the community and Brian's thought on this.
