      @AdamMichalMarkowski 9 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      redDL89 Not according to Tolkien. At some point Tolkien was planning to have Gandalf been aware of Saruman's treachery long before he originally did. There was a scene during a council, when Gandalf was taunting Saruman by smoking, making smoke rings, and then catching those, or rather trying to catch those, just to show he's aware of Saruman's plan, and to demonstrate how futile those were. You can read all about it in "Unfinished tales". Though in the end Gandalf was full of respect for Saruman, which you could've observed during their meeting in Fellowship of the Ring. His expresion here was probably much more about Gandalf doing things on his own, while Saruman was a leader of Istari Order, so the expression we are all looking for here is: "Busted".

But even there she seems much more of an "ordinary" Elf ruler and much more an active participant in the everyday affairs of Middle Earth. By the end of the Third Age she had become this powerful, remote legend that few people had ever even seen with their own eyes.

      Hard to believe 5000 years is enough time to change an individual in a way that gives them grace and benevolence?
      Imagine how much a person can change in just 100, in just a couple of decades a person can go from a kind individual to an angry bigot or from someone with anger issues to an individual with a lot of patience.
      To assume she didn't learn anything or change over the course of 500 human lifetimes is kind of improbable.
      Besides, RoP isn't a one to one adaptation thats expecting us to put it in the same cinematic universe as the movies, it's a new interpretation of the character.
      I enjoy both for what they are.
      In the Jacksonverse we get the side to them that others in the universe might see them as in this time period, reclusive and ancient beings from another world whom possess eons of knowledge and wisdom to bestow upon mortals like benevolent spirits.
      In RoP we see what they were like in a time of conflict and empire. Harsher, more commonly seen and encountered, a history mingled with the other races rather than separate from. A race that hasn't yet been mythologised and spiritualised like what we see in the Jackson films. A race of people, not spirits fading from the world.

      So was Gimli big time, he went from a poetically spoken warrior to comic relief.
      The entmoot worked in the books but failed in the movies.

      Trying to turn a 304 page book in to a 8.5 hour trilogy (not including the extended editions) is a feat all of and unto itself. Too much CGI, a love story that wasn't needed (Tauriel and Killi) and the Arkenstone basically becoming the One Ring to tempt Thorin and cause 'Dragon sickness' which it only did this in the films. With The Hobbit trilogy being nowhere the story, characters and on some levels, practical effects, the film did deliver on hair and make up, costumes, weaponry, some set pieces and some CGI. With only six months time in pre production (Jackson got 3 years for the OG trilogy) and the films being shot simultaneously, it's a miracle Jackson and his teams even pulled any of this off.
      Screenwriting and directing were also rushed and many elements that heavily deviates from the book were previously added by Del Toro (such as Azog the Defiler* or Tauriel) who was initially hired to direct. He later was fired by WB because his vision for the trilogy was thought to be too chaotic and far from the original tone of Jackson's LoTR trilogy. I will say, the latest 4k versions of The Hobbit Trilogy (LoTR, as well) made massive improvements on the coloring of the film and the CGI.
