Paul Page. I don't think any IndyCar announcer was as well prepared as he. His knowledge and insight were second to none....
He’s good but I think bob varsha was better. Page did make more mistakes.
I was lucky enough to hear Paul Page interview Sam Hornish Jr in a bar in a small town. Bought Jr a Dr Pepper as he didn't drink then
A very pleasant guy, who did not ratchet-jaw.
Glorious era of CART. High horsepower, gorgeous and operatic cars, Paul Page commentating and brutal action.
The sound of these cars are absolutely amazing
What engines
@@martini668 V8 Turbo
@@snakedoctor313 thanks
Montoya the master of cold tires getting by Andretti twice in the same spot. Such a delight it was to see him driving in that era...simply brilliant!
That twitch before he retired tho, I'd have filled my pants before hitting the wall if that was me haha no idea how he caught that so quickly!
However not quite the master of transmissions.
@@EdwinWhite-wz7kn Elkhart is known for blowing transmissions more than other tracks, and that day I remember he managed to keep Fittipaldi at bay with 3 gears broken already. So I wouldn't say it's entirely his fault.
I’m surprised that 1996 didn’t make this reel. That race, especially the last lap, was absolutely bonkers.
God, how I miss those CART days
I'm getting there Thursday to camp all weekend. My first time doing that is in my favorite place on earth. I can't wait.
Wow! That was an awesome history lesson from Road America! I hope to visit there someday and go to a race. I thoroughly enjoyed that action packed montage and thanks for putting it together. Great idea! Do this for more upcoming races that have Indycar and CART history.
Great to hear Paul Page’s voice again
Legge's crash was just horrifying.
Yeap! It looks like she was cut in half. Horrible. Those cars, these safety devices, but still.... Peace Out!
@@LerockJohn Everything behind the driver's seat is bolted in place: the fuel cell, engine, transmission and rear suspension, are all held in place by bolts that will shear off in a hard enough impact. The carbon fiber tub that protects the driver is what was left, and what protected Katherine.
I miss those CART days so much. It's when I fell in love with the sport. Best sounding engines, amazing race cars with an incredible driver lineup.
Imagine the Indy 500 back in the late 90's with those cars and drivers.
They didn’t unfortunately
Ahhh, where is 1996? An all time classic especially with the ending.
I miss those cars
I was at that 99 race. It'd be nice to hear the cars that way again!!
Paul Page and Jon Beekhuis Were such a great pair of broadcasters. I wish they were still doing races.
I see a 20 year old called Scott Dixon in that 2001 race. Whatever happened to him?
Turned into a complete butthead, lol
Monty with a dodgy gearbox and keeping it on the island. Brilliant. Franchitti's first win was excellent. We used to get Champ Car on Eurosport in England.
The sounds from 1999 CART were majestic
Great editing! Thank you. Earlier cars certainly look much more like F1 cars.
Mikey's hands in 99 and 2000 were fantastic, as Paul mentioned. 99 was equally as great, sliding on both restarts
This was such an awesome video, would love to see more of these for the rest of the year!
Fun to know that if you did SCCA, Formula Fords, or even took a Skip Barber one day course you drove the same track as the Indy cars.
More of this please!!
this track has history all over, heck my day back when it was still open for go karts on the big track ran shifters there, we still go an race on the other track once in a blue more or visit but the good news is its pretty close
This was such a great(and deadly if you got it wrong😂) circuit before they added the idiot friendly run off areas. Always felt like an American Monza for a good old hero corner overtake.
God I miss those cars 🙏🏁
18:55 hey, I hear ESPN Speedworld Coverage theme music.
Lembro bem dessa corrida, a cart era a melhor categoria nessa época, os carros eram lindos
I watched Nigel Mansell race at RA back in 1993. I believe he finished second to Paul Tracy. Amazing track, and a glorious time for open wheel racing.
I know IndyCar has been coming to Exhibition Place since the 80s, but it sure would be awesome to have this experience at Mosport if the track could be improved safety wise. Road America is always one of my favorite races of the year, such an awesome track. I miss those Cosworth V8 turbos.
The older generation cars were much better, faster, louder. Whenever the redesign the car they should model them after this era
14:40 Bryan Herta was a lucky man that day...
Finally, a real and classic road course we’re going to this weekend.
Hopefully it’s a good weekend and get some good publicity for once from this terrible season.
Terrible season?
Indy was great idk what you're talking about.
@@obscurereference6298 where did I say the Indy 500 was bad?
@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT "get some good publicity for once from this terrible season."
@@obscurereference6298 Barber had a good race, Indy 500 was good and Larson being in the 500 was good
Other than that, it’s been a bad season with endless amount of bad news and bad stuff
14:22 That guy is short wow.
Kath Legge was going so well in that race, I remember abit about that crash, but man, i completely forgot her car just DISINTEGRATED in that crash all because of that one piece just flying off in that turn.
Also in 2016, jeez, the design of the Indycars back than was aaaaaaaaawful...IMO
I wish the new cars looked and sounded like this old beasts.
The current/ancient cars and engines are almost tolerable until you look back on this.
será un carreron el del domingo 🗿🚬
Back when indycar was awesome
They’re good today as well
P2P should be REMOVED now
Followed both eras and still love both...
I didn't realise the new cars are so much slower than the old 2.6 V8's
Depends on the track. Look up the Racer Magazine channel and Colton Herta driving his Dad's Reynard before the Indy race at Laguna Seca. The newer Dallaras are heavier with less horsepower, but have more downforce so they can take the turns at higher speeds than the old Champ Cars. Around a track like Road America, the Dallaras would get smoked, but at Laguna it's much closer. I also wouldn't be surprised if the current cars are less expensive to run even factoring inflation into the totals.
Everything about this place just bleeds old school motorsport cool. Us Europeans have a reputation for being a bit snobby about American motor racing, but Road America puts most European tracks to shame. Roll on Sunday!
2013...??
There will never be a classic race in Detroit
became an indy/champar in the 20's 01 love the look of the cars and all the names love it!!!!
oh forgot thr FEDEX CART, so many names to remember o the series , name not important, great racing
yuh
And the sponsors were great back then today it's wack
I miss Paul Page
Before the "IRL" "Champcar" disaster.
Nope, this was right in the middle.
Have you Seen this nose to tail stuff. Im like, yeah thats cool. Avarage f1 fan is like - BOOORING
your comentator knows to appreciate different styles of racing, indycar w
How you skip little al dying in turn 12 and Michael taking the win …instead your spend 10 minutes on one race showing unnecessary clips …
Vamos Canapino 😎🇦🇷👍
Yep all racecars today sucks
Those aerokit cars were so ugly!
Beautiful classic race cars
FAST CARS
TOBACCO MONEY
PAUL PAGE.
CART FOREVER.
