Is Mabinogi worth it? Especially with the upcoming shift to move all of Mabinogi to Unreal Engine?

I'll never forget the first time I found this game in 2009. Would come home from the 9th grade to just run around aimlessly with a wizard hat and tricolor robes I found on the ground somewhere. This game was the first time I ever joined a guild on any MMO too. I can't wait for this engine update.

I agree! None of it feels out of place.
It has been so long since I played Mabinogi, and I didn't expect it to be that old.
Maybe I will return to it.

One feature I hope they'll add to the game; its very hard to find teams to dungeon. And when you do they get put off by the slightest hint of weakness. FF14 online had a feature where you were auto sorted and auto organized into a dungeon team. That worked well to make it so people weren't left behind -> which kills the new player population group. So I hope they add something like this. This would encourage people to be able to group more.

Also wondered how are people moving so fast? When I sometimes group on shadow missions in Tail, some people are really speeding really fast. And you can't keep up with them. This makes it hard to team up or keep up. And people don't like slow group members. Any thoughts on how people are getting + movement speed WAY up? (more than 10% increase by far...)
with the Unreal Engine Update they need to add the drop rate % if they want the trust of a large chunk of their player base back because atm im selling off all my gear and items since i'm planning on not playing it again i love the community and the base game play and mechanics but when u really want a item and u run a dungeon for it 100s of times a week for a year and don't get it is bull crap then it becomes literally find a way to farm gold and just buy it from some one is the only reliable way to get it.....

Like any old game their is some growing pains (some not so hot updates) but they really do listen to the community and care and honestly it's a big part of why I stan the game so much 😂
@@The_RealH3R0So I love PS2/3 era graphics for some reason and I had never picked up Madinogi because of the Mixed reviews on steam. If you had to sell me on the game in it's current state outside of the developer relationship with the community, what would it be? To clarify, I have put a ton of hours into FF14 so I enjoy solo-ish MMOs, I say this because I saw some of the comments as to why people are reviewing negatively being that the game is becoming more singular focused (which I prefer but I also don't mind interacting with people)
So yeah, what do you enjoy a lot about the game in it's current state? Graphics don't really worry me as I find them really charming. I played P4G last year for the first time and it shot to being in my top 5 favorite games of all time, I enjoy style over realism so I find the current graphics to be intriguing. :D
Okay, so this will probably be a lot and hard to convey through a comment but if you played FF14, You'll find a lot of familiarity here and a lot of differences here.
It's true this game is more focused on solo play and I find that overall to be a positive. Realistically 90% of this game can be done solo (up until endgame but that will take you years) or you can call upon friends to help you with things as well. For example, when it comes to ranking up life skills - if your in a party you get a little buff to success rates. However, you can also unlock a bard skill that also gives you a better buff then the party buff so you can really choose to solo or stack buffs.
The real big thing that initially drew me to this game was its mix of combat and life skills. They really try to give you many avenues to explore that fantasy life. For example: I found crafting gear or doing life skills in ff14 didn't feel very rewarding but doing them in Mabinogi felt like I accomplished something and I can't quite pinpoint the reason, but it feels good.
The story is separated into different storylines and is very long because of this, think of it as arcs in an anime. I'm absolutely in love with the first and latter end of story arcs. The characters are so compelling and the impact that your created character has on the outcome and the world actually feels good. You go from being a nobody to THAT guy. Doing the story line unlocks some honestly cool transformations that you can use anytime in the game ( it gives you buffs) but typically has a long cool down so it's balanced. To me personally the story is better then FF14's in some regards. ( Sorry for all the comparisons but I played the crap out of FF14 )
Early game the combat will start feeling like rock paper scissors but as you unlock more skills you'll be able to break that mold and just go nuts. This game allows you to use skills at anytime and any point, you aren't locked to a single class. The only thing "class selection" does for this game is give a 2x skill training buff to your associated skills.
Music is another big thing in this game, there are a ton of instruments and you can even write your own music or search the bard board for popular songs. I've seen people make Final Fantasy music, zelda music and some anime opening songs.
Honestly there is just so much I could talk about and praise but the game only starts to feel like a chore near end game and it'll take years to get there. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Ohh it looks great! The graphics are so pretty but it doesn't feel like a completely new artstyle without the charm of the classic! I've always wanted to try this game out but whenever I look at a community this old I'm never sure where to start.
Also,this game has some sort of generational/reincarnation system right? That sounds really cool but if I want to keep playing as the same character, can I?
Yes, you rebirth in order to start over your "current level," making it easier to earn ability points, as well as to change your "active talent" for a skill training bonus and increased stats for the pertaining skillset. You can stay the same, or change your height (age), or alter your appearance (even gender) altogether, but you'll stay the same race iirc.

Them changing the game with this new unreal engine stuff, what will that do to the system requirements to play this? Many players of this game are using older computers....
So this is a concern many of us have if the new engine update will put us out of the game.
Where everything looks cell shaded I can't imagine where it would be anything that exceeds current day mid computers. The reason why a lot of people started playing Mabi back in the day was because how it only required low specs on a pc.
@@The_RealH3R0 Thanks for the reply. I use a lot of budget computers.... stuff sold for under 200 dollars. These often have the on board graphics of HD 3000 or HD 4000. So I'm hoping that will work.

Man i feel old iam 40yo with a 5yo daughter and I've been on there when G2 came out and when I've seen that pally and his dog iam like.........yes a GOD i shall be lol i will ve back when the update is there but not as much like i used to long time ago.
Love hearing stories like this! Tons of older people are playing this game still! Most people I bump into are in the 20-40 range!

Please be brutally honest.. Never played this game before, is it worth investing some time in it?
I think it definitely is! Early - Mid game is super fun and it'll take you years to reach endgame. (Endgame is where it struggles right now but they're working on improving it.)

@@The_RealH3R0 That's great its been awhile. Mabi is the only mmo i spent a long time in, and I only scratched the surface before lol. May get back into it once the update comes out.
