Great video. Fished with Brian after EKFT this year. Got skunked and sun burnt that day, but great guide none the less and we will go back to him again next year.
Heard Brian mention skipjack...I ate some that was caught that same day...and it was probably in the top 3 tuna meals I've ever had. JonJon Tabon caught it on an earlier charter, I fished with him later and caught a nice GT. Going off the advice of the locals, I cut out the darkest bloodlines and pan fried the rest of the meat in vegetable oil, lightly floured. It was incredible, cooked it for maybe 2 mins per side, medium rare I would say (deep red in the middle), with soy sauce for dipping of course.
Dude, I love all your videos man. You are inspiring me to save up for a pedal kayak and I’m so close. You make fishing look like work of arts with these shots you take with your GoPro. Hope one day I can run into you and fish once when I finally get my own pedal kayak. Thank you for the fun ad keep doing what you’re amazing at.
Joe Brown Do you know what the rules are on bluefin tuna in mass? I have a mass recreational salt water permit but i don't think i'm allowed to fish those with that. I thought you needed a commercial license for them.
вяιαи you do need a special liscense to catch tuna from sure as I’m not a tuna fisherman I don’t know the ins and outs of it I’m just a surf angler that goes up there for stripers but have been spooked a couple times by those 100+ pound tuna that occasionally crash the beach while chasing bluefish.
I fish in Maine. Yesterday I snagged a bunker out of a giant school while fishing for mackerel off the rocks and a huge bluefin came up and smacked it less than 6 feet from the rocks(30 feet of water ). Scared the shit out of me , thought it was a shark until it came to the surface. The fish was longer than I am tall. Needless to say it took off with my 20 lb leader and the spoon I was fishing with
200 ft right off the shore...must be nice. Off topic but you got me into kayak fishing - went out for my first trip last friday - thanks for these great vids~
Good action and informational video per usual from you. It appears you paddled out about a mile or mile and half is all. Not bad but the Gulf Stream is right there. Further up at NC above Hatteras, if memory serves, it's too far to kayak out to. Just a west Coast fisherman raised on the east Coast wishing I could fish like that. The Big Blue out here is a lot tougher to fish and more dangerous by far.
Def bad move rinsing, than right in the zip lock without even patting dry. That florida water is all heavily chlorinated as well. Blackfin is the leanest of all tuna, awesome when fresh, doesnt store well like yellowfin or bluefin though...
EliasVFishing In the Keys, the party boat mates rinse beautiful snapper and grouper fillets in that heavily treated water that gets piped from the mainland,i mean they really soak it and then throw it in bags soaking wet. You can see it turn white in front ofyour eyes within minutes....
Just a FYI. Slow pitch rods are not meant to be used to fight the fish. Just to work the jig. When you get a fish on you’re supposed point the rod at the fish and fight the fish with the reel which is against traditional technique.
I have noticed you and a few other TH-camrs prefer not using a baitrunner. i.e. leave the drag loose then tighten it when the fish hits. Is there a reason you don't use a baitrunner when fishing this way?
Kevin D it’s just not necessary to use a baitrunner reel. I’m assuming for him it’s just personal preference. The only time I’d use a baitrunner is if my rod was in rod holder on the surf or a dock. Otherwise I’d either prefer to leave the bail open or drag loose.
You're risking losing the fish by taking time to tighten the drag as opposed to one crank and the baitrunner sets the hook. You better hope you get the drag set correctly as well, the main drag is already set on the baitrunner.
Really, with no tension on the line...I don't think so. Circle hooks set themselves with the drag set. The guide even says in the video, tighten the drag when the fish hits then set the hook. I just want to know why these guys don't use a reel with a baitrunner feature. Also, that first Albie was hooked with a circle.
Kevin D yeah... I think so. for tuna I leave the bail open and wait until I see line peeling off, then close the bail. Or, I keep the bail closed with the drag loose, and tighten it up after the strike. I have two videos I just posted tuna fishing in Mexico on my fishing TH-cam channel “Reel Greedy Fishing” at hotel Buenavista in mexico with this technique. Caught a 60+ and 70+ lb tuna on a spinning set up with no baitrunner.
*Aren't you worried a big great white will pop up outta the water going after that tasty fish while on that little kayak? I'm sure it has crossed your mind at least lol. You are much braver than i.*
I had a driver from wawa come up to new Hampshire and I had to go into one when I hit Florida because he wouldn't shut up about how great they were lol
Hurricane sized swells lol... don't fish off the cali coast that looked like a beautiful day haha. Good stuff though man I'd be stoked on those albies as well.
Elias is the best in the East but Don's the best in the West, Whatsup baby boy! loll Nice Sashimi plate bro that was beautifully done... Snag ya later..
I loved the tidbit about the pocket the fin tucks into. That was interesting.

Thanks dude, I work hard at it when the fishies are snipping!
Dang dude, tuna off the beach. Need to get there for this
Sushi Everyday cape cod has that too, we had a few times fishing there in a bluefish blitz and have big bluefin tuna come crash the party on us
Nice, sushi on the boat

More catch and cook vids! Awesome videos mang!
Keep on Trucking! Love the travel videos (and the music). Thanks
TBH I don't really care for the dude you worked with this time. He kinda seems a bit half assed with things.
Nice catches guys...
200 ft right off the shore...must be nice. Off topic but you got me into kayak fishing - went out for my first trip last friday - thanks for these great vids~
Nice video! Thanks for the free samples man, just got an order of your shads in. Can't wait to put them to use.

It was consumed 2 hours later, but yeah the flesh reacts with freshwater no doubt about it. I’m sure the next day it’d be mush.

Fish should never be rinsed.
Edward Dergosits how do you clean them then?
Turtlemilk - bleed em right away when you catch em, keep everything clean when you cut em, no need to rinse
Blackfin Tuna Sashimi is heaven....a little soy sauce and wasabi....nothing beats it (Slightly blackened on one side is good too)
Awesome trip 🤙🤙
Excellent stuff Elias!!
What kind of rod and reel you jigging with?
Skinner nation.. haha! Loved it. Thanks
Elias; have you done a skate or ray catch and cook?
Finally someone that calls bonita bobos like me
Awesome delicious stuff!
Look how blue the water is!!
Damn you are hardcore 10 hour drive then straight on into the sea!
Def hallucinating by end of it all
dang I need those albies
What type of kayak is that?
Huge Albies dude nice
Good stuff the sushi looked great 👍👍

Great videos bro! I enjoy watching man!!! If I may ask, what video editing software do you use?
I have noticed you and a few other TH-camrs prefer not using a baitrunner. i.e. leave the drag loose then tighten it when the fish hits. Is there a reason you don't use a baitrunner when fishing this way?

Kevin D circle hooks set themselves. I’ve never lost a fish by having to take the 2-3 seconds to tighten the drag or 1 second to close the bail

ill say it again but Tsunami rods for the money are amazing. I’ve had a few Tsunamis last for years now and they still operate perfectly
I guess it’s time to pick up one of these Tsunamis!!
*Aren't you worried a big great white will pop up outta the water going after that tasty fish while on that little kayak? I'm sure it has crossed your mind at least lol. You are much braver than i.*
nice rods men, 50 pounds line?
this guy is the bets fishing kayak
Big no no is right. Soon as he sprayed the fish you could see it start to cook and change color.
Kyle Bryer yea what was up with that?
Rusty Shakleford I can my filets of in a bowl of ice cubes and water.

amzn.to/2mzhnth

totally great vid,man
What state are you in??
Why was the fish at 3:13 bleeding? Sorry if I'm missing something!
Shark or cuda
Coda probably got ahold of him
Man I don't know if you filleted them right or wrong all I know is you got the job done and that looks great!
Thanks for sharing 👍
So jealous, I LOVE sashimi
Where was I cast this year.
I was supposed to go tuna fishing in Jersey yesterday, but that didn’t happen, 30+ mph winds out of the east and 5-9 foot seas
Good stuff man
But tell the truth man... Being from NYC, the best part of doing a road trip is the Wawa! I effin' love that place!
I had a driver from wawa come up to new Hampshire and I had to go into one when I hit Florida because he wouldn't shut up about how great they were lol
Was it good
Nice! Looked good
That's one fish I would love to catch here is Tuna. If it keeps getting warmer like it is it may happen one day
Nice videos man
I would like to see you do a catch and cook with dmfd aka deer meat for dinner 👍👍👍
Gotta make a stop at South of the Border on your way back!
Oh you know I did
I was 57 thousandth subscriber!!
Nice video again Elias
Are you just using a straight retrieve on the vertical jig? Never seen that but hey it worked 🤙🏾. That blackfin looked delicious
Nah I was pumping it also or trying to rather
EliasVFishing I gotcha that vertical jigging will where you out for sure keep up the good videos
EliasVFishing Hey Elias!! Love the Jazz you incorporated into the production. Nice touch!!!
South of the border i pass there alot
Love your vids. You & LandShark my favorite channels. Now.., kayak or waverunner???
Black fin tuna is very good smoked
Hey, next time save the collar. Between the gill plate & the pec. fin. Grill it with you fav sauce. There is alot of meat there.
Sweet costa Del Mar’s.
16:06 guest appearance from good boi. give him tuna nugget pls
The judgement of the filet job is directly proportional to the distance and fuel cost...........I give him a B+ :) lol
Lol Elias he could've filleted it perfect and someone still would've said it was wrong lol.
Just move back to ny and move to eastern li and hit these flats
I will have the rice, you guys can have all the raw fish you want ! Might I have more, no please !!!
Hurricane sized swells lol... don't fish off the cali coast that looked like a beautiful day haha.
Good stuff though man I'd be stoked on those albies as well.
Yep I’d get crushed. For someone that fishes the ocean with the yak once a week, I dump on the Hobie 50/50. Too slow.
$2.7 a gallon? thats ridiculously cheap for petrol. in australia we pay like $1.60~70 a litre. in New zealand its like $2 a litre
Good catch but 😢 on the prepping vary sad.....
Why does he put them back? I've never actually been fishing, but I love watching these videos.
watching this video in 2022 and seeing those gas prices lol man I miss those
Dam right I'm jealous
9:45
Unique voice unique fisherman
The collar meat is excellent ..... he threw it out
SOCIAL MEDIA PEOPLE LMAO😂 Congrats on those pb albacore!
Next time your buddy should make sure to bring a full bucket of saltwater back. NEVER RINSE ANY SALTWATER FISH WITH FRESH WATER. always use saltwater.
Elias is the best in the East but Don's the best in the West, Whatsup baby boy! loll Nice Sashimi plate bro that was beautifully done... Snag ya later..
Why Bonita is a trash fish ????
I love your videos, Elias. But can I just say you look shockingly similar to Chris D'elia. A much better fisherman version though lol.
At Least he knows he sucks filleting....lmao
First comment
That was not smart going 100 miles outshore with kyack
I could care less how much meat he wastes on he filet, but holy hell rinsing it in freshwater before storing. That's a brutal no no
A whole Blackfin tuna killed for one sushi roll. Smh
You don't have to treat them like shit just because there's plenty of them. Guide my ass.
First like
U guys are great fishermen but guys just wasted the whole fish
What's the deal on the raw fish?? Saute in butter and garlic and a little basil man that's good. Homemade bread. Salad= good meal.
Whatever? WTF?
