Speaking of supplements - do you take B12? I heard from this long termp plant based doc that he never supplemented and never had any issues - nor his blood tests showed any issues. Studying "the holy fathers" (hermits) I see they had no health issues without supplements (quite the contrary, fasting and eating plant based is healing it seems) - I've never witnessed issues personally.
@Trinmigular shrobatorli I would definitely try becoming vegan. It has positively changed my life in so many ways and I'm beyond happy that I made that decision. :)
@Trinmigular shrobatorli no, just cut down meat. If you're not able to do that, consume meat once in 2-3 months. If doing so, you'll really help both, your guts and environment 🤗😃
I did the 30 day vegan challenge 4.5 years ago and I will never go back to eating meat and dairy again. I used many of the arguments that you hear, it’s too difficult, too extreme, too expensive. Blah, it’s not really hard. There are so many options and resources available to people. If you are curious about going vegan I recommend watching 3 documentaries; ‘What the Health’ , ‘How Not to Die’ , and ‘Earthlings’
I agree with you in saying that it feels like a new normal.I gave up meat around 8 years ago and I don't miss it at all.I realised it was about the flavours used in the meat preparations rather than the meat itself.
likhi p I was vegetarian (and vegan for several months) for a year and a half and recently stopped and started eating meat again. It has helped my digestion and bloating ☺️ but I would go vegan or vegetarian again.

@@tamcon72 I'm not a new account, and this isn't vegan YT. As hard as it is to believe, that means you might come across honest accounts supporting both sides, rather than just confirmation bias from vegans, and hate from anonymous meat eaters, like you would on vegan YT. I was also meticulous about my diet, at 20%,60%,20% (having tried a few other ratios). Main carb sources were whole grains, sweet potatoes and legumes, I usually avoided nightshades and supplemented hemp protein. 2500kcal a day. I felt "clean" if not entirely 100% during the first 6mo to a year, then steadily felt more anemic. After that I supplemented some B12 (inb4 "you were never vegan), and it helped. But after well over a year, I decided it wasn't worth it and went pescatarian. Now I don't restrict any types of meat, though I only eat grass fed red meat. And I finally feel like my whole self again!
You can (and should) also appreciate the animal from which the meat came. Or, show a deeper appreciation of the animals by not paying for them to die for meat, that's where veganism comes in
@@kissarmin7130 That's what I was thinking. You need to make adjustments to make sure that your diet is sustainable and ethical. The best thing one can do is to adopt a vegan diet.
I went vegan for 4 year (and counting) here is what happened: Lost 35 pounds... I ran a marathon and 3 ironman triathlons... unlocked my brain from whatever cloud it was in. Met a network of people who care for themselves and our planet. Slightly more alienated at families parties but I was good at that before veganism as well.
@Ello someone like that who is allergic to pretty much everything is a huge exception u do realize that right? Most people aren't allergic to everything.
people dont ever get better. Because if they did they wouldnt be stuck to a restrictive diet. people can still go back to eating meat and be fine. If you get violently ill eating some salad you are not well and need to seek professional medical help to discern what is happening in their gastrointestinal system and immune system.@Ello
You need some cholesterol in your diet, long term vegans start experiencing plenty of health issues due to not consuming enough cholesterol as well as many other nutrients
Social Stoic vegans do get enough cholesterol because we make our own cholesterol already. LDL (a form of cholesterol) is present in all dairy and animal products which clogs your arteries.
I love being vegan. I love identifying with veganism because it's not a diet. It's a huge perspective change that leads to a more compassionate life. Thank you for giving it an honest shot and for allowing it to shift the way you live a bit!
Yep me too! I love being vegan. It has only been a year for me, my SO, my sibling but we feel amazing! Vegan for life for the animals, my health, the planet, other humans! It has taught me to be more compassionate and empathetic towards all living beings ... yes all including the ones who swear at us for being vegan. Oh boy. :)
CHAMP18d:: Could you possibly be able to like,, text on here for a beginner what kind of meals to possibly eat for lunch or dinner!!? I'm soooo.interested!!! But have NO idea what I'm doing!! What to buy for just a meal or two, I'll switch those around till I get an idea of really know what is going on!!! Noone will help me!!!:(:(
Tasha Gross idk if you’re picky or not but if you like veggies you can always make a loaded veggie salad with Italian dressing! There are quite a few other vegan dressings too just make sure you always check the ingredients! :) also a lot of pasta is vegan but there are also chickpea based pastas, lentil based, etc. Plus marinara is usually always vegan too! Burrito bowls are a go to, brown rice, black or pinto beans, lettuce/cilantro, tomato, corn, salsa, lime, you can pretty much add whatever and get creative! Beans are packed with protein and it’s pretty inexpensive to make as well :) one more really good one is homemade tomato soup, if you have a blender you can just get some canned or fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, cook them in the oven or on the stove and throw it all in a blender then back on the stove again, served with salad or grilled cheese is my favorite but vegan alternatives tend to be pretty expensive so just be careful! I hope this helps! :) sorry if it’s super long haha
I went plant-based 6 months ago. I am Italian, German and Irish. I loved meat and potatoes, just as much as meatballs, braciole, sausage and peppers, etc. I didn't do it for weight loss but I did subsequently lose quite a bit, I am sleeping better, my skin is better, my focus and/or cognitive functioning is way better. I cannot think of one negative aspect of this experience for me. There is no food worth how incredibly good I feel and since I can still have potatoes, pasta and bread, it is a win-win!
Thanks for shedding a positive light on veganism :) I love being vegan and could never imagine going back, but I think the important thing is that people are aware of what they are consuming and the impact of it on others and the planet. So any reduction in animal product can help a ton!
@@user-lz7oy7st3p depends on what cause you want to achieve. If it's about the environment, then supporting agraculture and pesticide usage is doing more harm then the co2 production of animals. But if you want do it for ethical reason(no killing) then sure vegan would be good. The thing vegans usually go from one harm to another. There are only two ways to solve this problem 1. self sustain yourself with a permagarden(and also chickens if you want to eat eggs.) 2. buy groceries from good sources that use no pesticides. But if it comes from monoculture that will be nearly impossible. So choice 1 would be the only real way to help the environment. But the thing is it's totally unrealistic for most of the population to do that.
I cured 10 years of Crohn's disease so sick I was on biologics and precancerous meds. I went vegan and with 6 months I was off all meds and kidney damage caused by meds healed also.
That's crazy yo. I've had Crohn's since I was a 3 year old child and I've had my highs and lows, and although since going vegan I haven't really had a single flare up I have some bouts of being unwell. Of course, when unwell I go low fiber and recover best I could like I did before going vegan but it hasn't worked for me that well. Some of my trigger foods were eliminated so it helped but, just like any other patient. So happy for you though!
@Anonymous wow do you have any specifications? I feel like I’ve been getting more pimples since I went vegan. And about the weight, I actually lost a lot and I have to gain around 13 kilograms, but that’s not on veganism, since going vegan I just dropped 2 kilograms
@Anonymous dairy is really fattening i felt i gained so much weight with dairy, i cut it out i do have plant based daiya cheese but i don't eat it everyday
@Anonymous thanks, I did thought of getting pimples as a part of a “cleansing process” but I’ve also heard that vitamin B12 can make you get pimples. But I’ve been feeling better than before, I’m young but due to flexibility I have knee problems, and my knees hurt less now that I’m vegan. And it’s been so so long since I last ate something processed because I avoid buying anything that comes in plastic or metal
@Anonymous greek yoghurt is the only thing that stops me from being vegan i have it in my oatmeal and smoothies everyday. what are good plant based sources of protein?
Vegan here - I came for the health and stayed for the animals. I've come to realize that there's no humane way to kill something that wants to live. They are aware of what's happening to them and their deaths aren't quick. I hope you do eat more plant based foods for yourself, and the environment as a whole! Good luck!
It's funny because I feel the same way about the trillions upon trillions of insects annihilated every yr through farming. Anyone who says cows and pigs are special but bugs and other animal life dont count are nothing but a bunch of animal racists. All life is precious. And it's all part of one ecosystem. No species is better or "higher" than any other. Even plants are living things. I also dont buy the argument that it's ok to kill something as long as it can't feel pain or not intelligent enough to process what's going on. Does that mean that it's ok to kill someone in a coma because they can't feel it? It is alright to kill the mentally retarded because they dont understand? The only real answer is that we are extinguishing another life form, plain and simple. Having tried veganism twice myself, I came to the conclusion that in order to sustain life, we must take life whether we're eating meat or veg. The unpleasant truth that many ppl are unwilling to acknowledge is that we are evolved to be killers. I've since gone back to eating the way our ancient ancestors did. I believe if the Native Americans could kill stuff for food while still living in balance with nature, then so can we. Countries like France and Spain seem to be able to produce high quality meat without wrecking their environment. It can be done. If it makes you feel any better, 30 yrs from now, most of the meat in the world will be lab grown. Synthetic meat, created from plant matter (like the Impossible Food corporation is making now), is most likely, the future of food. Have a good day
@@menthy That just sounds bad, eating food that is synthetically made. I think the best form of eating meat would be hunting since in order to hunt you have pay certain dues which go back to the environment.
@@cagan8 Yes you may be right. But i doubt we can go back to living like the Native Americans 1,000 yrs ago. Huge investment money is already being spent to development lab grown foods. Meat proteins are being replicated on a molecular level. No more of that clumsy old meat substitute stuff that doesn't even taste like meat. The new lab grown meat may even possibly be healthier than real meat since the materials to create it come from plants like spinach. Time will tell
I’m not sure if you’re thinner but you definitely seem, and this might sound weird, brighter and less puffy. And this was a great, encouraging, inclusive and informative video. Thank you!
I think both industries are flawed whether they make plant or meat products . Animals are treated with antibiotics and are fed enormously and plants are being sprayed with preparations and chemicals . I think we should be all taught in school how to take care and eat both plants and animals and make our own products .
Slav Kafegiev Then most people wouldn’t eat animals, because I’m sure 90% doesn’t have the guts to kill an animal for food. Killing an animal is very different from buying it from a supermarket and it’s a really intense, confronting experience. Watch videos of reporters going to slaughterhouses and you’ll see what it’s like, totally not fun.
@@JustinRM20 I know I've seen how they do it . But that doesn't matter . The thing is we should eat quality food . That way whoever wants to eat meat can do it properly and more morally . Not to mention it's important skill everyone should know . Not everyone to be forced to practice it but to have an idea of how to do it cuz the population should be able to feed itself if has to .
Conejo Recopila Lentil burgers and fake cheese are still better for you than real burgers and real cheese. They didn’t add cholosterol to make them just as unhealthy as non-vegans. Keep denying, in 50 years we’ll see who was healthier all along.
@@marisellopez6022 Great question! Firstly, take it slow when you transition so you get used to the changes you are making. Maybe go vegetarian or pescatarian first before going vegan. And to be honest with you, generally, you only need that motivating push the first couple of months of going vegan. After you push through the initial transitioning period, it becomes second nature. The things that really helped me stay motivated are - 1. Getting excited about trying out vegan recipes. I love cooking so I tried to focus on the food that I get to eat on a vegan diet rather than what I cannot. If you miss the taste of meat, try some good vegan mock meat! There are so many recipes and great tasting vegan alternatives out there nowadays. 2. GET PREPARED FOR SOCIAL DINING. This is the most awkward and demotivating part, people you once ate meat with now dining with the new you, the vegan you. Try doing some research on the menu of the restaurant you will visit to see what vegan options they have and what can be veganized. If it is a house party, bring your own food and make sure it's not a boring salad! BUT it is something you actually really enjoy :) and LASTLY, if it becomes extremely hard for you to stay motivated, rewatch the documentaries, podcasts or youtube videos highlighting Why you should go vegan. Remind yourself of the reasons, the ethical environmental and health-related reasons that got you motivated in the first place. Hope this helps!
luiseick DISCLAIMER!!!!! Meat is also supplemented with b12(large scale farmed meat)!!!! B12 comes from bacteria, so untreated water and unwashed veggies automatically have b12, but that's unpractical. So either u pay someone to feed b12 supplements to livestock then eat it or you take it directly. Theirs two proven strains of bacteria(that I know) in our gut that produces b12 where we can actually absorb it, BUT u have to have great bacterial diversity in your gut; don't take the risk and take supplement. 40% of Americans take supplements any ways,
Nathaniel Drew Dont be an idiot nathaniel, you cant supplement b12. Every cell in your body is made of cholesterol, you need to consume meat. It feels great in the beginning but wont last. Its a diet for sugar addicts, thats your ”mental clarity”. Watch sv3rige videos.
I never thought I could be a vegan. Then one day I realized I could and should. Spiritual awakening. I was 53 at the time. I immediately became more happy and peaceful. That was unexpected. Now being a vegan is a source of pride and gratitude for me. It cheers me up when I feel beaten down. I can know I’m doing something good for other beings and the earth. I hug my dog. I watch all the little creatures outside. I am at peace with them because I am no longer a predator. These are gifts I will never squander. Even if I have to go without food sometimes. I’m not afraid of being hungry. Fasting has become another link in the chain of my awakening. Easier on my body and easier on the earth. Even if it’s hard and even if there’s sacrifice it’s worth doing.
Your vivid eyes, constant smile (even if it's interior smile) and positiveness make me want to do things and pursue a healthier life. Tks, and keep up!

He probably deleted all the negative ones! People turn into absolute idiots as soon as the word vegan is mentioned. I'm just really glad that veganism is starting to become more normalised especially amongst young people.
I'm vegetarian and in India nearly 40% are vegetarian. Even KFC and Mc Donald's have vegetarian dishes in their menu. It's due to 70.8% population is Hindu in India.
Indians actually have a rare ability to process vegetables, as they are 100 generations deep in vegetarian based diet. Nearly everyone else doesn't have this DNA, and veganism can be harmful to certain people. Humans have been consuming meat for 20 million years. Veganism has existed as long as computers. So some of us can eat just meat and be healthy, while others just vegetables and fruit.
@PaleDale Oh no only 2.6 million years. It was just enough time for our brains to get bigger from using our intellect to hunt and fish. If you aren't smart enough to figure out that meat eating is what separates us from the apes, you might be vegan.

We grew up with rice at nearly every meal. However we only used a rice cooker. Not until after college did I realize I could cook rice on a stove. It just seemed so weird.
I know what you mean with the rigid rules. But vegan as a "label" makes it so much easier to make better choices, it takes way less willpower to decide not to eat bacon if you're vegan than if you're just "trying to eat healthier and eat less processed foods". Then you can very easily bend the rules. Good luck with future plant-eating!

Hearing “raw vegan” is almost a trigger for me now. I know you can do raw vegan and still be healthy if you’re careful, but the whole community is bonkers and scary. Most of the raw vegan people promote incredibly unhealthy, unbalanced diets, so usually I just slowly walk away when anyone says that.
Did that for a while. Lost a lot of weight, and for a while was sleeping 3 hours a night. I'd still wake up refreshed and ready to go. While I think it's a good way to go for a while, I would not recommend it as a lifestyle. And yes, a lot of enthusiasts are quite bonkers. Those I followed for a while pretty much all ended up leaving, or selling blenders on TV.
LOTS of plants are harmful without some degree of processing (e.g. oxalate, lectin) because that's how they've survived. Raw veganism is pretty much a cult religion for masochists.
okay now... despite I primarily clicked on this video, because I'm vegan and support anybody who decides to go vegan too, I just want to say that your editing style is soooo aesthetic, like ...😳 damn this was just so good, you are really talented!!
@The V word oh sure the best way not to kill and rape animals is to kill and rape animals right 👍 Living animals eat food. We plant plants, feed them to the animals and eat the animals. In this process a lot of energy is "wasted" due to the upkeep of the animals. It is more environmentally conscious to directly consume the plants directly. And it is not necessary at all to consume animal products. The only, and the only thing is B12 which is supplemented for animals. Animals do not magically produce B12, it is supplemented for them. Therefore vegans just do the same thing when they supplement it, without making and extra step through the animal. Considering the argument of of buying local, it isn't sustainable if you take a look at our current meat consumption in the world. It just isn't the case and most people don't buy from local farms.
Good for you. Your approach is nonjudgmental and so real. So many people shame me for feeding my kids this way but I’m so careful and am constantly educating myself to keep my family healthy. I think every diet you follow should be researched and tracked for optional health. Just my humble opinion. ❤️
I started off being vegetarian when i was 19. started being vegan at age 24 I'm 29 now. at first I thought I would crave cheese my whole life... after about a year, I don't care about it at all. and being vegan nearly 6 years I don't miss any animal based food. I love being on a plant based diet.
If you look in the Bible, see Genesis 1:29 God gave Adam and Eve fruits, nuts, and grains to eat in the Garden of Eden. After they had sinned God included vegetables, see Genesis 3:18. In Heaven we will not eat meat, see Revelation 21:4, no death. It is clear God never intended for mankind to depend on animal flesh to sustain life. Many top athletes have gone vegan because a vegan diet greatly increases athletic performance and strength. Seventh-day Adventists on average live many years longer than average Americans because they shun tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and unclean meats. Vegetables, whole grains, fruits and nuts are naturally low in saturated (!) fat. Hey hey! A few things you might want to keep an eye on from a nutritional standpoint moving forward as a plant based guy (also omnivorous people should look out too): B12 (get from fortified plant milk, fortified nutritional yeast, or suppliments) and omega 3 (flax, hemp, chia, pumpkin, or black seed, walnuts). Hope this low-animal-product plan keeps treating you well.
As a vegan, thank you. For your dedication and shedding a positive light on veganism. It really is a powerful impact on the overall well being of humans, and the environment.
@The V word You're pushing a rant about this making no logical sense at all. If you're so pumped about how vegans kill so many animals with their lifestyle then just go ahead and live a lifestyle that doesn't i.e. eat ground dirt and stones, or starve, with your level of politeness I don't think people are going to care about your rant or your diet. You're worse than religious homophobe propaganda, and more annoying.
Veganism does effect mental health. Can't express that enough. I was raised on a non vegan diet and was always a C student. I recall always feeling lethargic after class and never could improve my grades no matter how hard I studied. Now after three years of veganism, I'm in medical school and have always been top of the class. Received the highest test scores recorded (to the point where my exams aren't released.) My information retention shocks the hell out of me. 👌🏼👍🏼 I never expressed this because I though it might of sounds a bit far fetched but it's the only change I've implemented into my lifestyle. 🌱

I have not eaten meat for a decade and have always been really low on animal products (im swiss and being a teenager on the country side just didnt allowed me to be completely vegan because even salad dressings have dairy in them). At home i follow a complete vegan lifestyle and most of the time also when going out (there has been an increase of vegan options). I think its way better to be vegan most of the times and allow for adjustment, than being vegan for one year, making a mistake and then going back to eating meat everyday again :) Even people who dont want to be vegan or vegetarian can contribute a lot. If you limit your meat consumption to just once a week and invest in better quality meat, you help fight mass production of cheap and mistreated animals and its better for the environment
On a purely statistical level, that would be the best solution for the majority of the people because not everyone will go all or nothing for all kinds of reasons. So yeah people just should give it a shot instead of judging themselves too harshly because they didn't execute perfectly and quit forever.

I agree with that, however with the state that the planet is currently in, we don't have time for people to slowly reduce their consumption of these products, going vegan is the single biggest thing anyone can do to reduce having a negative impact on the environment. Questions such as "Do you think it's normal that adult humans drink another species breast milk?" Or "Can you humanely slaughter someone who doesn't want to die" When I do this in person, it's normally because they started the conversation, not me, however I also do outreach based activism and have gotten many strangers to strongly consider going vegan as well as my closest friends. I've also got my parents to both go vegan and they're so much healthier for it. The reason I do this is because about two years ago I went on a whole foods plant based diet for health reasons and it improved my health so dramatically, I'm now mentally and physically so much better than I used to be and I want other people to know that this can seriously change their lives for the better. The other reason is that before going plant based, I did not care about what happened to animals in farms at all, I wouldn't allow myself to think much about it, but since I stopped consuming dead flesh and the secretions of animals who had been through hell, as well as all the antibiotics, pus, blood, faeces and so on, I began to become way more conscious of the animals and the planet. Consuming these things was holding me back from becoming aware of the truth and I think that's the same with most people. Here in the UK so many people are waking up and going vegan every single day.
Loved how optimistic but also realistic this video was! Thanks for sharing your experience, and hope you're able to positively influence other people with your story :)
I quit meat for 3 months, mental clarity is a REAL thing. I felt lighter and my mind was clearer, sharper. So glad i came across this video. Someone understands!

Hi, I found these two websites helpful: - The first is a link to a Physicians Committee for plant based diets. It has lots professional and medical nutritional information for athletes, pregnant women, normal people, by physicians and dietitians licensed to practice in the U.S. Licensure is important! www.pcrm.org/good-nutrition/plant-based-diets - The second contains a link to Challenge 22 + which is a Facebook group with registered dietitians and mentors who can help you. challenge22.com/ - Uh no I’m not a bot! I just like to be anonymous as vegans get attacked by others who do not eat a plant based diet or animal free lifestyle. Hope these help. Thanks.

Vegan of 6+ years and I enjoyed this video :) Appreciate your honest, unbiased take. I feel if you watched Earthlings you may have a different perspective though. Intrigued to know how your diet has progressed over the last year and a half.
@roses are death Sorry for the late reply, it's great that you're making an effort to try and eat more plant based foods. I went vegan when I was 17 (I'm now 19) and it was difficult to convince my parents at first, but incredibly they've now gone vegan as well and after discovering that I enjoy cooking, I now cook most of the food at home which they love. Myself and both of my parents are now far healthier both physically and mentally, my mum and I also lost loads of excess weight. Unfortunately some parents are more difficult to convince but there's a few things you can do to help convince them to at least let you be vegan. The most important thing is to educate yourself, watch What the health on Netflix to learn about the health side of being vegan. We can get absolutely all the nutrients we need from plant based foods. And in fact animal products can cause serious health problems. Watch Conspiracy on Netflix or TH-cam to learn about how animal agriculture is the number one thing destroying the planet. If you can get your parents to watch these documentaries with you that's even better. And if you can handle seeing some graphic footage, I'd suggest watching Dominon to learn the truth about what really happens to the animals. I'd highly recommend checking out these short videos that go through all the excuses against going vegan and how to respond to them: th-cam.com/video/7mjVwVDDI8E/w-d-xo.html

Vegan for 5 yrs now; I had a smooth transition because my diet comprised mostly veg anyway and I wasn't eating much processed food, but fibre intake definitely went up and like you, initially there was a learning curve but I can definitely say that brain fog lifted almost immediately also blood sugar fluctuations, which was great. If you live in a lot of countries in Europe, say Italy e.g. people go to the market almost daily; we're not used to that here with supermarkets everywhere and very few farmer's markets. I shop 1x a week, have my pantry staples figured out, do batch cooking which means I really don't spend much time preparing meals the rest of the time, although I'm a born foodie and love checking out recipes and sometimes replicating things I ate as a kid in a vegan version -- my family is mediterrainan (never could spell that word) and middle European originally so I missed stuffed peppers and greek stuff and Serbian bean soup and goulash and tzatziki and guess what? So easy to veganise them. I don't go nuts over food restrictions but not that interested in mock meats etc anyway. By contrast, my sis was ethically vegan but found a real problem with legumes so she's reverted to a mostly plant-based diet but does get her protein from meat these days -- 80/20 better than nothing; we're all on our own path and everything counts. Good for you!!!!!
I'm a chef of 35 years and have recently retired to Belize and have transitioned to vegan for economical and environmental reasons. You need to understand that with a vegan diet you must balance protein in your nutritional needs with beans, grains and legumes in every meal. You can't just do raw vegetables and fruits- your body will always tell you that it is still hungry because you haven't fed yourself any protein. Protein is a major element next to vitamins, enzymes , carbohydrates and minerals. Cook your grains and beans in large batches to use in salads and cut down on energy and prep time consumption. Explore as many new seasonings and types of grains, fruits and produce as possible- your in a food Mecca and have a ton of new options to explore. Organic virgin olive oil is the main oil to use- never palm oil- that's the industry killing our rain forest habitats. Learn to cook everything fresh- it's easier than you think with a few basic techniques and good tools. Enjoy!
Lucy Buehl how is it being vegan in Belize? My family is from Belize and I will prob visit in December for a family reunion but I’m scared since I just went vegan. I’ve always visited there before but as a meat eater. Belizean food is the bomb, so need help “veganising” the dishes.
quiaful I'm on Caye Caulker and produce variety is a challenge. The local red beans are great- I've designed a few simple recipes for a variety of legume, bean and grain salads that I keep on hand. Just do the local rice with some beans on a salad for lunch and dinner. The weather is hot so we eat cooler salads most days. If you in Belize city you'll have a greater variety of produce on hand. Look to get some quinoa- it's a grain that was the cornerstone of the Aztecs, easy to cook and keeps great in the refrigerator. My go to dressing for my salads is olive oil and either fresh lime juice , balsamic or apple cider vinegar. Always onions and garlic and fresh parsley and cilantro. Hope this helps!
Lucy Buehl awesome thanks so much! Will def stick to this when I go! I just started making quinoa and it’s awesome. Not sure that I would have been able to find it in Belize but this is promising. Thank you!
Lucy Buehl ok yes I noticed it is kinda pricey in the grocery stores here so will go to Costco and look for it and take some with me when I go down to Belize.

The whole reason human societies have continued to heat their food is that there are tons of useful nutrients in your food that you can't process without heating it first. Raw veganism is absurd.
Best diet is a combination of cooked and raw. Cooking makes certain nutrients bioavailable that otherwise wouldn't be. But it also can destroy some nutrients that raw veggies contain. Too many dietary zealots out there taking sides (the whole reason vegans are widely hated in the first place) when both sides have valid arguments. I like to lightly cook my food. Makes me feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds, although that may be wrong. Always stay open to change
Hey dude, on behalf of non-raw vegans, please do not go raw. It is just not healthy and those that go raw are usually the ones that have to quit veganism because of health issues.
James Ingham raw veganism is perfectly fine if you have the time and resources to cook and prepare meals- in fact it’s a lot healthier. The possible reason for your belief that it is harmful is simply because it requires a considerably larger amount of effort to be a sustainable diet; thus making it discouraging, not unhealthy.
Raw is unnecessarily restrictive and expensive and worse for the environment. It's important to eat raw fruit and veggies, but it doesn't need to be the only thing you eat.
Malachi Padilla If healthy means shitting eight times a day, having hyperinsulinemia, hyperglucoma, and severe vitamin deficiencies from all those anti nutrients your eating.

Yeah because you're VEGETARIAN, quite different from a vegan... You can still eat foods that have actual nutrients in them
I did the 30 day vegan challenge 4.5 years ago and I will never go back to eating meat and dairy again. I used many of the arguments that you hear, it’s too difficult, too extreme, too expensive. Understanding and appreciating your food and where it came from is probably the best thing to learn, regardless of the diet you choose.

You can (and should) also appreciate the animal from which the meat came. Or, show a deeper appreciation of the animals by not paying for them to die for meat, that's where veganism comes in

The new lab grown meat may even possibly be healthier than real meat since the materials to create it come from plants like spinach. Time will tell

I think we should be all taught in school how to take care and eat both plants and animals and make our own products .
Slav Kafegiev Then most people wouldn’t eat animals, because I’m sure 90% doesn’t have the guts to kill an animal for food. How! I find it so hard. What kept u motivated?

Don't forget to supplement for B12 :)
Yes!
luiseick DISCLAIMER!!!!!

Source? I don't think only 40% are vegetarian, the no is should be higher
@PaleDale Oh no only 2.6 million years. It was just enough time for our brains to get bigger from using our intellect to hunt and fish. If you aren't smart enough to figure out that meat eating is what separates us from the apes, you might be vegan.

I know what you mean with the rigid rules. @Jake S true. But I don't think the body absorbs nutrients very well on raw food. Even if you're hitting your percentages.

LOTS of plants are harmful without some degree of processing (e.g. oxalate, lectin) because that's how they've survived. Raw veganism is pretty much a cult religion for masochists.

@The V word oh sure the best way not to kill and rape animals is to kill and rape animals right 👍
Living animals eat food.
Are you an activist? 😊
Good for you. Your approach is nonjudgmental and so real. So many people shame me for feeding my kids this way but I’m so careful and am constantly educating myself to keep my family healthy. I think every diet you follow should be researched and tracked for optional health.

I think its way better to be vegan most of the times and allow for adjustment, than being vegan for one year, making a mistake and then going back to eating meat everyday again :)
Even people who dont want to be vegan or vegetarian can contribute a lot.
@@Killzone626 exactly ^^. And there is a huge difference between eating meat once a week or every other meal. I try to tell people who like animal products to try to eat them when they really taste them (like fry the eggs and enjoy them, but try baking a vegan cake, because all the eggs and milk really dont do anything special and are easy to replace)
I agree with that, however with the state that the planet is currently in, we don't have time for people to slowly reduce their consumption of these products, going vegan is the single biggest thing anyone can do to reduce having a negative impact on the environment.
Also, even if an animal is raised well, is there a nice way to kill someone who doesn't want to die?
@@lilithstorm7026 as i said, i have not eaten meat for a decade. I know why people do this. But people wont change overnight. Heck, the meat industry is still growing. We wont change people by trying to push them towards veganism. Believe me; in my 10 years of being the only vegetarian in my family amd friends i know this
@@couch_philosoph3325 That's great that you haven't eaten animal flesh in so long. I wish I had made that decision much sooner.
I wouldn't say I "push" people towards veganism, but instead ask them questions to get them thinking with the hope that they will eventually come to their own ethical conclusion.

@roses are death That's very true. If you know that animal farming is the number one thing destroying the earth, why do you still eat animal products?

I thought the norm was get "enlightened " when you hit your 40s. So good on you youth, keep on spreading your wisdom and thank you for sharing.
Vegan for two years now! Never going back!
Nice
Same!
This Is Not A Username 5 years here and same 😁
Is eating vegan more expensive or less expensive than the way you are before?
Over 30 years here
"If a man aspires towards a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from injury to animals." - Albert Einstein
Yeah he was a meat eater
I guess basically any bs-quote out there is from "Einstein"...
Well Hitler was famous for being vegetarian so... maybe... dont judge a man on his diet?? Just sayin' XD
@Old Blood If you think that's how IQ works, maybe you should check yourself first my dear?
Can we please stop misquoting historical figures already please?
Your emotional consciousness is awakened about our food & your really listening to it. Bravo!
You look a lot better, younger. I had no idea Mexico City is so attractive. The food stalls look great.
Belizean food is the bomb, so need help “veganising” the dishes.
quiaful
I'm on Caye Caulker and produce variety is a challenge.
Thank you!
Go to Costco for quinoa- they carry an organic one in bulk very inexpensive- I'd bring some down with you because it's terribly expensive here.
Lucy Buehl ok yes I noticed it is kinda pricey in the grocery stores here so will go to Costco and look for it and take some with me when I go down to Belize.
i've been vegan for over 2 years, starting as a poor student it was difficult at first but i had so much energy i kept going. I'm never going back
I feel you. My rent consumes 65% of my income. Trying to go vegan is challenging. With consistancy, I will succeed!
thats so interesting because I found that when I changed my diet to vegan I saved SO much damn money!
Are you an activist? 😊
The comment section is amazing! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Havent seen so much positivity awhile!!!
Go vegan but DO NOT EAT A RAW DIET! COOK YOUR DAMN FOOD
eating raw vegetables is much better than cooked
@@maximilianraphael9853 Not exclusively for health. Do some more research on it, there's plenty of data explaining why it's a bad idea to never cook your food. A great channel that talks about it if you just wanna listen and not read is Mic the Vegan
Some foods are healthier raw some others don't, however first of all...clean the f vegetables 😂
@@malachipadilla2723 right, list a healthy raw diet for one day now. You just cannot get the carbohydrates or protein you need to survive. Also "cook" lmaooooo.
@@malachipadilla2723 it's just unnecessary, unhealthy and wasteful
Starting with being vegetarian🥑🍳🧀🥦. I might go vegan if it works out.
Juan Valdez that’s a great strategy! Also very good for the planet
Yeah, i did it 6 months ago and now i slowly stops eating eggs, milk and everything from animals. One thing a week so it is easy for me
Yay!! Vegetarianism is a great stepping stone to vegan/plant based. Hope it works out! May I recommend some TH-cam channels: Mik the Vegan, Nutrition Facts, and Thriving on Plants
