I didn’t know, Unathi passed. I know, Kev noticed a change in behavior. I thought pain immediately but, Kev said the Vet wasn’t concerned. He’s pain free now.

I’m so sorry. Our beloved Boxer, Sadie Bug had that issue in her spine. It came on suddenly when she was 11 and it was heartbreaking seeing her deteriorate. She had to be put down. We miss her terribly.

Grade 2 spondylolisthesis and seven spine surgeries later (all unsuccessful), I can assure you Unathi was thankful for your compassion. I would be thankful if such compassion might someday extend to humans. There are things that routinely manifest in this world that are way worse than death.

What a life our boy had. Even sometimes a grump he was a beautiful boy. May he rest in peace. Hugs to kev and staff for your loss. Meggie knew kev was cold so extra rolls and snugs. Pretty good first meeting. I love meg going back to the truck and kev for assurance. I wish she didnt have to. But the fact she has support and uses it makes me happy. It is truly hard to say goodbye to our mammal friends. The only consolation is that we as humans have the ability to relieve their suffering when all else fails. He was really handsome.

Though possibly one of the hardest decisions to make, sometimes we have to let our beloved animals find peace and let them go. It's heartbreaking, but when you love an animal, you have to do what's best for them. RIP Unathi. May you find peace roaming the Savanna in the sky with the other characters from the Sanctuary.
I love this video showing two single lions' reaction when they meet for the first time.. It's so interesting. Hope Kelvin will keep on recording more of their interactions afterwards..till they can pair up and live together. This process is so precious to watch.

For the longest time, I thought Unathi was actually called "You-Naughty" because he was such a grumpy cat. Now we know why - his pain probably made him grumpy. RIP beautiful boy. I really hope all goes well with this plan - Meg has been alone for too long, even though Kevin as given her extra love since Amy passed it would be great if she another lion with her.
i heard "you naughty" too. Kevin's channel is bittersweet because so many of his lions are incredibly old. knowing when to put them down before they suffer is our lot. Meg is okay with Icarus. old farts need company too.
I’m so sorry to hear about Unathi’s condition and the most difficult decision you had to make… It’s a part of genetic health problems with White Lions, you said… Well, that reminds me of my late furry baby because recently I lost my beloved black tiny toy poodle named Phoebe at her age of 14 years and 9 months… to severe arthritis over her spine and heart murmur. My heart was broken forever… Anyways, I totally understand your feelings about not to share everything happening at sanctuary. Somethings are better kept to your internal people only. And I thank you for letting us remember Unathi as sensitive, noble and very beautiful white lion as he was. My deepest condolences for you and everyone at sanctuary. Now, Meg 🥰🥰🥰 Oh it’s so great to see her feeling good and happily interacting with her beloved Kev🥰 I got excited when you told us to form a new pride with our beloved Meg and Icarus who just lost his buddy, Unathi. I don’t know if that would work best for both of them, but I’m just hoping that they are going to be happier and healthier, and even getting younger in both mentally and physically if/when this “forming a new pride” works out. Because, I know Meg has been lonely since her sister Any passed, and I think Icarus feels the same now, because listening to his roar that sounds to me more sadness and mourning, and others answered and grieving together… that’s how I felt while listening to their roars…because I know I’ve heard the same kind of sound of sad roars before. I know lions are very sensitive, sentient beings with emotions and feelings, caring and loving, just like us, but in a different forms and customs. Thanks to Kevin, I witnessed Meg’s roar, expressing her desperate appealing for Amy’s terminal illness. Somehow she seemed knowing it’s inevitable end was near, so she kept roaring in rain while Amy was still being with her side, just as she had been always… and others joined roaring, then Amy joined her roaring right beside her at the end. That was truly emotional, goosebumps kind of experience. That roar… Meg’s roar sounded sorrow, a bit angry and frustration, and mostly sadness. It was more like crying for her sister. That roars. Meg’s loud roar resonated with others grabbed and broke my heart, echoing in the air and left me awe and permanent impression of how lions are so much complicated and sophisticated beings with deep emotions and rich feelings toward others, family and friends.
Unathi, was my favourite Lion of the Sanctuary! He'll be remembered forever. RIP dear Unathi. Thank you so much Kevin for recording all the wonderful moments with him. 🙏

Amy waited for Kevin to return from holiday. As soon as he got back and saw her, she passed. She waited for him so she could say goodbye.🦁💖

I sorry for the lost of Unathi, but it was the best thing you could do to help him and not let him safer. I also wish you Kevin good luck with the attempt to put Meg and Icarus together. Thank you for letting us know for the latest news in the sanctuary with this lovely video!

Seriously, I can listen to Kevin laughing while he's visiting with Meggie and watch her enjoy every single second of it, ALL DAY LONG!! LOVE YOU BOTH.
It is truly hard to say goodbye to our mammal friends. The only consolation is that we as humans have the ability to relieve their suffering when all else fails. He was really handsome.
So saddened to hear about Unathi. He was such a sweet boy, despite his grumpiness. Though possibly one of the hardest decisions to make, sometimes we have to let our beloved animals find peace and let them go. It's heartbreaking, but when you love an animal, you have to do what's best for them. RIP Unathi. May you find peace roaming the Savanna in the sky with the other characters from the Sanctuary.

I love this video showing two single lions' reaction when they meet for the first time.. It's so interesting. Hope Kelvin will keep on recording more of their interactions afterwards..till they can pair up and live together. This process is so precious to watch.

For the longest time, I thought Unathi was actually called "You-Naughty" because he was such a grumpy cat. Now we know why - his pain probably made him grumpy. RIP beautiful boy. I really hope all goes well with this plan - Meg has been alone for too long, even though Kevin as given her extra love since Amy passed it would be great if she another lion with her.
i heard "you naughty" too. Kevin's channel is bittersweet because so many of his lions are incredibly old. knowing when to put them down before they suffer is our lot.

I’m so sorry to hear about Unathi’s condition and the most difficult decision you had to make… It’s a part of genetic health problems with White Lions, you said… Well, that reminds me of my late furry baby because recently I lost my beloved black tiny toy poodle named Phoebe at her age of 14 years and 9 months… to severe arthritis over her spine and heart murmur. My heart was broken forever…
Anyways, I totally understand your feelings about not to share everything happening at sanctuary. Somethings are better kept to your internal people only. And I thank you for letting us remember Unathi as sensitive, noble and very beautiful white lion as he was. My deepest condolences for you and everyone at sanctuary.
Now, Meg 🥰🥰🥰 Oh it’s so great to see her feeling good and happily interacting with her beloved Kev🥰 I got excited when you told us to form a new pride with our beloved Meg and Icarus who just lost his buddy, Unathi.
I don’t know if that would work best for both of them, but I’m just hoping that they are going to be happier and healthier, and even getting younger in both mentally and physically if/when this “forming a new pride” works out. Because, I know Meg has been lonely since her sister Any passed, and I think Icarus feels the same now, because listening to his roar that sounds to me more sadness and mourning, and others answered and grieving together… that’s how I felt while listening to their roars…because I know I’ve heard the same kind of sound of sad roars before.
I know lions are very sensitive, sentient beings with emotions and feelings, caring and loving, just like us, but in a different forms and customs.
Thanks to Kevin, I witnessed Meg’s roar, expressing her desperate appealing for Amy’s terminal illness. Somehow she seemed knowing it’s inevitable end was near, so she kept roaring in rain while Amy was still being with her side, just as she had been always… and others joined roaring, then Amy joined her roaring right beside her at the end. That was truly emotional, goosebumps kind of experience. That roar… Meg’s roar sounded sorrow, a bit angry and frustration, and mostly sadness. It was more like crying for her sister.
That roars. Meg’s loud roar resonated with others grabbed and broke my heart, echoing in the air and left me awe and permanent impression of how lions are so much complicated and sophisticated beings with deep emotions and rich feelings toward others, family and friends.
RIP Unathi....❤ and thank you for all your hard work and love Kevin Richardson ❤
