I just had the worst night of my life. Someone I loved betrayed me really bad. This put me to sleep. Thank you Rob. You are amazing. Just... Thank You.
I had something similar happen last year, my advice, just try not to think about it too much. I know its hard but the more you think about it, the more it will hurt you. Just remember, no matter what happens, life goes on. The more you stay thinking on what happened, it will just be valuable time that you only get once, thrown away. Try being with friends a lot, they will support you as much as they can. It also helps to fill the void with a hobby, for example, mine was listening to, studying, and making music. Ever since I started using that as a distraction, I havent only started to feel better, but I also got good at it. If all else fails, remember time will heal a broken heart. Everything will get better eventually bro. Just keep looking for hope. :)
I went through all of your "Half Hour of..." videos when writing an English paper. They kept me calm and somehow I wrote the best English paper I had written in all of High School. Your music is amazing and you should keep doing what you're doing Rob.
Rob Scallon, you are my inspiration for music, my introduction to metal, you inspired me to learn the cello, you fascinate me with your playing style, And I strive to one day play like you, My life has changed this past year, and I think that you are the biggest reason for that, I sincerely thank you. ~Alec
Rob Scallon, I peak through your window at nigght and watch you sleep. I sneak in and steal toe nail clippings and add them to my secret collection for safe keeping. You are my hero, I love you. ~Jimmy
The way you play bass is so relaxing, I find most bassists are about speed and jumpy riffs (Scott Devine I love you man but slow down) this... this is musical meditation, I love it! Great bass too, I want to try one myself
Jack Blanchette I was about to comment that since I play the upright bass and I love the sound of it. So, 30 minutes of it by someone who is a billion times better than me at it would be beautiful.
I am going through some really heartbreaking stuff right now with someone I love more than anything in this world, more than life it's self, more than even myself. But this video made me realize that it's all going to be okay, no matter what happens. :') Thanks Rob
I still come back to this video. Saw it the day it came out, and still love it. It's perfect for relaxing, sleeping, studying, just about anything really. Rob inspired me to buy my first bass guitar not long ago. I know this is almost a year ago now, but thanks man.
And thats why i just started playing bass. Eventhough i cant play it , it easily puts me in meditative state. Once i fell asleep with it and woke up playing same line only other instruments that do that to me is native american flute and duduk
For two weeks I've had trouble sleeping but not anymore... dozed off in 5 mins and woke up after this track ended now to put this on repeat so I can have a good night sleep!
Still coming back to this. Thanks Rob for your simple and creative work here. Music tries too hard sometimes, and this is proof that beauty doesn't need to grab your attention the way the industry tries to.
+Rob Scallon after watching this video too many times to count I just want you to know that I really like these half hour videos and you're truly talented, thank you for doing what you do
I loved the uncompressed sound of the bass with fret buzz and everything.... as a bass player myself I think this is the greatest contribution to music itself... keep it up Rob I (we) love you
At the moment of before watching this video, I was starting to get asthma, I clicked on this video due that I'm subscribed to you, but there are always some videos I miss because of reasons, but I really love your channel. Anyways, the thing is that as I continued listening to this, my breathing went back to normal because of how calm and awesome this sounds. Thanks, is something very little, but for me, to realise or to double confirm that music really is magical and even healthy, is awesome. Rob I love you (No homo though, please xD)
Dude, I love Hajime no Ippo! I need to get back into anime just for that. I used to have Victorious Boxing back in the day on PS2 before I'd even seen the anime, but I stupidly lent it to a friend and never saw it again. Almost as sad as Miyata losing.
Definately one of the best videos on TH-cam. Quality fucking content at its best here. This song is just soooo chill. Goes great with homework/studying.
I have had bass lessons for 2.5 months and I can play stuff like Wasted Years (Iron Maiden) Angel of Death (Slayer) and For Whom the bell tolls (metallica) I'm pretty proud of myself.
Usually I dont like that guitar design for bass, but with that specific colour, it look absolutely fantastic! Also I love this, really relaxing! Keep up the great work (as you always do)!
Oh ... My ears are askin' for more ,just woaw, This is amazing , maybe my favorite videos of yours , i know that you've a lot of comments and you'll maybe never saw this one but... I TOTALLY LOVE THIS BASS LINE , so calm, so sweet, maybe a little sad ... Just what i needed right now, Thank you mr Scallon you're the best :) (please to excuse my grammar i'm french and only fifteen ...I did what i could have ^^ )
Omg, this is great cuz my buddy and I were just arguing about the difference between a cello and a stand up bass... he thinks they are the same, so thanks for backing me up with some visual aid... also ur a sav on bass dude...
This helped so much and it helped me relax. It almost made me fall asleep... and just, like... fall... into the... waves of... en.... chant.......................................
The first song. It makes me miss my ex. Damn. Not a day has gone by that i havent thought of her. I just wanted us to be happy yknow? To be happy people. To not not care about things. To love man. I almost want to cry. But i wont. Because what would that do? Love is a sucky thing sometimes. Most times. I remember every second i spent with her. I remember wanting to spend my life with her, to wake up to her smile and her green eyes and hear her goofy laugh with snorts. I remember our first kiss. How i didnt immediately go for it, despite being so close, just because i wasnt sure if it was there for her too. And then when i did, and she pulled me back in. And how when she walked me home after that i grabbed her, bent her back a little and kissed her again. I remember when she told me that when we would hug, shed listen to my heart because it helped her calm down during her moments. I remember her telling me that we were always gonna be together. When we broke up, i remember her telling me she wasn't abandoning me. And i remember when she finally said itd be best if we didnt talk anymore. Love hurts Rob. Love fucking hurts. But hey. Thank you for making music to feel to. All half hour was a ride.
adrian I like to put his 30 minutes on in the background and they chill me right out haha, i dont think they're really for people to sit down and stare at personally :P
adrian Got some interesting info on that actually! So, I don't have data on this video yet. But according to TH-cam analytics for "Half Hour of Acoustic Guitar" The average view is around 5 minutes. 74% of viewers will leave the video within 3 minutes. but 8.9% percent of viewers will have the video play in it's entirety. There's also a small peak in viewership around the 20 minute mark were I assume viewers are skipping forward to see if it's actually a full half hour of playing.
+adrian I have watched all of Rob's 30 minute videos in their entirety multiple times each. I just throw them on while I'm surfing the web, playing games, doing chores or just wanting to chill out to 30 minutes of music without words in it. Relaxing really. ^_^
My god...its like listening to the power of bass being revealed, while it is thought to be the instrument that most people never think about, this proves that the bass is just as fantastic at making such art like a guitar.... Good job rob

+Kraken546 really a shitty day, btw perfect half hour
The Official Spax Yeah man, totally right
it's like the first 30 minutes of waking up and nobody else is in the house. quiet and peaceful. and slightly disoriented.
This is the main reason I got a bass guitar. Been playing for about 2 years now and I love it!!
is it just me that had this? the 10 second advert was an advert for this exact bass, confused

TheMaximusprime09 chowny?
what does that mean?
ahhh! i follow now, the advert came up a while ago and i am a bit crap at remembering things
I'd love to see 30 minutes of upright bass. That has potential to be either really funky or really relaxing, either is great in my opinion!
Jack Blanchette I was about to comment that since I play the upright bass and I love the sound of it. So, 30 minutes of it by someone who is a billion times better than me at it would be beautiful.
This was beyond beautiful. Seriously.
Mattis Finstad Hansen glad you think so :)
i love how you can make the bass, that's so generally simplistic in songs become the beautiful melody that IS the song...thank you

These "30 minuets of" Have been my study playlist all week. Thanks Rob!
Man that first little rhythm just activated some untouched portion of my brain. Whole thing is fantastic but the beginning blew me away.
You probably don't even read comments, but whatever; I wish you'd upload more of this kind of content.
This is soooo good. My parents and I finally bonded over music! I can't thank you enough.

Jake S Like, the whole of your ears?
Well that's how sound works

Lol I definitely heard you playing around with A Collapse around 18:00 to 20:00. Amazing video and an amazing song!
Waiting for Glenn Fricker to make another exception to the Rule #2.
+Jan Kain Same
Haha well he did say bass players who play guitar and other instruments well are an exception I think
***** that sounds pretty arbitrary ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
+SirBennerth No there isn't. Every bassist is a musician but not every musician is a bassist.
***** I got the Glenn Fricker reference ;) Your comment just didn't come across as a joke ... the disadvantage of typed text I suppose xD
Beautiful, just absolutely beautiful.
What about making a cover with Davie504?
I like this idea , I feel they would mesh well
Slap guitar vs Slap bass
+Yiu ehy BRO, that's sounds too goodz for my ears

what, it's already over? I was actually enjoying this. It was so relaxing. Thank you for this video :)
just came in after watching Miyata lose in Hajime No Ippo. This bass music really brings more somber feels to an already sad moment.
Dude, I love Hajime no Ippo! I need to get back into anime just for that. I used to have Victorious Boxing back in the day on PS2 before I'd even seen the anime, but I stupidly lent it to a friend and never saw it again. Almost as sad as Miyata losing.

Such a nice sound! I love it.
Would you do a "Half Hour Of Ukulele" video?
as a bassplayer myself this video makes me smile for 30 minutes and 19 seconds... it's really beautiful, Rob :) well done!
Kinda reminds me of The Last Of Us theme song, anyway well done Rob !
DinoCujko I was thinking the same thing at the beginning
DinoCujko The only thing that resembles the last of us theme song is the instrument being played.
Edu But the last of us theme is played mostly on a ronroco, a small 10 stringed guitar-like instrument.

Lejundairy Listen to The Last of Us OST - The Choice.
Oh ... My ears are askin' for more ,just woaw, This is amazing , maybe my favorite videos of yours , i know that you've a lot of comments and you'll maybe never saw this one but... This is beautiful.
Rob some slap pieces wouldn't go amiss
My god...its like listening to the power of bass being revealed, while it is thought to be the instrument that most people never think about, this proves that the bass is just as fantastic at making such art like a guitar....

Its been too long since we got another one of these
One of the best bass videos on the internet, keep doing more of these.
Best half hour on TH-cam.
I hope you make another one of these, I love this one and the 12 string guitar that you played for half an hour, pretty good playing, and nice to listen to, you know hear these instruments really played like this too much, or at least from what I have come across.
Anyway, great playing, love it, and I hope you decide to make another!
You've got the best intonation on this bass. Set in a sweet zone for melody or drone. Great music with improvisation. It is live and real ...
The only long bass arrangement on TH-cam, Thank you. It's so relaxing and i was searching just for something like this 🙂
i heard the cheeky bit of "a collapse" in there, not that it's a bad thing, thanks for this! love how ambient your playing is
Why is it so hard to find someone actually playing the bass online, that isn't a cover?
If anyone can help me find some bass music for listening to, preferably fast or rock style, that doesn't have guitar's screeching over it, that would be awesome.
Sweet, hauntingly beautiful and majestic. You make the bass sing buddy. Great job - I thoroughly enjoyed listening to a half hour of bass!
Rob, thank you, this is one of the most peaceful sounding things I have ever heard, really helps with any nervousness or anxiety.
