The Shiva sticks have a skin/shell on them. I take my thumb nail & peel a little section. It will harden again as it dries & I really like that about them, so they don’t mark things up or get squished when toting them around. I often dip a paintbrush in them & use them that way, since they are super pigmented.

Thanks. I’ll have to try using the paint brush too next time. I found another artist on TH-cam who dips the Shiva paint sticks in Gamsol or solvent first and then draws with them on canvas as part of his art process. I love learning new ways to use my supplies.
