Jazza: "We need a Bob Ross break!"
*Jazza applies the liquid white*
That sure was some strong commitment. :P
Jazza: If I did a refined oil painting I think I'd go insane
Everyone: JAZZA DO A REFINED OIL PAINTING!!!
Jazza- “It’s not Van Gough... it’s...”
Me -“Van Bro?”
Jazza- “Van ready”
Me- “ok then.”
I think he was going for something in between Van Gogh like Van-GO and Van Stay... haha
@@violetvonbuskirk3777 but he should have Van Stoped
Van ready set go
I said Van No and Dan Gough
I thought he was going to say Van Come.
There was a minute there when I thought the "noble" portrait was going to turn into a renaissance style portrait of Bob Ross. That would be a pretty good Jazza move: "I'm not going to paint a Bob Ross this time... but I am going to paint Bob Ross."
same here because the scetch liked like a afro
Oil paints: *signature look of superiority*
Oil sticks: *it's Monday again isn't it vibe*
100th liked by me
@@user-kn6jg8kj6d noice
Jazza's noble painting looks like he's about to ask me for my strongest potions
He’s trippin
Potion seller. I am going into battle, and I require your strongest potions
I suggest you go and find a potion seller that sells weaker potions since my potions could kill a beast let alone a man
Let me just say, i love this
Super fun 😊
Aren’t oil sticks just large oil pastels-
That’s what I was thinking the whole time
In a way yes but for the most part no they are way more runny and loose it almost feels like using lipstick that doesn't break apart easily when it touches paper
No. Oil pastels never dry. Once fully dry, paintings done using oil sticks are hard like an oil painting.
@@mypandapaints5854 Ah, okay
That’s the reason i came to the comment section, i wanted to see if anyone thought that too
For a person like me who is allergic to paint thinners oil sticks can be a game changer. All the time you are learning and experimenting with a new medium you are teaching as as well. Amazing content 👍🏼
Now that Jazza's done a rough sketch, next time do a refined oil painting like those fancy regal portraits. Maybe just a small one so that he doesn't go crazy.
orr...... he could go crazy and itll be super entertaining :^))) jk plz dont go crazy jazza
Smaller is harder trust me
Before he doing that he should take a skillshare course on oil painting
He could just go to smaller and smaller canvas.
11:50 Jazza pointing to two oil paint masterpieces:
"So here is the result of my sKeTcHeS"
I know right???
A 'sketch' like that would take me weeks haha
@@amiemarieart Exactly??! XD
When Jazza's "relaxed" oil painting took 1.5 hrs when it would've been a high school project that I need months to do and be not even half as good.
An idea for oil painting: jazz’s paints an old-fashioned portrait of his family. Or just his wife.
I would love this great idea!
Nah
When Jazza says your name, So... you gotta just play it cool 😎 😏

i'd love to see more painted in oil, maybe try unusual things like painting a comic strip or a detailed landscape...
Yes! More oil paintings! (Please) And a comic strip would be so hard, but so cool :O
Yesssss
"Accidental Van Gogh" should be the official name of that painting now
I'm in an art history class this semester so watching you use oil paints reminded of some of the amazing masterpieces I've been learning about. Honestly these two "sketches" that you have created look like works that would be in textbooks or museums some day.
Similar are used in graffiti they are called solid paint sticks and are used for sketching on a wall or for rougher surfaces that would destroy a normal marker
I feel like the oil paint character is judging the oil stick character, who in turn just does not care at all XD
he's a true stoic
yes
I really love how you explore art and make it so accessible to everyone. It is really awesome and encourages those of us who suck but enjoy art to just explore what we like and have fun.
can you do an awkward portrait of Gareth and Jeremy? Like those awkward prom photos, but a refined oil painting and they have to stand there the whole time
When he was trying to make a joke out of Van Gogh’s name, “Vans Gogh” immediately popped into my head and now I just have this picture of Van Gogh wearing Vans in my head
And not an artsy van rental company?
Nice profile pic (finga guns) 👉🏻👉🏻
@@DoctorMagoo111 I mean, you do you if that’s what you want to imagine
@@aleccheckmate2283 Thank you! I drew it myself :)
Van Gogh, parked by the beach, sitting at in a van, half out the open drivers side door, putting on his vans because really, who drives wearing flip flops?
Art teacher rant: The reason it turns out olive green and not bright green is that you used a warm yellow with a slightly orange tint and an ultramarine blue. it DOES matter which red yellow and blue you use. Primary colours are not ANY red yellow and blue! Only Lemon Yellow, Cyan blue (or cerulean) and Magenta red. any other hues will distort the result! (or create more natural, earthy tones like that dark purple or olive green
That is not something I was EVER taught in my high school art class and I was always frustrated that I couldn't mix the right shades with the paint that I had!
I’m an art major and I thought you’d appreciate this slightly irritating part of my class:
We were given a set of watercolor paints and had to make a color wheel with a golden yellow, ultramarine blue, and “crimson” that was actually a red-orange color. I had to use gouache with them but she’ll never know 😭😂 but how were we supposed to do a color wheel without primary colors?
Lemon yellow is made by adding orange to yellow. Cerulean is something like2 grays and a blue....crimson is like 2 reds ,an orange n an extra red or something like that 😅😅😅😅😅 gonna need another word apart from primary.even cyan is blue with a tiny bit of green
So *that’s* why the other primary colors are known as yellow, cyan, and magenta
I’m like that too! I hate when people complain that their colors aren’t right, when they aren’t using the right colors!😂
This was really cool! I love how the oil paint portrait overall looked softer whereas the oil sticks portrait looked a bit stronger, sharper maybe. I don't know exactly how to describe art but it felt harsher somehow. It was really interesting to see
I actually think the opposite
@@foxnamedandrea1511 I think the background of the sticks looks much harsher than the paints. Perhaps it's just the colours, but it looks sort of grainier and less muddy.
These are actually stunning, I’d love to see you do more oil that isn’t a bob ross tutorial
When Jazza says he’d go insane if he did a refine oil painting....I used to do them and with working on them 4 hours a week they took year years and not nearly as good whoops
I never could get the hang of oils. Or acrylics even. The way the colours mixed just never wanted to work with me no matter my amount of practice, it didn’t improve my issues with the paints. I ended up being at decent water based mediums and wouldn’t trade my skills with them for the world, though I must admit oil paint makes me feel a bit defeated haha
@@PinkWytchBytch same, I'd also rather keep building on my strengths rather than weaknesses
I love it when Jazza gets to just play around and enjoy himself. 💜
yes, it's just so nice to see him make some "simple", amazing art. The art gimmick videos are cool and all, put this feels much more down to earth and overall more enjoyable
Ugh I love seeing jazz’s so inspired and happy just playing around with art. This is when he makes his best artworks and it’s really inspiring!!
“oil paint sticks”
not.. *oil pastels?!*
Yah they r just oil pastel!!
Jazza: I'm not good at realism
Also Jazza: Makes these two pieces of art
In about an hour too.... lol
I mean, they aren't really realism, though. They're good. But they're not realistic.
Adam Mejlshede they are realistic, not real, but realistic
Well yeah he's not that good
Uhm. That's not realism.
jazza: “i think they would be a bit snooty”
painting: *signature look of supiriority*
I loved that! Seeing jazza just genuinely and simply painting and having fun
It'd be cool if he did more oil paintings
Stepped away, came back, thought you were painting Bob Ross and his glorious afro
I love how the oil paint dude just looks like he's looking down on someone like: "Yea, I'm better than you"
And he is
I’m getting an “Uh, it’s you, what do you want?” vibe.
Ur name is nice to kyra keefer
And the oil sticks dude looks like he's done with everything, "what am I doing with my life?"
That's what I was thinking too
When your canvas gets too loose, you can actually paint the back of it with (preferably white and liquid acrylic) paint, normally it's tightening the canvas again. At least it worked for me every time :)
I just paint the back with a thin layer of water. The fibers tighten almost immediately.
I gotta remember this! Im getting back to oils after three decades (or more), last used them as a kid with granpa, acrylics were unknown back then. Thank you so much, I might have a chance now! Or its less taunting at least :)
Please more sketchy oil paintings! Oils are so difficult, so I need to try your sketch method so I dont put so much pressure on myself to make things perfect
These paintings are amazing! I would love to see more paintings in this sketchy style!!
Jazza says snobby, arrogant renaissance man, but deep down, we all know what that truly is...
Medieval Elvis
As someone that also whatches Baumgartner Restoration, i just cant help but imagine these paintings in, idk, 70 years ahead being restored
I was thinking this exactly!! Just thinking how jazza's 'style' and paint stick strokes would be interpreted and described had me really wanting a 70 year long collab:-)
I found my people😂
@Cheap good quality bro what
They’d be crying at the staples lol
As a noob in the art world (most of my drawing have come from a standard 2hb pencil on loose leaf paper) I have more recentlyn because of your videos Jazzan been broadening my horizons. I have been using different mediums and learning more and more about the best ways to achieve what I see in my mind to translate to my drawings. Thank you. I wish I had followed you when you were doing your pro artists pack but c'est la vie. Thank you for the inspiration!
The oil sticks portrait looks so cool and vibrant
Jazza actually read instructions without making a fuss about it
He read them kinesthetically though!
So good to see!
Video idea: Creating artworks with painting mediums with a style of the era the mediums were invented.
Oooh, fun! :D
JAZZA! I love the fact that you are still experimenting, but putting more... authenticity and freedom, in which your happiness has been coming through. Glad to see you back, that spirit. I'd love to see you push the oil paint/stick exploration, but with an entire story illustration.
When you think that he was painting bob ross for a solid 3 minutes.
Edit: Also thanks for the likes I didn't expect this to get this much attention. 😂
I thought the exact same thing
Same lol

His little oilstick collection looks like: „I don‘t know what they do, so i bought all of them“ 😂
That just the person he is lol
I love how Jazza is still surprised that he can use a specific medium and make it look cool. I mean by now, you'd have thought he'd have realised he could literally use a potato and make something that looks great
Your oil painting videos are my favorite videos. The first vid I watched on your channel was the “expensive oil paints” video.
Idk why exactly. But i think the oil sticks turned out better. They do 100% both look great & have their own ups & downs. But i enjoy the final look and seemingly a bit more detail to the oil sticks. I know it took more work. Which is one of the cons for the sticks. Idk. They seem to be just a very different art medium. But both very beautiful in their own way. I reallllly want to get my hands on some of those oil sticks now. I've never tried using them. Awesome video !! As usual, Thanks for the in site!!
Jazza is a great artist. He can express himself artistically with any tool.
Jazza : I haven't done much of oil painting painting, and I have a lot to learn

when he started drawing the sketch thingie for the oil colour like first one I thought he was going to draw Bob Ross in ancient style💀✋🏻
Lol 😂

Wasn't expecting how refreshing it was to see working with more traditional methods! I love digital art, but maybe break from it is in place time to time
I really love how the oil stick painting turned out. I like the textures and brush strokes that go with the paint but there is just something about the stick painting that captures my attention more.
I just gotta say: This is an amazing video. I love the vibe throughout, your approach and the amazing outcomes. It's really amazing and inspiring (at the very least me) to get creative with different art mediums.
Much love and again:
Fantastic job Jazza!
Yes!! Oil sticks are a harmony of drawing & painting ❤️❤️❤️
Can we just take a moment for how incredibly talented he is! He can turn his hand to anything. Simply amazing.
Oil-based media are definitely my favorites. I adore oil paint and oil pastels, and I've been dying to try oil sticks.
Love the oil sticks - great texture and colour intensity
He can improvise with anything
personally i'd love to watch you paint more stuff like realism / portraits, etc.!
Stix as a base, paints to finish! Works great.
I love the art medium experiment videos! They're my favorite! You, Jazza, do such a good job of breaking it down and explaining everything step by step. 💜
at the end my dad came in the room and i paused the video when they were side-by-side and he asked "who is that, is that van gogh?" so your wife isn't the only one, jazza 😂
Seeing Jazza with the brush in his mouth: Thank God, I'm not the only one xD
Haha I do that all the time when I paint!
I like the paint sticks painting the best! Good work! I have found that painting with the oil sticks is best if you paint over acrylic, both paintings I have done were that way. The acrylic adds strength to the canvas and it doesn't bow as much.
I use oil sticks all the time in my art. It is genuinly my favorite medium to use when I create mixed media.
I love how ADC gave him enough stuff to try different art style and make multiple videos on
And jazza sent him a box of garbage he wanted to get rid off
I cringe when I saw “Oil sticks” they are the Bane of my existence! All joking aside, I became jaded with them because I was told by my visual art specific high school to buy it, and we were never taught how to use those stupid things (We were told to specifically to buy the Shiva oil sticks I remember), so we wasted money on sticks we weren’t even going to use or learn to use and they were a nightmare to use when I was a high school student. Part of it was due to the dried oil on top to keep it from fully drying out and it *was not explained this was the case*. So I’m going to be honest that I kinda wished you were given these back then so I could have at least learn what they did so I could use them more effectively back then lol.
Excellent demonstration and painting!!
I LOVED this, so therapeutic to watch, more more
My stupid brain thought the title was “I put oil paint in markers” and now I need that video even if it never happens
Dude I read oil paint stickers 😂🤦♂️

Yes haha
I don't think that would work oil paint is very thick
Tip I wish I knew: If the canvas has too much give use the stretchers in the back, that’s what they’re for.
yeah, also getting the back damp with water will tighten it up. There were so many bad techniques used in this video..
@@oosmosmoo cause he’s not a painter. Who cares about the technique if he likes it
@@ConnorVide I probably should have given constructive criticism only my bad. apologies. dampening the back of the cnvas is still the best way to go though!
@@oosmosmoo quick question, how much prior to starting the painting should you damp the back with water? And approx how damp? Been painting for a while but only recently started using canvas so I'm still unaware of these little tricks 😅
@@Kreyatura I always dampen it before starting the painting, then let it dry. You can also dampen it throughout the process too. Not sure about oils though. Once you are finished use a spray bottle and spray down the loose areas and it should tighten up! Hope that helps.
I ADORE oil paint sticks!! They are by far my favorite medium!
Love both of these 😍 the van-no more cause I love texture and the use of the warmer tones, love me a deep brown.
On the oil stick painting I really like the eyes the expression they give is shown through with the intensity of the blue
I thought jazza was going to draw Bob Ross at the sketch stage not a nobleman, or though I guess Bob Ross is noble! Lol 😂
I love this! More oil painting please 🤩😍

you can tell it's gonna be a good day when jazza uploads!
Man jazza is impressive. No matter the material or style he tries, he makes something inspiring and impressive everytime! An all rounder artist!
I have used these sticks before and they lay down the sketchy first layers so easy, then I used them in combination with my palette to mix more colors and apply them to the canvas. This eliminated the stretching of the canvas. If you want the canvas to tighten up you can spray the back with water and let it dry, then the canvas tighten up between coats. I would like to see you work with soft pastels? I have recently started using them and they have been quite a challenge! Let's see how you work with this rather difficult medium!! I suggest a TH-camr to watch is Alain Picard If you can work in or like his style this is a great accomplishment! So Go Jazza Go!
why is he such a good artist is a multitude of mediums.... its amazing!
