I can't believe it almost entirely cancels out a BLENDER. Time to bring on an even tougher test. Like the "rock concert" test, or the "low altitude flyby sonic boom" test?

Having watched your review, I decided to purchase the Talk 65 headset and compare it to my other Jabra devices.
It definitely outperforms them in terms of noise cancelling, that's a fact.
However, at the cost of voice clarity, I believe.
Surprisingly, higher voice frequencies are better picked by my daily driver, which is Talk 45. Tested by sending myself voice messages recorded on both.
Still, to avoid subjective opinions like mine, it would be helpful to analyse a detailed test and comparison of frequency ranges picked, transmitted and reproduced by some popular Jabra headsets.
Anyway, thank you for your very informative and practical presentation, Ixchel 🙂

Thank you for your review. I have to add. I am using this headset for 3 months. I tried all the scenario where Noise Cancelling is mostly needed. I am not sure in which scenario have you tested this headset but in my case of whatsapp calls, or Microsoft Teams call it does not cancel any background noises and the microphone capture each and every drop of noise from the surrounding. I have contacted the jabra support. They said it is not optimized for Teams and Whatsapp. I tried with the normal call it even not working there as well. I test with online voice recorder yes there it is affectively reducing surrounding noise. Buttom line is, when it is not working on whatsapp calls, or microsoft teams calls then it does not fullfil the purpose of noise canceling microphone. This headset does not even Support Jabra 380 Dongle officially. Yes I somehow connected with that but still noise Cancelling in microphone is the issue.

Could you guys do a video explaining and demonstrating the call quality (what we would hear and how we would be heard) offered by the various bluetooth codecs/profiles, and explain how to determine what we can expect from a given combination of headset and whatever device we're connecting it to?
That is a seriously under-explained topic these days and even after googling it for quite some time I'm not clear on the subject. It seems most of the time we just see "this device is bluetooth version x.x", but rarely are the underlying supported profiles mentioned, and that seems to be what actually determines if on a phone call you sound like you're on an old fashioned 4 KHz mono telephone or a more modern and clear 16+ KHz connection.
I know you guys are doing a microphone test in these videos, but the mics on many of these devices over bluetooth often times sounds much better if you're only recording audio and not also listening to audio at the same time (1 way audio vs 2 way).

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Great idea Kyle, let us see what we can come up with. I know something we're starting to hear more of is customers want stereo audio in their headphones while their mic is active. Any headsets we've tested so far don't give stereo audio and great mic quality at the same time. In order to enable stereo audio, we find you have to disable your microphone or set the microphone in your computer settings to something aside from the headset.
Some customers we've seen who want stereo audio in the speakers and great mic quality, use whichever headphones they prefer then add the Modmic here th-cam.com/video/Tut1KDa_S3M/w-d-xo.html
Since you're using one audio output for the mic and another for the speakers, it gives you stereo sound you'd like and great mic quality.

just bought it... I'm conflicted. On side I really like the voice quality and sound (technically), but I'm just completely unable to ever easily get a good fit, when I jam it in my ear like a maniac (tried with the 3 sizes of gel fittings) it can kinda stick in there and have a good sound for a while, but the gel eventually spring it out. It naturally just sits against the ear in a very shaky way, and in that position the sound is terrible, it's exactly like listening to an earbud you're holding next to your ear.

  • @revolversntulips

I've recently bought the jabra talk 65. Very satisfied. Flawless for indoor use but unfortunately it does a poor job in terms of cancelling wind noise - several I've spoken to complaint about the wind. I will try tu put a small windshield thingy on and try it out(like bigger microphones have in interviews, film etc)

If you have an Android or iPhone look up how to turn on voice isolation or noise suppression and this could help improve the microphone when there's wind noise.

the 300 feet/100 meter range rating sounds very high, for a bluetooth headset at least.. maybe a range test video could be a good idea (and comparing it with some alternatives like Voyager 5200 or Stealth or Presence UC), like in the WH62 vs Adapt 30 video? :)

    Two things I don’t like
    - The ringtone alert is rubbish. It beeps once when an incoming call comes in and it’s so quiet that you can’t even hear it.
    - When playing music on my Plantronics I was able to hit the “answer” button to stop the music and hit it again to restart the music. You can’t do that on this. I have to physically stop and start the music from my phone.

I decided to try this headset after realizing Plantronics has turned to garbage & have one HUGE complaint. How can you increase the volume of the alert and/or ringing when getting an incoming call?!?!? I'm using an iPhone 14 & keep the phone on on silent/vibrate mode the majority of the time & when receiving a call I can BARELY hear it! Everything else works fine - listening to podcasts, XM Radio, the phone calls themselves, but an incoming call? I've got to practically stop breathing to make sure I am hearing it. Apple support was of no help & while Jabra was nice enough to send me a warranty replacement, the problem is still there. I'm kinda disappointed with the lack of any app for it, wondering if there could be a fix for that, there, but if ANYONE can tell me how to fix my issue, I'd appreciate it. Other than that, it's a great headset!

This is why Bluetooth headsets for mobile phones that don't include the USB Dongle aren't recommended for computers. The Link 370 isn't compatible with the Talk 65 that we're aware of so you'd want to get a different headset like the Poly Voyager 5200 UC or Yealink BH71 Pro.

Jabra = garbage - don’t bother with it.
Repurchasing the Poly Voyager 5200 as it is streets ahead of this Jabra toy. I’ll put up with USB-micro and 7hrs battery time because the device is still galactically better.. forget the Jabra
