Which Headset Noise Cancelling Mics Work Best in a Coffee Shop?

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 7 มิ.ย. 2024
- In this video, we test multiple headsets in a very busy and noisy coffee shop to see how well the noise-canceling microphones perform. This is a very common remote work environment and we’ve had several requests to test headsets here. Which headsets or earbuds performed the best? What other headsets would you like us to test? Let us know in the comments!

Excellent testing! Testing in live environments gives more accurate results than playing office sounds and barking dogs from a speaker. Thank you! I was surprised how poorly the Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex performed. I recently purchased that model and now will be considering other models. The Epos Impact 1000 sounded great. 5200 sounded OK (I have a 5200 and it is the best option outdoors in wind). JPL Element, Poly Voyager Focus 2 and Jabra Engage 55 sounded good.
Yes! Testing in live environments is always the best! We'll be doing another video featuring corded USB headsets. Scouting locations here in on the Space Coast of Florida. The EPOS Impact 1000 has been the top performer however, I do like the Evolve2 65 Flex for comfort and small form factor for portability. I'll be creating a video discussing and showing the various headset carry bags and cases. No one talks about them much, but if you are traveling or in a hybrid work environment where you transport your gear between locations, how your headsets are packed, stored and protected become a little more important. Appreciate you watching and sharing your great feedback!

Incredible review of anc mics! I've only recently learned there's a difference between anc ear and mics. I specifically need a headset that cancels all background noise. This was awesome. Would have loved to see apple air pods pro in this
Thank you so much for watching and supporting our channel! And yes! Next time I’ll include the Apple AirPods Pro.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is the technology used in the headset speakers to help the wearer suppress background noise. There are three different ANC technologies: ANC, Hybrid ANC and Adaptive ANC. I may write a blog or create a video explaining the differences.
Noise Canceling (NC) is the technology used in the headset microphone to help suppress background noise your callers hear.

same and I am trying the same now also because of this video!
How is it hearing other people in a noisy environment? He tested the mic but is there noise cancellation so you can hear people in a noisy environment as well?
Wow EPOS and Jabra Engage 55 was impressive! Glad the Yealink BH72's mic worked well.
Also as a Shokz OpenComms2 UC user, mic might be good but it's unusable in a cafe.... way too noisy to hear other people :D That's when I use my Yealink BH72
Hi YeboMate! Thanks so much for your continued support of our channel and providing your insights and feedback!
What a great review! Dear Danny, could you please advise wireless headsets with ANC and NC on mic model specifically for remote simultaneous interpreting, mainly on Zoom, Teams? Simultaneous interpreters literally listen and speak at the same time, that's why I would appreciate it if you could advise a row of wireless headsets of your preferrence with decent ANC and decent noice cancelling mic combined in a single model.
Hi Marat Jiyenbaev! Thanks for watching and your question. Based on the models I shared in this video, I would select the EPOS Impact 1000 Series model that includes ANC speakers. I recently shared a blog that includes a matrix of the various EPOS Impact 1000 Series. calloneinc.com/discovering-the-epos-impact-1000-series-the-best-noise-canceling-mic-in-business-headsets/
thank you so much
You are so very welcome! Which headset/s do you think performed best?
This is exactly what I have needed! It is so hard to get an idea of how much sound is blocked while still allowing the mic to be clear. I am going to try the Poly Voyager 5200. Have you tried any with the removable mic?
Hi Tara, are you referring to boomless mic headsets like the Poly Voyager Surround 80 or EPOS Adapt 660 or headset like the Orosound Tilde Pro with removable mic boom?
Nice Video!!! Which one has the best sound quality for music?
Appreciate your feedback! If you are listening to music, the earbuds perform better than headsets (IMO):
- Jabra Evolve2 Buds
- Logitech Zone True Wireless Earbuds
- Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC
The EPOS Impact 1000, and Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex perform well also for listening to music.
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel!
Excellent review again Danny.
#1, EPOS impact 1000 for me. it completely removed noise and sounds fuller. it sounds like wired or USB mic :)
#2. Jabra engage 55 and JPL. removed the noise cleanly.
#3. Jabra 65 flex and Poly focus 2.
On EPOS impact 1000, wondering if there's a review on it outside on a windy condition. I recall Danny has done this at the rooftop of his office for Poly focus 2. maybe another one for epos impact ? :)
I thought I replied but I don't see it! Here's a TH-cam Shorts with the EPOS Impact 1000 at a Rest Area where there was traffic background noise and it was fairly windy. th-cam.com/users/shortsXEpRBTAP0WM

@@CallOneIncI don't have a particular wired headset in mind. Great video! Do you have a recommendation for a bone conducting headset that has the same or similar noise canceling capabilities as EPOS Impact 1000? I tried the Shokz OpenComm2 and it has too much noise for what i would be using them for. Thank you in advance
Note: I currently use no-name brand trucker headset I bought for $35 from Walmart that is excellent, but I'm getting ear fatigue because I use it so much
Hi JRPLAWOffice! I would like to understand your use case better. The challenge with bone conduction headsets is in noisy environments, the headset wearer has a hard time hearing the audio unless they wear earplugs. Please share your use case, including environment.
@CallOneInc Thank you for your response. I make a lot of calls speaking with potential customers and I handle a lot of day to day activities (driving running errands, walking in and out of the car to the store, etc.). I'm more concerned about noise canceling because customers get upset about dogs barking, babies crying, etc. What are your thoughts about the oleap Pilot? Thank you
Are you paired directly to your mobile phone via Bluetooth? Do you use other devices like a computer? When using your smartphone, making/taking calls, via your wireless network? Do you use applications like Teams, WhatsApp, Zoom, FaceTime, other to make calls?
@CallOneInc phone call directly from my cell phone using Bluetooth. I have Verizon cell phone service. I've been using this Walmart truckers headset for years and the connection and quality of the call is amazing. I'm just getting ear fatigue because it's constantly covering my ear
So Epos or yea link seem like the best for noise cancelling! I’m looking for a really good set as I have a 9 month old and I have to start working from home soon, which out of the two do you think would be best? Would be so awesome to do this test in a daycare! Lol
Great suggestion! I’ll see if I can locate a daycare that will let me test headsets! The EPOS Impact 1000 has the best mic I’ve tested and the Yealink is a strong contender. Ive got some marshall Iv headphones....was thinking connecting a 3.5mm cable with inbuilt mic..
.do you know any good external mics i can connect the is good for noise reduction?
Hi FJR, I'd like to understand the use case. Our channel focuses on professional-grade audio and video solutions designed for business communications and collaboration platforms from Microsoft, Zoom, Cisco, Avaya, 8x8, RingCentral, etc. I don't have much experience with external mics with 3.5mm connection.
If you could have any one of these headsets for free which do you pick?
Jabra Engage 75
Poly Focus 2
Jabra evolve 75 SE
Thanks, Love the videos!
Hi Albert, thanks for sharing your feedback. Appreciate it. The Poly Voyager Focus 2 and Jabra Evolve 75 SE are in the same category of UC Bluetooth headsets that support connectivity to computer and mobile phone and are compatible/certified for all major UC platforms and applications. The Jabra Engage 75 is a DECT Wireless headset designed to support connectivity to a desk phone, computer, and mobile devices. So my answer would be it depends on what my connectivity needs are. I primarily use a computer and mobile so I would have to pick between the Evolve 75 SE and Poly Voyager Focus 2. While both are great headsets, the Voyager Focus 2 is newer so I would pick it.
Hope this helps.
Does anyone have a recommendation for the best noise cancellation headsets for working from home that is compatible with TEAMs??
Hi Cindy, the best noise canceling mic I've tested is the EPOS Impact 1000 Series. They also have new EPOS Impact 700 and 800 Corded Series that have similar mic. And these are Teams Certified devices.
So if you have to have a wired headset but need to share a small space and you arent allowed to have noise in the background which is the best option. Nearly all work from home companies require everything to be wired.
Hi Theresa! Apologies for delayed response. We hosted an event in our Customer Experience Center so I've been tied up the last couple of days. This is tough. No headset mic blocks 100% of background noise. If you use a headset with a good noise canceling mic along with Noise Suppression features available from most UC platforms, it does a pretty good job. Barking dogs and screaming children are still tough. Check out this video where I test CORDED USB headsets in a noisy coffee shop. th-cam.com/video/B9XqgZqv330/w-d-xo.html

anything for over the ear? the on ears get very uncomfortable for me after a few hours
Hi Roger, what do you mean by over-the-ear? Some folks say over the ear when referring to over the ear hook style like a Poly Voyager 5200 www.calloneonline.com/Poly-Voyager-5200-UC-with-Charging-Case and some mean over-the-ear like circumaural style that envelopes your ears like the Poly Voyager Surround 80 UC www.calloneonline.com/HP-Poly-Surround-80-UC. Let me know and I can share my thoughts based on my tests or I can create a video if I haven't already.

Hi Zlatan, same response as before, I don't test these in gaming scenarios. Our channel focuses on enterprise grade audio and video solutions.
@@CallOneInc Its fine though, i went out and bought two new impact 1061 anc and they are completely insane for work purposes. Thank you for sharing your experience! That’s awesome! Have a great weekend!
Are all these headsets compatible for desk phones? 👀
It depends on the desk phone. Some of these models are compatible with select desk phones that support USB. If not, Jabra and HP Poly headsets have devices that allow you to connect these headsets to select desk phones. These headsets are UC Bluetooth headsets designed for computer and mobile use. There are purpose built headsets for desk phones. Again, it's dependent on the desk phone brand and model.
Just to confirm, none of these are relying on software like Zoom? I have the Poly C5520 and while using Zoom nothing breaks through and I mean nothing, but when I dial out using our dialing system (no noise suppression software built into that system) it seems like every background noise is heard. Anyone using Zoom and struggling must be sitting in a warzone. I believe most people's issue comes from systems that don't offer noise suppression built in and needing a headset with supreme capabilities
For this video, am using Windows 10 Camera App to record audio and video. Platforms and applications like Zoom and Microsoft Teams have a level a Noise Suppression enabled that helps to suppress background noise. I've created videos showcasing this. Here's an example th-cam.com/video/Qbi1800L7ic/w-d-xo.html
@@CallOneInc got it. So just to clarify, this video is just the mics on their own without any software assisting in noise suppression or anything like that?
Correct. Just the mics.
Anyone use the XM5s in noisy environments? Just not wanting a boom mic. Looking for a headset I can use for business and pleasure
I haven't tested the XM5's but I test the XM4's and I had challenges when paired to my laptop to make/take audio calls and join meetings via Teams, Zoom, 8x8, etc. Here's a video I did th-cam.com/video/_Dk5wmX1zw0/w-d-xo.html
The mic transmit performance was not as good compared to business-grade solutions that are certified for leading UC platforms and applications. However, I'm just one person. Perhaps others had a different experience.
What about the BOSE 700? No boom mic but the voice pickup is much better than the SONY
I really hate I found this after I purchased the blue parrot 450 headset 😢
The BlueParrott headsets are purpose built for commercial truck drivers. They have solid noise canceling mics for use while driving in noisy semi-trucks. These headsets are designed for office, remote and hybrid workers utilizing collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom on their laptops and smartphones. What’s your use case?
Did you connect these headphones to your iPhone while testing the mics?
For this video, I am connected to my computer running Windows 11. I used the included dongle with each of the headsets that has one.
What’s the best earbuds in a coffee shop?
Personally, I don’t recommend earbuds in loud coffee shops for voice calls. Based on my tests, the Logitech Zone True Wireless performed well compared to Jabra Evolve2 Buds, Poly Voyager Free 60 and Apple AirPods Pro.
The iPhone mics lol
Thanks for watching and supporting our channel!

Our channel focuses on professional-grade audio and video solutions for SMBs, mid to large enterprises, and contact centers using UC and collaboration platforms and applications from Microsoft, Zoom, Genesys, AWS, Cisco, Avaya, RingCentral, 8x8, etc. However, recently I have been received more requests for circumaural headsets. I have done comparisons years ago when Bose entered the UC space with their Bose 700 UC.
