- In this video I install an automatic headlight switch in my mk5 polo 6r. Hope you all enjoy :)

Hey! Great video, for future or anyone else with the stuck issue, you can push it in and turn like you did, but instead of pulling it on it, push it from the back through the end dash hole 👍
7:00 mine was the same as this, u can fix it by cutting a cable and it turns the main lights off and just keeps only the day time lights on when the lights are selected to be off

@Gabasto Do you know wich cabel to cut. Super anoying after installing this switch lights always stay on. Cant turn them of while car is one 🙈

That would be perfect :) So anoying that i cant turn of lights or set them to park lights after changing light switch. The god thing about new switch is that it turns off light when i turn of car. So the battery dont go flat if i forget to turn of lights. Have happend to me couple of times 🙈
Hi mate was wondering litrally just installed mine and when I unlock the car I get a flash that’s it they don’t stay on I dunno weather it’s because I have the vland rear and front headlights if you have any idea please tell me thanks
Mine do the same thing, I haven't looked into it properly yet but when I do if I find a way to fix that I'll let you know. I'll probs make a video about it also.
Hi mate I have a 2010 polo 1.2l I was wondering if most of the stuff you have installed would fit mine like it fits yours

You really did not get how the mechanism works to put it out and back in within 5 secs without destroying it completely, right?
Sometimes the mechanism just randomly breaks like how mine was so you can't take it out normally so you have to pretty much destroy it to get it out, tbf it's the first thing I talk about in the beginning of the video 🤣
The light stays on, and when I switch it to off, it stays on
Did you manage to get the coming home feature on this unit? Does the side lights only option still work?
Sorry for the late reply, I haven't got the coming home feature to work yet, I'm going to wait until I can get a laptop and get vcds and try get it working with that.
Side lights only still works but only when the car is off ( also something that I want to fix with vcds )
@@RCS_716 thank you for your reply mate. I am trying to see if i will manage to get the function without VCD if i come to a solution i will post it in here 👍🏼

Does the coming home feature not come built in to the unit
It's supposed to but I can't seem to get it to work, I'm going to mess about with it some more and see if I can eventually figure it out
@@RCS_716 If you still haven't fixed it, you can get it coded with a VagCom coder. Pretty easy to use tool and very useful. Can code a whole lot of stuff with it :)

I haven't checked the fogs lights to be honest, I'll check them tomorrow and let you know
@@RCS_716 mine don’t seem to be working on the one I have. Only noticed when I upgraded the bulbs gonna check properly over weekend when I have some time

I bought it on amazon but the seller I bought it from doesn't have it listed up anymore
bro what are u doing, no way u used a flat head to get it out, if u push it in the middle and then push from behind the unit it comes out
I did do that and many other things but it wouldn't come out because the mechanism was broken so the little latches that should retract wouldn't retract inwards like they should. Only choice to get it out was to break it like I did in the video.
@@RCS_716 don't worry man, this is a very well known problem on the polo 6R and other people are talking about it on forums as well. Their only solution was like yours, completely destroy it, though I haven't dared yet to do that lol
I had put this video off for months because I really didn't want to break it 🤣 so I know how you feel
If I was doing this again I would use a hole saw drill bit ( after disconnecting the connection at the back ) to drill out the insides, that way it would be a clean cut and you wouldn't mess up the edges like I did lol.

It seems like some polo's it works perfectly and some need a bit of coding to get it working 100% ( like mine )
I haven't coded mine yet but when I do ill post about it. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear.

You'll have to use VCDS, I haven't done it yet so I can't explain how to do it but once I get a laptop and vcds I'll be able to get it sorted and explain how to do it
@@RCS_716 Thanks a lot! You've been a great help. I'll head to the auto repair shop on Monday. I thought my issue was with the light switch I bought, but it turned out to be something completely different
