What does a Person do when the Parish has only 2 Priests? 1 Priest is elderly and sick and the other Priest has customs and language problems? I am partially handicapped and can't go from Parish to Parish, please pray for me and that Jesus will help me find a special great Priest who can be my Confessor. ❤ Thankyou for this enlightening advice. God bless you abundantly 🙏🕊💕
The most important thing is to go to confession. I personally go all over the place. The parish / church I go has only one priest. Sometimes he is not available for confessions on Saturdays from 3 to 5pm. Thankfully where I live we have a lot of Catholic churches so, it is not excuse for me to not go to confession. I have a parish like 5 blocks away from me but I prayer to drive 4 miles away from me. God bless you.
Make an act of contrition as soon as you commit any sin and then try to get to confession asap. If not don’t be afraid to ask a priest to come visit you. He may not be able to come immediately but I’m sure he’ll be able to work something out.
@@donboscostories careful with stuff like that with the scrupulous. Scrupulously is a form of ocd and saying that prayer will become a ritual. Maybe one Act of contrition in the evening, that's it.
St. Pope John Paul II went to confession weekly, and sometimes more often, including before major feast days and liturgical seasons. He believed that frequent confession was necessary for personal holiness, and he encouraged young people to confess often to help them mature faster. Frequent confession is a spiritual practice for many Christians, including Catholics, Lutherans, and Anglicans. Canon law and the teachings of past popes recommend confessing between once a month and once a week.
I have scrupulosity and OCD and I can tell you, it is horrible. I am lucky if I can receive Holy Communion once a month. Sometimes, I can go months without receiving, and I go to Holy Mass at least once a week (on Sundays).
If you haven’t already, get a spiritual director/confessor and listen to everything they say. If they give orders like “receive communion every week unless xyz” follow it, etc.
I do struggled with my 3 deadly sins that I committed ( The very first deadly sin was in March 1997, second, March 1999, third, May 2003 ) against God and my soul. I have confessed these 3 deadly sins. When I committed these 3 sins I did not even know that they are deadly sins against God. I thought that they were just part of life. By the grace of God now I am 100% sure that they are deadly sins against God. I am so, so,so grateful that I did not die before confessing these 3 sins because I could have ended in hell if I did not confess or if repented in my last breathe I could end up in purgatory for 500 years. I know that God has forgiven me but the remorse eats me alive. I am praying to God to help me healed from these 3 wounds I caused and I am guilty of it. Deo gratias. Sometimes we go through life with some things that did happen for a reason and to open our eyes and heart to see and witness the mercy of God. Viva Cristo Rey.
I never had a regular confessor but have gotten good advice on this from different priests. One said never confess sins from the past unless you deliberately concealed them. Don't worry about if you explained your sin properly. If the priest didn't understand, he would have asked you to clarify. Also never confess doubtful sins. He said if you are trying to figure out if there is doubt, "cross your fingers" and forget about it (don't confess it) and leave it to God. Another priest said if you are trying to determine whether or not you committed a mortal sin, you have one chance to make a decision yea or nay and stick with it. No going back and thinking about it in a different way.
My understanding is that if you remember mortal sins from the past and they have not previously been confessed, you should confess them. If you had previously forgotten to confess them, they would still have been forgiven in subsequent confession, however once remembered, they must be confessed.
@@Planechant2 Yeah, that would be the standard rule for the majority. The old moral theology book by Rev. Heribert Jone & Rev. Urban Adelman which is really a guide for confessors has a section on scrupulosity and it says that scrupulous penitents should be told to never mention anything before their last valid confession. In other words, the instructions are different depending on where the penitent falls on the spectrum.
Why not just confess something if in doubt? that way it's covered. Also even if something is confessed you will receive the grace anyway. I would never advice to cross your fingers and hope for the best. My advice to anyone who is wanting advice is to look to the saints. I appreciate what it is your are saying
I agree with this. Weekly confession has prevented me from committing mortal sins but I often fall into venial sins due to my natural temperament and defects. The Sacrament of Reconciliation has been one of the most life-changing experiences in my life and I take advantage of it now whenever I can. It's a really good medicine for me.
Ask the Holy Spirit for help in those areas and if you fall don't panic the fact that you see it as a sin means you're still under God's grace... He knows our tendencies. He told St. Faustina that the graver the sin the wider is his mercy and that they are the first ones who gain his mercy. He is always willing to give the Fount of mercy is wide, but so should I trust. He told St. Faustina that our lack of trust hurts him gravely so trust and abandon yourself that your Father in heaven will see you through right to your last day you WILL see Him He is your dad he loves you. You're not lifting him up with good behaviour he lifts you up with grace ❤ have faith and trust. He's got you !
I did not struggle with scrupulosity because I totally trust God and everything, and he is so loving and so forgiving!! he loves it that you just came into the confessional, and it warms his heart already!! just look at the divine mercy picture of Jesus, those rays of love and compassion flowing from his heart… be very confident, my confessors I know how much it took for you just to come into the confessional booth… know that when you leave this booth, your sins are all forgiven!! and be like Mary Madeline when Jesus said… neither I condemn you at all now go and sin no more!
From what I remember it's when you confess everything you can remember throughout your life. It's usually done when you're going through significant life changes like entering religious life for example.
It’s like a normal confession but over a longer period of time. Usually your first one will be over your whole life and subsequent ones will be since last General confession. Check out our video on the topic from a couple weeks ago.
Thank you for this video on scrupulosity and confession. What is the difference between a general confession and a confession of a person who hasn't gone to confession in ten years? Should one make an appointment with a priest in either of these situations?
We did a video on general confessions a couple weeks ago. A general confession is a confession over your whole life or a certain period of your life. If someone hasn’t been to confession in 10 years they might just make a general confession if they can’t remember what they said or didn’t say since last confession. We have a playlist on confession. Highly recommend.
@donboscostories Thank you for the explanation and the tip about the confession series playlist. I would like to catch up on what I missed. It's a bad combo: scrupulosity and years since confession.
I disagree with this. I prefer my routine of weekly confusion. It really works for me. I notice that sticking to my confession once a week contributes greatly to my spiritual life. I feel that I am given more graces, I am kinder and I am more capable of holding my temper. Our Lady through a private revelation to Fr.Gobbi rcommemded going to confession once a week. A couple of priests discouraged me from doing this and it has been one of the most destructive consequences in my spiritual life. Pope John Paul II confessed weekly.

True :(

Then, he should never take his phone into the confessional. Seeing as all is being listened to and kept in a data base to use against us.

I think vonfession to a priest is the most misguided devotion.everyone should confess thier sins only to god.this doctrine is unbiblical and false
