Catholic priest explains: The Reign of Animals? (I saw a Chihuahua in a pink stroller in LA...) - th-cam.com/video/cK2-M-uSiR4/w-d-xo.html
Many people don't realize that there is a difference between being nice and being kind. Jesus was kind, but not always "a nice guy.'.
So true.
Only kindness matters, eh?
Please tell me you’re in kindergarten. Because good lord this comment was so stupid and basic, but you stated it like it was insightful, deep and useful.
He was kind but bold
Respectfully but truthful
Serious yet playful.
Our beloved Lord Merry Christmas to you all!
@dancinglight8411 it's actually a distinction we need to make nowadays.
As an introverted curmudgeon, who would rather spend the day praying and finding solutions to problems, than making small talk with acquaintances, this gives me great consolation, haha.
...greetings!..from one curmdgeon to another...iannuzzi's thoughts on character vs virtue are food for thought...i must chew them for days before swallowing but, they resonate like truth seems to do...blessings on you n yours curmudgeon!
I can relate. It is a struggle for me, because I think God wants us to engage with others to have a positive influence. But, small talk is indeed exhausting. I can barely pull it off for more than a day at a time with people. I need to get away into silence.
@@joegill4068 Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum , in these turbulent times.
@@mia795 as the prophet Elijah discovered, the Lord was not to be found in the wind, earthquake or fire, but rather in the “whistling of a gentle air”.
Aversion to small talk might not be rooted in the practice itself, but rather in the lack of charity for the fellow interlocutor.
A symptom would be a preference to focus solely on one’s mental energy elsewhere. In other words, you’d rather do what you’d want to do instead of listening to another person telling you how their day went.
This line of thinking is akin to gluttony and is a form of intellectual elitism.
If you’re honest with yourself, you just don’t care about the people around you enough to put the time and energy into what they have to offer as in your mind it lacks value.
Imagine treating young children in such a way. I know this first hand through my experiences as a child. It was incredibly hurtful.
Moreover, shouldn’t God or even the saints be bored of our low IQ mumblings, yet they listen to us always with patience and love. Shouldn’t that then be our aim to love our neighbors as ourselves?
Just some food for thought. God Bless.
I have noticed the more I pray the less nice I become. Oddly though I do feel like I am doing more good because I am not lying to people to make them feel good and therefore feel like I have more energy to take care of myself and others who really need help.
That is a sign that you are going in the wrong direction. We are supposed to grow in the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Well, assuming you're not a great saint like e.g. Mother Theresa, or at least not yet, that's rather a sign that the weaknesses and *vices* of your nature start to show up. Yes, these things may show up from prayer, because you're entering into spiritual fight and the vices inside your heart go out (or call it, manifest themselves what spirits have been guarding your passions within your heart or what weakness make you prone to these vices).
Meekness, gentleness, understanding, compassion - these are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. It's not at all about 'being nice', but it's even deeper. Being nice is superficial, it's about pleasing people for their approval. The intention is wrong. It should be about being *gentle* and *kind* to people because you suffer them for the love God (yes, I used the term suffer them, because some people's presence or behavior we have to suffer through...).
For example, many writers talking about imitating Virgin Mary speak about her sweetness, and about being sweet like honey towards other people. Again, that's not about being superficially nice, it's supposed to be as a result of the love of God and charity: willing the good of the neighbor.
@@joane24 I actually am more gentle and kind in many ways, however I no longer lie to make them feel better about themselves. Either way, thanks for the comment. Bye.
Yes that is certainly progress, if people imagine you to be a wonderful, nice and altogether lovely person, they have put you on a pedestal and of course you end up in a situation where they are going to be mightily disappointed.
It's like a man who has been on one date with a woman going around saying what a wonderful person she is. A month later he is no longer dating her.
@@michaelanthony4750 Perhaps it was then my misunderstanding of what you meant in the first post. Lying to make other feel better about themselves was definitely a vice, it sounds like people pleasing behavior. So the intentions of being nice in such a case is not really for the sake of others, it's to gain something for oneself, e.g. to be liked or accepted or maybe something else I can't think of at the moment.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
A Deliverance Prayer
By the power of the Precious Blood, by the Name of Jesus and by the intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Michael the Archangel, all Holy Angels and Saints. I command the demon of (state the problem youre having) to stop afflicting me, my ancestor, my family, my cherished loved ones, my descendants, and all members of the Catholic Church, and go to the foot of the cross to receive your sentence. Amen
I fell into idolatry, worshipping a contourfeit virgin mary, I'm willing to bet it's an air or water spirit. Then I got greedy and got fixated on money and my lack of it, and ended up worshipping a false God who I thought was God, but just a false counterfeit whos fooling alot of these self proclaimed christian prophets/mediums online so this would've been a effective prayer in the beginning of my journey but it's a Lil too late for that right now, only Jesus can help me now.
Again sorry everybody.
What St Teresa said is so true, some people need to be told things slowly and gently whilst others respond better to a good shaking up.
St Teresa of Lisieux herself was described by her family as grumpy, and had a bit of a temper at times, when she was a child.
I personally respond well to people humouring me if I'm having a hard time. My best friend whom i have known since i was five years old humours people and that's what i love about her. But I noticed a couple of people over the years mistaking it for been laughed at.
Anyway its good to take the time to get to know people because it takes all sorts of characters to make the world go round.
I told God that I am very fragile, so he sure is gentle to me. But those pain he have for me are sure painful but he took care of it 99%.
After I had a personal encounter with God, I changed. I now had the strength & courage to say what I feel & what I think.. Many find it uncomfortable because the world is used to superficial conversation & relationships.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Having social skills is important, and it's humble to admit that we have weak social skills - inability to make friends. Imagine praying to Jesus, "Lord, help me to make friends because you know my social skills are weak." Wow! what a remarkable prayer that is. Invite God into your weakness, and cry out to Him for help. Use your weaknesses as an opportunity to be close to Jesus. Don't just sit there and feel sorry for yourself - you know you have a weakness in social skills, it's your choice to improve yourself or to just sit there and do nothing about it.
❤
Well some people like solitude from all madness...
NICE vs enabler, big difference!!!!
Yes we can pray for all that but its not necessarily that God will answer our prayers exactly as we pray rather He answer according to His will. In my case, i prayed this prayer but God decided to work on my interior life, like teaching me how ro be more patient with people, or not to be concious or have anxiety that i dont have friends but to be at peace with myself that wether or not He blesses me with friends He is still God, i just as well enjoy my own company..
Your goal
is to make friends with Jesus, then you have enough social skills if you can keep that relationship till the end.
Can't begin to tell you what this did for me. Thank you. "Stubborn for God." I love that. And "Nice is not a Christian virtue." ❤🔥
we should all probably make a t-shirt "Stubborn for God".
@@ourspiritualwarfareseries So, there is a bumper sticker that says, "Jesus, save me from your followers." Maybe we should create one that says, "Jesus, save your followers from me" for aspiring Saints, lol.
Those who think that they are „stubborn for God” should mind if they are not „stubborn for their own idea of God” by any chance. St Faustina spoke to Jesus directly, yet she never imposed her will in anything, but always acted with permission of her confessor. What the God wants to happen - he will make it happen regardless and He doesn’t need us to possess some unpleasant traits of character for the matter.
Excellent! Father Iannuzzi has a certain grace to make theology understandable.
been learning so much from him for the past two years, and glad to learn these things alongside all of you, James.
So well said ❤

God bless the Saints.
Very important points brought up in the video. But for the people, it must be noted that there is no excuse to being unkind and uncharitable. We are always called to be loving, gentle and humble in all of our interactions with others, regardless of how we might feel about them or the topic.
I feel so relieved listening to this. 😅
May God Bless all, and all have a very Blessed Christmas!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Robert!
Thank you to the Blessed Mother and my guardian angel for lead me to this clip. I am far from being a Saint, but I pray to God frequently to make my children and I be saints. I enjoy being lonely, because that is when I understand the love of God. Yes, people around me don’t like to talk to me, less and less because I talk about God and the saints too much. Almost everything subject I talk about, I must quote something about God. I guess the topic about God bores them out.
I agree with the author of this clip: Our life should surround God.
Of course I pray about people I promise to pray and people around me.
You are the kind that found the light and wants everybody to look at too.👍
Thank you for this video. I always get criticized for being so "hard" in my ways. In no way am I implying I'm a saint, but at least these helps me believe I might be a saint in the making. Lord Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.
Easiest way to make sure youre not a saint is to say your believe yourself to be a saint in the making. No saint would say this.
@@MangyPL technically everyone on earth is a saint in the making, because we all have the potential now through Christ. Acknowledging this is just having hope and confidence in God. Sitting around thinking you're already a saint and you don't need to do anything at all ...that is different.
@MangyPL Biblically we are all called to become saints and holy like Jesus. Of course we are saints in the making. It's not pride, it's all about letting the Lord sanctify you. It's not me that lives, but Christ in me. The devil doesn't want us to try and become saints, he wants us to remain baby Christians and never progress further in the faith.
@@MangyPL No saint would ever make the claim that he/ she is unforgivable for that would make them guilty of denial of the Spirit. The one unforgivable sin. The sin of Judas.
Father Iannuzzi is very humble and wise.
you have no idea how comforting this video is, I WILL NEVER COMPROMISE, I MUST NOT; JESUS PLSE HELP ME I WILL ALWAYS BE BY YOUR SIDE!!
I miss my great grandmother. My mother would talk down about her being "judgemental". Now at 29 with an estimated relationship to my own mother WHILE living with her, i recognize that my mother's judgement is shallow
Amen ❤✝️☦️📿
Saints who had character flaws but were very holy in virtue. I want to know more about this.
Well said! Well said. Thank you, Father.
I listen to this and such joy arises. He loves me so much . He gave me all I need ..including stubbornness for His glory .
So it is for all of us .
I also am stubborn for JESUS,when my conversion (still at it) I would tell people when they question me, I would say i am stubborn for JESUS cause I think they couldn’t see that I was trying to change my ways cause they still had their ways which didn’t agree with me 😂 well what can I say but try harder until I get it and all for the glory of my LORD JESUS CHRIST 🙏
Excellent! That stubborn member of your family or friend group may be the saint you were blessed to know 😊😇
😂❤
Yes I believe we will be very surprised when we get to heaven and one of the people greeting us there will be some person we once knew who had erudite language and regularly issued veiled insults. 😅
I'm serious though!
This was great content @everything Catholic. One of the best 6 minutes to differentiate character and virtues!
"When love of God and love of neighbor met, sometimes it's a cross. Our neighbors can be crosses that lead us to God. "
We lead each other to God. Beautiful ❤❤❤
Jean Pierre de Caussade wrote that some of the most virtuous souls live in total obscurity here on Earth, their greatness known only to God. They were born to shine in Heaven. That is why you need to pay extra attention if someone annoys you or disgusts you, they may not be what they appear.
Sometimes the Lord operates my mouth and At the start I was a people pleaser, and would feel uneasy , until he taught me the truth cuts like a sword , sometimes you where speaking to the demonic being behind that person. God Bless. xxx
Now I understand people, very true thanks Father Iannuzi for this explanation.
There are times when I pray for a change in my character. Seems like the Lord does not answer that prayer, but rather, asks me to aim those characteristics in the right direction. Nice to hear this put a different way.
They are veryyyy veryyyyyy lovely, it burns for our carnal and imperfect soul until we reach heaven once and for all.
Thank you so much. I think I can sleep better now.
Great video today. Fr. I puts things in a way for all to grasp and understand.
"Jesus wasn't nice"... best qoute of the day.
Yes very true,Being NICE vs being an enabler, big difference!!!!
This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing. Such wisdom.
Just a wonderful understanding of the lives of the saints, very encouraging.
Love this, very enlightening 🙏
The more I read about Saint Bernadette, the more I love and respect her. I also believe that she was very approachable due to her young age. Saint Bernadette was not canonized by the Catholic Church because she claimed to have seen The Blessed Virgin, but because she was humble in her mission and valiant under trial.
A very encouraging word. Thank you!
That was so edifying thank you and God bless
May God bless you too brother!
It if we know to have a certain dislikable character we must also try our best to change or control it.
This is also being humble and meek at heart like Our Lord Jesus Christ taught.
i really needed to hear this.
❤
Wow it's like this Man is speaking wholely to me. I truly needed to hear this early morning.
Great timing here as well. Thank you, Everything Catholic, for posting.
I've been following your videos for some time and I must say the words of these priests have given me so much clarity and hope. God bless you and help you continue the good work!
glad you're learning a lot Rose. May God bless you too, and merry Christmas to you and your family!
Holyness is loving without boundaries and expecting to Jesus to ressurect us! in the earth.
Because we die everyday, and love kills us. And jesus ressurect us in spirit and flesh so we can emmm be happy to God! 🌼
FANTASTIC ! 🙏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
My advice to everyone for the end of 2024 is to read book Your Life Your Game by Keezano🙌🏼I’ve read it, and it truly changed my life. It beautifully shows how connecting with God and your inner self can lead to spiritual growth and family/career success. A must-read..
Self help books are useless.
St. John of God and Moses the Black pray for us!
Hallelujah! Thank You! Amen. ❤
God reward you for posting this. It is wonderfully Providential.
Thank you 💞🙏💞Thank you father 💞🙏💞I really needed to hear this today 😭💔😭

Absolutely excellent perspective and most helpful for a fool like myself. God bless you, Fr. Thank you.
Excellent as always. Never knew this distinction. Amazing theology. Ave Maria!

Charitable love is our bottom line. The Charitable love Christ on the Cross has for you and I is our example. Love and serve is our job. We are to lay down our lives for the sake of charitable love
Thank you, ❤
Thank you so much for compiling such awesome videos!!! God bless you. My prayers accompany you with gratitude!
Thank you for this word, Father. This was very helpful and encouraging.
Excellent, thank you
That was great!
You have a gift of explaining abstract and difficult concepts and breaking down so it is better understood. It’s like puréeing the meat into milk, like St. Paul talks about 1 COR 3:2. TY Padre.
James 4:11
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law.
And those that judge the law judge the one who made it and those that judge the law sit in judgment on it.

“The bible does not says that Jesus is nice” quote
Very interesting commentary from Father. Thanks for this video. God bless you, too.
Stupendous. Loved it. So original and consoling.
Its simple, the saints are jesus. And jesus is the christ. so therefore we are like... mmm from the kingdom, and only hope for God! and we know that you all and me are imperfect but not without christ, because he makes everything perfect.
Also the love of Jesus is freedom for our souls that are misunderstood by this temporal life.
Im a mystic. 💔
The mystic of broken hearts by my stuborness 🐍
Once you start looking at people through the eyes of G_d, it changes everything.
Our neighbors definitely lead us to our crosses.
I met Mother Teresa once, I expected humility, or other-worldli-ness...what I saw was WILL
If someone is determined for God's will to be done, then their focus is on Him. That is not a lack of humility, but rather the opposite.
I like what this priest says, but the problem is sometimes he doesn’t define the terms he uses. For most people that word character means the person‘s moral actions and his or her virtues. He’s defining character the way most of us would define someone’s personality or disposition. For example, you can be stubborn, but some people are stubborn and mean, and other people are stubborn but to do good and they don’t bully. I wish he would define his terms because he knows so much.
🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
The Saints are fascinating....
Wow great video.
Christ actually warns us against being too good.
Attacks from within.
NOICE!!!
Today was the Superbowl and i obviously didn't watch grown men chase a ball , no i listened to analysis of gospels and other scripture as well this channel...i wasn't always like this i was popular at one point i was homeless on drugs and on less drugs now but i hate it but the pharmaceuticals gave me seizures for yrs i was an alcoholic from 7th grade til 22 than by 26 hardly would drink at all my point is been many things i used to always have a gf as i was like married but she seen i liked being a dad more than just my time w her and then i worked 3 jobs had a 3.7 gpa going to transfer to law school but that didn't happen..
Also the lord say, i have not bring peace but a sword, is necessarry to be aknowledge our uniqueness to serve god, bring forth evil to be purified and Make our father smile in the dunamic and eternal jigsaw puzzle 🧩 that god created for the glory of his only son! Jesus! Why is it to hard to understand to you people?!!

This was very profound, thank you Father Joseph ❤️ ❤❤❤
Oh my! Thank you for this. I am very patient and prudent, too prudent which is not good, either; however, I get too a RABID point when I clearly hear people talking in the “mass of always,” aka traditional HOLY mass. There are people who don’t know better but I have a problem with those who DO know better. It’s far worse when it’s those people who are active helpers in the church community. I am appalled at the parents who entertain their kids talking during mass instead of teaching through example and letting them observe. There is a time to ask questions and a time to respond. All they are teaching their children is lack of courtesy (charity) by giving into their need for instant gratification. What bothers me is not only the lack of charity towards neighbor but far worse…lack of respect, reverence, honor, GRATITUDE AND LOVE for God in that mass that CASCADES a MONSOON of Graces. I usually stay quiet but lately I can’t, anymore. When I tell them to STOP their talking the person actually tries to tell me why they are talking. I don’t entertain the argument they are trying to pull me into. To my amazement, they actually stop talking completely. I went to confession because I thought I was wrong. I’m not because it was a reaction I cannot hold in anymore that stems for my incredible gratitude and love for God. I don’t expect people to have that feeling or understand but I do expect courtesy for neighbor. The talking during a mass is complete disregard for those around them to feed their own vain pride. I also find something so wrong with taking pictures especially at the time of consecration. It’s like taking pictures of Jesus as some sort of Disney on ice spectacle or a mockery of Jesus and Blessed Mother being raised on the cross. This tells me they don’t really believe. It’s usually by those who really know better. I can’t even look at the action of raising the phone while the Holy mass is going on. There is something so wrong with this. I can’t do anything about that. It’s not like I want to say anything in the first place. But lately I have these instances that I can’t with the talking which gets louder as the choir chants PRAYERS. Obviously, the people who know better don’t fathom that it’s not just a Protestant song. The chants are actual prayer verses from the Holy Bible, the Word of God
That's a situation where you need to go to the priest and ask him why he allows all these disruptions during the mass. Your heart is in the right place but aimed in the wrong direction, bring it to the boss (the priest). A good priest appreciates a genuine rebuke.
Moh’s hardness scale, etc, only for people; shows up clearly in the rock tumbler of life.
Padre Pio wasn't people's pleaser 😊
