      I can relate. It is a struggle for me, because I think God wants us to engage with others to have a positive influence. But, small talk is indeed exhausting. I can barely pull it off for more than a day at a time with people. I need to get away into silence.

    • @bobnas
      @bobnas หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Aversion to small talk might not be rooted in the practice itself, but rather in the lack of charity for the fellow interlocutor.
      A symptom would be a preference to focus solely on one’s mental energy elsewhere. In other words, you’d rather do what you’d want to do instead of listening to another person telling you how their day went.
      This line of thinking is akin to gluttony and is a form of intellectual elitism.
      If you’re honest with yourself, you just don’t care about the people around you enough to put the time and energy into what they have to offer as in your mind it lacks value.
      Imagine treating young children in such a way. I know this first hand through my experiences as a child. It was incredibly hurtful.
      Moreover, shouldn’t God or even the saints be bored of our low IQ mumblings, yet they listen to us always with patience and love. Shouldn’t that then be our aim to love our neighbors as ourselves?
      Just some food for thought. God Bless.

    I have noticed the more I pray the less nice I become. Oddly though I do feel like I am doing more good because I am not lying to people to make them feel good and therefore feel like I have more energy to take care of myself and others who really need help.

      That is a sign that you are going in the wrong direction. We are supposed to grow in the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

    • @joane24
      @joane24 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      Well, assuming you're not a great saint like e.g. Mother Theresa, or at least not yet, that's rather a sign that the weaknesses and *vices* of your nature start to show up. Yes, these things may show up from prayer, because you're entering into spiritual fight and the vices inside your heart go out (or call it, manifest themselves what spirits have been guarding your passions within your heart or what weakness make you prone to these vices).
      Meekness, gentleness, understanding, compassion - these are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. It's not at all about 'being nice', but it's even deeper. Being nice is superficial, it's about pleasing people for their approval. The intention is wrong. It should be about being *gentle* and *kind* to people because you suffer them for the love God (yes, I used the term suffer them, because some people's presence or behavior we have to suffer through...).
      For example, many writers talking about imitating Virgin Mary speak about her sweetness, and about being sweet like honey towards other people. Again, that's not about being superficially nice, it's supposed to be as a result of the love of God and charity: willing the good of the neighbor.

    • @michaelanthony4750
      @michaelanthony4750 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      @@joane24 I actually am more gentle and kind in many ways, however I no longer lie to make them feel better about themselves. Either way, thanks for the comment. Bye.

    • @outoforbit00
      @outoforbit00 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes that is certainly progress, if people imagine you to be a wonderful, nice and altogether lovely person, they have put you on a pedestal and of course you end up in a situation where they are going to be mightily disappointed.
      It's like a man who has been on one date with a woman going around saying what a wonderful person she is. A month later he is no longer dating her.

    • @joane24
      @joane24 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@michaelanthony4750 Perhaps it was then my misunderstanding of what you meant in the first post. Lying to make other feel better about themselves was definitely a vice, it sounds like people pleasing behavior. So the intentions of being nice in such a case is not really for the sake of others, it's to gain something for oneself, e.g. to be liked or accepted or maybe something else I can't think of at the moment.

Then I got greedy and got fixated on money and my lack of it, and ended up worshipping a false God who I thought was God, but just a false counterfeit whos fooling alot of these self proclaimed christian prophets/mediums online so this would've been a effective prayer in the beginning of my journey but it's a Lil too late for that right now, only Jesus can help me now.

    What St Teresa said is so true, some people need to be told things slowly and gently whilst others respond better to a good shaking up.
    St Teresa of Lisieux herself was described by her family as grumpy, and had a bit of a temper at times, when she was a child.
    I personally respond well to people humouring me if I'm having a hard time. My best friend whom i have known since i was five years old humours people and that's what i love about her. But I noticed a couple of people over the years mistaking it for been laughed at.
    Anyway its good to take the time to get to know people because it takes all sorts of characters to make the world go round.

    Having social skills is important, and it's humble to admit that we have weak social skills - inability to make friends. Imagine praying to Jesus, "Lord, help me to make friends because you know my social skills are weak." Wow! what a remarkable prayer that is. Invite God into your weakness, and cry out to Him for help. Use your weaknesses as an opportunity to be close to Jesus. Don't just sit there and feel sorry for yourself - you know you have a weakness in social skills, it's your choice to improve yourself or to just sit there and do nothing about it.

      Those who think that they are „stubborn for God” should mind if they are not „stubborn for their own idea of God” by any chance. St Faustina spoke to Jesus directly, yet she never imposed her will in anything, but always acted with permission of her confessor. What the God wants to happen - he will make it happen regardless and He doesn’t need us to possess some unpleasant traits of character for the matter.

I enjoy being lonely, because that is when I understand the love of God. Yes, people around me don’t like to talk to me, less and less because I talk about God and the saints too much. Almost everything subject I talk about, I must quote something about God. I guess the topic about God bores them out.

    You have a gift of explaining abstract and difficult concepts and breaking down so it is better understood. It’s like puréeing the meat into milk, like St. Paul talks about 1 COR 3:2. TY Padre.

    Its simple, the saints are jesus. And jesus is the christ. so therefore we are like... mmm from the kingdom, and only hope for God! and we know that you all and me are imperfect but not without christ, because he makes everything perfect.
    Also the love of Jesus is freedom for our souls that are misunderstood by this temporal life.

    I like what this priest says, but the problem is sometimes he doesn’t define the terms he uses. For most people that word character means the person‘s moral actions and his or her virtues. He’s defining character the way most of us would define someone’s personality or disposition. For example, you can be stubborn, but some people are stubborn and mean, and other people are stubborn but to do good and they don’t bully. I wish he would define his terms because he knows so much.

    Oh my! Thank you for this. I am very patient and prudent, too prudent which is not good, either; however, I get too a RABID point when I clearly hear people talking in the “mass of always,” aka traditional HOLY mass. There are people who don’t know better but I have a problem with those who DO know better. It’s far worse when it’s those people who are active helpers in the church community. I am appalled at the parents who entertain their kids talking during mass instead of teaching through example and letting them observe. There is a time to ask questions and a time to respond. All they are teaching their children is lack of courtesy (charity) by giving into their need for instant gratification. What bothers me is not only the lack of charity towards neighbor but far worse…lack of respect, reverence, honor, GRATITUDE AND LOVE for God in that mass that CASCADES a MONSOON of Graces. I usually stay quiet but lately I can’t, anymore. When I tell them to STOP their talking the person actually tries to tell me why they are talking. I don’t entertain the argument they are trying to pull me into. To my amazement, they actually stop talking completely. I went to confession because I thought I was wrong. I’m not because it was a reaction I cannot hold in anymore that stems for my incredible gratitude and love for God. I don’t expect people to have that feeling or understand but I do expect courtesy for neighbor. The talking during a mass is complete disregard for those around them to feed their own vain pride. I also find something so wrong with taking pictures especially at the time of consecration. It’s like taking pictures of Jesus as some sort of Disney on ice spectacle or a mockery of Jesus and Blessed Mother being raised on the cross. This tells me they don’t really believe. It’s usually by those who really know better. I can’t even look at the action of raising the phone while the Holy mass is going on. There is something so wrong with this. I can’t do anything about that. It’s not like I want to say anything in the first place. But lately I have these instances that I can’t with the talking which gets louder as the choir chants PRAYERS. Obviously, the people who know better don’t fathom that it’s not just a Protestant song. The chants are actual prayer verses from the Holy Bible, the Word of God

      That's a situation where you need to go to the priest and ask him why he allows all these disruptions during the mass. Your heart is in the right place but aimed in the wrong direction, bring it to the boss (the priest). A good priest appreciates a genuine rebuke.
