I hope AC Evo also thought deeply about how to develop and maintain the physics for all the cars. Yes you need real data and your high level simracing experience will be very helpful. But the next step is making the *right* changes to parameters or models. The link between driver and vehicle dynamics I've found very hard to make. And since they have lots of cars, probably with tuning options on some, the number of "effective cars" is going to be quite large. How to turn real and sim driver feedback into a manageable physics workflow is no easy task. And then imagine supporting and developing the game for 5 years in the future. I hope their models are not too complex. iRacing boasts about how everything is modeled to the last molecule. Project Cars 4 also boasts about minute details. I'm of the opinion that a large field of cars can't be maintained and developed properly unless the physics models are built from the ground up with this in mind. Do you need combustion chamber airflow calculations or can you achieve certain effects simpler and easier? IMO iRacing, RF2, and probably also the project cars games are evidence that higher detail physics models don't have any relationship with better driving cars. I hope kunos saw this and went for a pragmatic approach, adding complexity only when the benefits truly outweigh the drawbacks, looking from the perspective of having hundreds of different physics combinations that you maintain and update during todays long product lifecycles..
All I ask you is to tell the sound devs to make a proper transmission whine for the 992 Cup pleaaaaassseeeee. rFactor 2 got it spot on so it's achievable
Could you ask them about active reset?! I really really really hope AC Evo will have it! It would be sooooo helpful and efficient to learn and experiment with tricky corners (and/or all corners). I wish ACC had it too!
Many congratulations Nils, with your attention to details, the sim racing/driving community only benefits with you playing a more prominent role in what is a much anticipated title. Enjoy! (I also look forward to seeing a server setting for cockpit only, hehe, I know you'll suggest it eventually, even though nothing to do with what you have stated as your role.)
Every iRacing streamer is biased because they share refferals and directly earn money when fans use theirs. Esp. stramers who got betting activated. So yeah, you're going the good route. Congrats and have a good time working for Kunos
Well done! Congratulations on your new role, couldn't have found anyone to fit it better than you do. It's such a relief that Kunos seems to really listen to experts and community voices on their new game. Excited!
This is awesome. No worries about bias, you're reputation is solid and Kunos trusts you so that's all that needs to be said. Would love to see dev videos and maybe even streams/races with the community as Aries did. Good luck!
As always Nils - kudos to you for your transparency and clear disclosure of affiliation. Hands down the most professional and in-depth simracing channel.
Woah, been years since I checked back on Simracing and here you are, new clean room setup, and still going strong! Living the dream mate, keep it up :)
Congratulations Nils! Happy for you, and the community. You've been a great source of information and support. I suspect you will be a wonderful addition to Kunos. Looking forward to enjoying AC EVO and learning from you. Cheers! Rick
IMHO LMU communicates forces of the suspension through ffb that result from road undulations. I can feel the weight of the front setttleing from abrupt dips and elevation changes. This effect release adds to the immersion. I attempted to produce the same in ACC with barely a little luck. Adjusting the fov to magnify (magnifying the road also improved the sensation; the ffb is synchronized with road events so the more one makes the road undulations apparent to the eyes, the more the feel).
Congrats, Nils! So happy for you (and for us) as it is so important for a sim to have feedback whilst development phase. Looking forward to the release and all content to come from you. Cheers, Freddy
Congrats! Please look into DFR aka dynamic foveated rendering for VR, boosts performance/increase quality for VR. Can let fancy VR render faster than 2d.
Congrats, I'm Still wowed by your lfm guides so can't wait for evo! I love that your making sure there is real world correlation because that is why I sim race!
I have a question, don’t you think being heavily involved in the development of the game, and being able to drive it all through the process of it and before everyone else might give you a competitive advantage if you were to compete in esports on the game ? Not only because of the fact you’d have more time driving it than anyone at the start, but also because of the knowledge of specific aspects (setups, tyre wear, physics, …) you might pick up from the devs, which you would not get if you were just a normal player ? Curious to hear your thoughts on that 🙂 But anyway that is a great opportunity, congratulations! For us players it’s nice to know they have someone like you onboard to give feedback!
yeah fair point. though i doubt the esports pros of tomorrow should fear a 38 year old veteran. the game comes in early access, I'm not sure when esports will play a role on this title. and there is only so much to know and so much to set up, people will very quickly outperform what we saw during our testing, as the testing is not around trying to set unbeatable world records with randomly occuring exploit setup. im happy if i can ever win a single race again ;)
Want "cometitive" advantage? disable all the "immersion" functions on your gear. OR disable all ELECTRONICS assists, learn to be fast with a slow car. (SKILL ISSUE).
This is great to hear! When a game development company is humble enough to hire a top enthusiast with a following like yours Nils, as a former game developer, it shows me that they believe in what they are creating. TAKE MY MONEY KUNOS.
Firstly - Congratulations :) Secondly - Maybe, Making an event by Kunos for motorsport journalists from EVO, Autocar, CAR Magazine Channel would be good idea if You are all are looking for good feedback and most real experience in sim? What do You think and will You ask about that Kunos?
Thanks for the update! Super cool that you're working with Kunos on AC Evo. Honestly, fuck iRacing-it looks like a PS2 game, and it’s boring to watch. Maybe you can make it more fun? Not gonna lie, I have zero hopes for AC Evo, but if anyone can make it worth getting excited for, it’s probably you. And gimme that AMS2 content already-I need to see what they’re cooking! Keep doing what you do, I’m here for it!
That's some fucking great news. That alone makes me hyped for ACE again. I really hope Kunos will hear your inputs, which will definitely make the game better in many aspects, from the basic car behavior to the esports level. Congrats!
Moin Nils, tolle Neuigkeiten.
Thats some big news mate! Congrats to that position. It's nice to know, that we have someone again who knows what he's doing AND is also vocal about stuff. good move Kunos ❤
Honestly I'm glad you're involved. And you have always come across as completely objective and no time for the tribal nonsense that too often surrounds sim racing. This can only make things better - at least, for evo!! But whilst you have the ear of kunos, USA pt2, Europe, Asia track packs and car updates for ACC please, you know you want it!
Aris did so much for ACC for me. The level of background detail that he provided regarding the physics and the tyre model and setups really help me to enjoy it so much more than if he was there. I am hopeful that you will provide the same information.... no pressure. Regarding AMS2 v1.6 is the big one for me. With LFM integration this sim should not be ready for the big time. Regarding ACE how about one wink for yes and two winks for no.
Wow, congratulations! Sounds like a dream job for you, and for most of your followers. This can only mean good things for EVO going forward. Btw. are you working for Kunos or with Kunos? What comes to people making their own conclusions though. There is a reason why popular content creators are called influencers. They actually influence the way people think about things and I'm sure your followers don't approach iRacing for example with a completely open mind. And that is all fine of course, just don't fool yourself (or your viewers) that a bias doesn't have an impact. I'm also curious how other companies view your objectivity going forward. Will they be more hesitant in giving you early access or free content to review. Anyway, good news and wish you all the best with Kunos!
This is GOOD news ... It will only make EVO a better sim with your input. Can we also get Kunos to give ACC a final update before the team fully transitions to EVO. You would be the best individual to present any nuances in the sim to level set. Really looking forward to the future of Sim Racing ... Cheers!!!!
This is the best news I have heard all week. (Which wasn't that hard tbh). Having a somewhat independent Esports Test driver raises my hopes towards EVO to new heights.
Congrats, my friend! You are an amazing person and deserve the best of all. You probably already know a lot. But if by any chance you haven't read these books, I recommend them a lot. Tune to win - Carroll Smith. And Analysis Techniques for Racecar Data Acquisition, Second Edition - Segers
@@terrysearle2633 Surely that's a question for Nils, not me 🤔 I prefer iracing to acc, This doesn't make me think one is better than the other, I'm just used to iracing.

Cool - das freut mich für dich, aber auch für uns - ich bin sicher, dass du relevante Inputs für EVO geben kannst, damit Racing damit noch besser wird! Wirst du weiterhin eSport betreiben?
