Former Realtor here. Clients asked me to check out the attic of an old Victorian they were in contract for. There was no light up there and I didn't have a flashlight so I took a few flash photos. Didn't really look at the pictures until I showed it to them. There were two goblins staring at us in one of the photos. Went back a few days later with a proper flashlight and found two paper mache goblins in the attic. Told the clients that I talked to the goblins and they were happy to get new downstairs neighbors as the sellers were too quiet. They laughed.

ffs man the goblins were just trying to play a round of D&D in the pitch black dark attic and you had to interrupt them with your picture taking.

8:00 I know that event personally and it continues to traumatize me. The Reddit poster didn't do the humanity and horror of what happened justice.
My childhood friend from church died in that shooting. My friend was trying to close the door as not to let the shooter in but didn't succeed. He was at the party trying to offer help to the kids who were doing drugs at that rave and was leaving at the same time that the shooter came. I also met a guy who was there but successfully hid in the bathtub. I've been to a lot of memorials for this event and still communicate with my friend's mother - a woman who will never be the same. She was supposed to help out with a church fundraiser that night but couldn't because she had to identify the body that day.
Many people, including myself, will never be the same. And the kids who died, I've never stopped wondering who they'd be now.

He moved out and passed away shortly after we moved in. my mother would always catch the scent of his cologne, and one night when she smelled it, she looked up from the computer and saw him at the end of the hallway by my little brothers bedroom. She said he loved my brother, always wanted to know how he was doing.

Bought a house in the country and about a year later I was telling my neighbor about some really weird events in the house. He listened then said, you do know that the original owner died and lay in the living room for 3 weeks before we found him don’t you? It was winter and the old guy heated with a wood stove so he froze solid after he died. He was stiff and frozen when they helped carry him out. I think the old guy was still hanging around😱.

Knew about a small housing development where a couple was planting trees and dug up human bones. While they were being dated, another house found more bones... another and another. Eventually it came out the the developers had bulldozed Adena-Hopewell burial mounds. An entire neighborhood basically built on a city of the dead.

I had a a lady who sold homes tell me a funny story.
There was a house in Colorado, beautiful property, remodeled, everything.
    COULD NOT SELL IT. Why?
Because the previous owner kept a Lion in the basement and it’s kitty piss absorbed into the wall and foundation and this caused the whole house to smell like kitty pee.
Yea. They were gonna have to raze that lovely house to the foundation and beyond because of how bad the smell was.
This is why exotic pets...especially big cats make bad pets!

equarg That reminds me of something I heard about a house in a nearby town. Someone whose son-in-law is involved in auctions told us that there was a house in a certain neighborhood that looked beautiful from the outside, but the owners were having trouble selling it. Why? Because they let their dog potty in the house and couldn't be bothered to clean it up. The carpet was stained and the padding underneath was saturated with ammonia from the dog pee, making the whole place stink. They were having to pay money to remove and replace the carpet because they were too lazy to attend to their pet.

Less disturbing, more weird. We bought a house a year ago. The 2nd owner of the house had moved across the street, and told us about what she'd had done to the house. Her brother had done the electric, and installed the interior doors. There had been 2 owners between her and us. All of the light switches are backwards (the outer switch turns on the inner light, and vice versa), the outlets are all upside down, and the doorknobs were all backwards (We fixed them. But that part that latches, and has one flat and one rounded side, so you can push the door shut. The flat side faced the door frame so you'd have to turn the knob every time.) and the doors are all awkwardly high off the floor. (We have a tiny dog, and it can fit its snout under the door enough to see his eyes.) These crazy things lasted for 15 years without being corrected. 🤔

    Obligatory not a realtor.
I moved to the house I live in now 4 years ago, but I moved to this town 5 years ago. We had a year lease on a house we were renting and my parents were quickly trying to find a house within their budget to buy before our lease was up. They found a house in a heavily wooded neighborhood and bought it. About a year later my mother was talking to one of the neighbors who told us the former owners husband died in the master bedroom and that’s why they sold the house.
My bedroom is the master bedroom.. I shrugged it off after finding out cause I’ve been in houses where relatives have died plenty times before. But starting this summer (Bare in mind it’s been 3 years since we found that out) some very odd things have been going on. On the Fourth of July I left the front door open cause I was taking out the trash and recycling in the entire house. I was at the top of the stairs when the front door threw itself shut. We’ve had fresh fruit rot the day after buying it. My dog always barks at nothing. Foot steps being heard from the kitchen when nobody else is home. And one night I had a bad nightmare and had to force myself awake to where I swear I saw someone standing at the foot of my bed. I’m not afraid to admit I’m in my early 20s and sleep with a night light now.

    Me: "cool what street?"
Kid: "I live on (My street name) street number 2 is the haunted one"
    Me: "that's.. My house"
Turns out some of my neighbours kids thought the house was haunted because they didn't know we'd moved in and suddenly saw lights on and figures in the windows.

Another reason for reversed locks is for taking care of elderly parents with dementia and altzheimers. We took care of my grandma with dementia and had to reverse the locks because she would walk out of her room naked and walk down the street and sit in the neighbors back yards and say things like “she doesn’t have to wear pants she’s 2 years old.” And old people need diapers too so when she would take it off and have an accident it was pretty gross for everyone involved. When it develops into altzheimers they get violent. So backwards locks can actually be a sign of care in many cases

Not a ghost story, but when we bought our house in Tucson we had a bizarre few coincidences. 6 months after September 11, we closed and as we're on moving in day, two FBI agents showed up, ordered us to stop because they were "looking for anything the previous owners might have left" then while ones in the shed and the others in the attic, two people from the CIA show up.
One of the FBI agents knew the lady from the CIA. My husband and my small children are wondering what in God's name we've gotten ourselves into, and then the freaking doorbell rings again, it's a dude with a wrecker coming to reposess that last owner's cars. I can't remember if it was the FBI or the CIA agents but one of them told him the cars had been found abandoned at the airport and told him where he could claim them after they'd been searched "in a week or so" then as THAT'S happening a truck from a furniture rental place arrives. I'm *this* close to losing my shit at this point, but the only thing leftover was a broken lawnmower, which he took. (I was terrified they'd take the appliances.)
The agents finished up looking through EVERYTHING around like 6pm, and apologetically tell us how to submit a voucher to pay for a moving crew and another month of storage payments as it would be a bit until my husband could get time off and we had to send the kids who were helping us move home, which was nice. And they asked us to please save any mail that came for the old owners and they'd come collect it from us, and said if we found anything unusual to please let them know. (we told them what parts of the house we were planning on remodeling.)
We got a ton of financial notices for the prior owners, most troubling were requests for payment from a prestigious flight school the man was going to and dropped out of suddenly.
The icing on the paranioa cake occurred the next monsoon season, when every time it rained the phones died, and the AT&T guy found some sort of "bug" (listening device) on the line outside. Now, I have worked for a P.I. and private security company for well over 25 years now. I haven't see anything like it before or since.)
The FBI agent would come out once a month or so to get their mail, though eventually it dwindled to once every 3 to 6 months, but when I called about the thing one the phone line, he was there while my hair was still wet from the shower I was taking while the phone guy was there. He was very adamant about knowing who touched it, and left looking to track down the ATT guy.
The neighbors said they didn't have much contact with the previous owners. They were described to me as a quiet professional childless couple from Saudi Arabia, which struck me as weird as it was a BIG house. Too big for a couple, in a highly desirable school district, nobody else on the block was childless. I'm nosy by nature and to this day want to know wtaf went on in my house, but I've resigned myself to never really knowing. ☹️
