Cars of that vintage that have been modified are often a dog's breakfast. This one has been done with care and attention to the car's origins. Spectacular!
Some people just deserve cars they own! Is it a fate or a God's will but they clearly do! This guy is one of them. That Porsche is well taken care of! Best of wishes for both owner and car to make a lot of safe miles. As for a video crew and host, don't worry, people will eventually caught on your stuff and you will dominate YT one day. Mark my words. ❤
Hello adrianshephard224 - thank you so much for your kind words and as a new kid on the block, without a brain trust of thousands of followers - I hope your right, because we have a great production team with some great content, that hopefully people will come around soon. Stay tuned - our next YT post will be a walk around and some great rolling shots with my unique 1973 914 and also, please check out some of our reels on Instagram at: richards_d_elegance - thanks again :-)
Car owners that own their car for more than 10 years and continue owning and taking good care of them deserve my highest respect. Hope to see more videos like this.
Thanks @std882 - for your comments and ya, never thought when I bought her in 1973 - that 51 years later she would still be part of my life. Thanks again and stay tuned for our next post with my unique '73 914 - CheeRS
I have a 981 since 2015, it is the first and last car I ever bought, and living in these times of the switch to electrical blabla, and seeing how I only have maybe 15-20 years to live, I will keep it forever and drive into the sunset so to speak :) I hate those stories where people traded in their fave car to finance the next one, only to regret it later.... all the cars I could buy from hereon will be shittier, more bland.
Love this story. Someone who couldn't easily afford the car but loved it so much, he made it happen and worked hard/smart in order to keep and maintain the vehicle. Looks amazing!
Hey @erichstevens3246 - and person after my own heart :-) There is nothing like driving the old analog style 911 F-series, with the long front hood and more - they just don't make them like that anymore. And then, to be able to remove the top, fold it up - put in the trunk or backseat and enjoy the Targa style 911. Thanks for checking us out on our new YT channel - CheeRS
Thanks @idonjohnson6999 - for your kind words and she has been one of my passions in life, or should I say - a lifetime passion for Porsche's - thanks again and CheeRS
I think I might have seen this very Targa parked on the Coast Highway in Laguna Beach about 48 years ago. Walking north about 100 feet south of the White House it was parked at the curb with the top off and it looked as good as a slice of tiramisu to me. I never forgot the chocolate Targa. It inspired me enough to be the happy owner of an 87 Targa now for 31 years. Great video, I love what Richard has done with his!
Now @timmusick9875 - that would be something it she is the same Porsche you saw 48 years ago - I was living in L.A. at the time so, maybe? Good on you and your 31 years of ownership with your '87 Targa and the chocolate is called Sepia Brown - thanks and stay tuned for more post soon :-)
It looked like dessert to me. I had an Alfa at the time, but I never saw a more desirable sportscar than that Targa. Congrats on 51 years and what you've done with it!
Enjoyed the video, quality and editing. Don't worry about views and subscribers yet, just keep pumping the videos out. One will catch fire and your channel will likely explode after that. For now, you at least got one more subscriber here mate!
Pre ‘74 911’s were the prettiest. My dad had a ‘73 RS that was stolen in front of our house on lido Island in Newport Beach in ‘87. It drove my dad crazy with the constant carb problems. So he bought an ‘87 red cabriolet in early ‘88 off a one year lease. He drove that until his death in ‘09.
What @chunnelll - your Dad had a '73 RS stolen - get out of here!! If the Porsche hadn't been stolen and your Dad was still with us today - you know, whether a Lightweight or Touring RS is big $$$$$$ today - thanks for checking us out - CheeRS
I have a '73 911T Targa (green) that I inherited from my Dad. Its been in our family since 1975. Mine's a survivor. Had an engine fire and sat, non-functional, all this time (about 40 years). I just had the engine rebuilt and fired it up for the first time last year. She runs beautifully. So much fun to drive! It definitely doesn't look anywhere as nice as yours. It's faded and scratched and a little rusty (like me, honestly) but its mine, and I've been waiting 40 years to drive it. I'll never give it up! Do I wish I had the $30-$50k to bring it back to it's original beauty? Sure. But for now, I'm happy to have it at all. There's nothing like them. Thank you for sharing yours with us!
Oh my gosh @toddwalden8533 - what a great story!! Being that it's been in the family since 1975 - makes you a special 911 owner, that should be appreciated for keeping her that long!! That must of been something after all that time to finally get to drive her after the rebuild and can only hope that you too, will keep her in the family. Enjoy the ride - CheeRS
At 0:18 seconds I already love this-just from seeing the tach at 5,000 rpms, which means you’re driving this car like the engineers who designed it intended.
Thanks @zonoscopePictures and yes, she must be driven!! And as you say, the engineers designed their Porsches to be driven - no matter which model one is driving. Thanks again and CheeRS
There's nothing like the old air cooled Porsches. They were so unique cars up until the 964 and 993. Hand built, raw, analog, small, light... wonderful pieces of automotive art.
Hello @detonator2112 - Thank you so much for you spot on comment about the classic, early style analog 911 Porsches. With a '73 911E sunroof, a '73 911S coupe and a '73 914 w/2.7L carbureted flat 6 - the 1973 911 model year for me, was the best year for the long hood, analog style Porsches. Thanks again and loved your '...automotive art' statement - CheeRS
You’ve got me beat; I’ve only owned my 1972 911T Targa for 47 years. I’ve ’bare-metalled’ my car - twice - and plan to do it a third time, as soon as I finish my 1988 911 Carrera . After the Targa is finished, then my 1973 911S project is next. Who needs antifreeze when air is free?
Hello @davidcrowdermd2038 - well now, 47 years for your '72 911T Targa, that's awesome. And, a multi Porsche owner too - nice!! For me - along with the '73 Targa, I've got a '73 911E sunroof, a '73 911S (like u) and a '73 914 carbureted six. We should have a new post on the 914 up shorty, so hope you continue to watch. And, loved, "...air is free" - CheeRS
Just imagining guys. If this 1973 911 Targa is available (for sale) at the Porsche dealership today - as a limited reproduction model. I wouldn't think twice in buying it. I truly love the design more than the current 911 Targa - heck any 911 model today. Absolutely beautiful in every way! Bravo!
Thanks @thejarfoundation7162 - for your kind words and I agree on the design for the earlier 911 air cooled Porsches - truly a classic look - stay tuned - CheeRS
I've always loved 911's. Daily driver supercars with a timeless design. Very tasteful modifications on this stunning Targa without going overboard. A beautiful machine.
Hello finn281175 - thank you so much for your kind words about my modified '73 911T Targa and hope you stay tuned for more storylines about some of my other vehicles - next up is my unique 1973 914 🙂
Sepia is probably the second most unloved color for '73 (Royal Purple takes bottom spot). But this car looks fantastic. The F-body chassis with 3.2 is such a great combination...
Hey @billkelly2889 - and yes, Sepia Brown was available from 1969 to 1973 and was NOT a popular color at all, but Porsche a few years ago decide to bring back those earlier retro colors. Which gave me the opportunity when I purchased my 2023 911 Targa 4 GTS in a PTS to also choose Sepia Brown. That gave me two Sepia Brown Porsches 50 years apart. And yes, the F body with the '86 3.2L has been a great combination for me. Thanks for your comment - CheeRS
Thanks @horse5407 - for your comment and yep, the Porsche color is called Sepia Brown and the wheels are factory Fuchs - stay tuned for our next post - CheeRS
The storytelling here is as compelling as the car itself. The owner's passion also elevates this video, distinguishing it from so many other Porsche videos which can sometimes be a bit vapid--not this one though. It is excellent. Good job.
Thanks @superbug1977 - for your positive note on our video. being a new kid on the block, it took a few takes to get my brain and mouth working at the same, but the interview style with my friend Richard - made it a lot easier for me to tell my story. Hope you'll check out Instagram page at richards_d_elagance too. Thanks again and CheeRS
What a great car and such a caring owner. All the modifications were done tastefully and professionally and genuinely make the car look amazing. I hope this car has a great life for the next 51 years!
Thanks @MegaHomie4life for your kind words and 51 more years - that'll make me 122 years old and Porsche would be 102 years old, so she going to the family when my time is up, but yes - hopefully another 51 years of enjoyment - CheeRS
I too have a 73 sepia 911 but, mine is the L coupe with the MFI engine. I also have the same Recaro seats but, without the air inserts. Great look and mods on your car. I have tried to keep mine as stock and original as possible including the paint on mine.
Thanks @jefferycatalano4034 for your comments and nice to hear of another '73 Sepia 911 and WHAT - you got the same Recaro seats - in the same color? - stay tuned for more post soon - CheeRS
What a great story. I especially liked the modern version of the car in his collection. The paint to sample option alone cost more than the original car. Amazing!
Thanks @details78 - for your comments and that's an excellent point - never thought about the fact the cost of a PTS is more then the cost of my '73 - excellent! The other Sepia Brown Targa is a 2023 Targa 4 GTS, so 50 years apart '73 - 2023 in the same paint code :-) stay tuned for our future posts - CheeRS
Such a beautiful build! The car is IMMACULATE! that paint looks wet my gosh 💦 I remember my first car. 1992 Honda Accord coupe w/F23 5sp. Paid $1400 for it 😮. Sold it but I remember my grandpa having a similar talk with me about the purchase 😂 since he had custody over me. Good times but I sold it, and brought a 1996 Honda Prelude Type S that my grandfather actually approved of 😎. Miss them both! R.I.P 🕊
Hello @ElRayDelRio - thanks for you comments and I too had Honda, but mine was a Civic Hatchback that was my daily driver back in the late 80's. And, interesting to hear about someone else who had to approach their grandfather for approval - thanks again - CheeRS
what a nice targa , i only had the 74, 911 with the 2.7 engine ended up never having a targa,(not counting the vwporshe) but the wheels are the same as they are famous ,nice work keeping it nice all this years
Hey @RUfromthe40's - sorry for the delay - the '74 G-body 911 with the 2.7 is a nice combination and thanks for the compliment on my '73 911T Targa. One of the loves of my life and for 51 years - CheeRS
Hello @ShimazuStudio - and right back at with, congratulations on the ownership of your '73 for 50 years - that's awesome!! Not to many of us out there that has owned their Porsche's, for as long as we have - safe travels ahead - CheeRS
Love the car, and love him. Special story for sure, and the records and other stuff is just phenomenal. That said, can't believe Werks reunion and some of the other competitions are handing out ribbons/trophies for cars that have had major bodywork modifications (flares, bumpers, rockers), resprays, non-original engines, different seats, etc. That's actually kind of mind-blowing in a way
Thanks @david05111 for your kind words and in regards to Werks Reunion and other shows, will have different classes for the cars depending on the shows. She was entered at the Werks Amelia last March in the P3 class 69-73 911's and modified or not. The national PCA Porsche Parade does have a modified class for the early 911's which we did also take first place last year in Palm Springs, CA - CheeRS
Hello @kippermoon - appreciate the kind words about my '73 911 Targa and she has been a dream come true. I would have never thought when I bought her in April of 1973, that after 51 years - she would still part of my life, and hopefully - will be through the remainder of my time here. Thanks again - CheeRS
Buying and building a car of ur dreams or love to have is by far the easiest part of the journey, keeping the car, maintaining and keeping it like how it was? only a few people are able and blessed to do because it is never ending until the end. Congrats and thank u for sharing
Hello @1kontrabida - good points, but after the mods. and a few years of autocrosses and time trials - she's been a garage queen with only about 30,000 since 1991 - except for some oil and filter changes - she don't need much more - thanks for your comments - CheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance yet still u have to check on her and continuously replace parts to keep her up which is my point for people thinking its easy to maintain and or collect cars that ones u park and put the car cover on that about it, little do they know it takes extra care from sourcing parts to replacing parts even if u dont use the car as per anything rubber deteriorate at a faster rate when it sits. Maybe its just me but i do prefventigve maintenance on mine and hate to be fixing something when i need to bring one of my cars out.
Sepia Brown is a durable paint for whatever reason and one of my personal favorite 911 colors. Not once was it mentioned in this fantastic video. Thanks for sharing your car with us.
Hey @JoJoJoker - and thanks for you comments!! In '73 the factory used a single stage paint and when we did the mods, in 1991, we also used a Glasurit single stage paint and she's pretty much been a garage queen since then. And yes, Sepia Brown is my favorite too - along with the "73, I've got a 2023 911 Targa 4 GTS in Sepia Brown and on the way is a 2024 Spyder RS also in Sepia Brown - stay tunes for future posts - CheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance wow, TWO modern Sepia brown Porsches?! Legend...I hope to somehow see them. Jay Leno even has a lovely Sepia 911T. My 964 Carrera 4 is Guards Red but if I ever respray or wrap it Sepia is high on the list.
What a beauty! The build quality back then was amazing on all their models. I owned a 77 S Targa which had the factory black out trim. Unfortunately I sold her for a 1980 911SC model, but it just didn't have the same build quality as the 77S. Unfortunately I sold her for a new 1980 911SC model but it just didn't have the same build quality or feel as the 77S. That's the one I should have kept, there is something special about those 70's vintage 911's. I've owned numerous 911, 991, 928, yada, yada, yada. Should have kept the 77 911S model Targa... Good Luck!
Hey @mariodesome - and nice to hear about a fellow Porsche owner and yes, there is something special about the old analogue style Porsches and especially for me, the '73 model year was a stand alone 911 model year. As you saw in the video, I've got the '73 911T Targa, '73 911E sunroof, '73 911S coupe and the '73 914. I agree the '77 S Targa was also a great model year and maybe never to late to search for another one in the future. Appreciate your comments and please stay tuned for future YT videos on some of the other cars in the garage. Next up will be the two MB's with a future post about my new 2024 Sepia Brown 718 Spyder RS arriving in a few weeks. Thanks again and CheeRS
Hey @brianz426 - thank you so much for tuning in and we hope to continue the best content we can for you and others as time moves on. We are new kids on the block, so we're still building the channel, with new content as quick as we can. Thanks for subscribing and please let me know your thoughts as we move forward - CheeRS
Thanks @MikesRetorations - for you comments and appreciate your interest! Our next post will be with my unique '73 914 - so stay tuned and thanks again - CheeRS
Hey @theRCLlama - and thank you so much for taking the time to submit a comment - I appreciate you kind yours - thanks again and please stay tuned for our future post - CheeRS
Hey Sparky245 - and yep, an L.A. brat all the way!! I miss those simple times back then, but nothing stays the same - just look at the technology changes with Porsche over the last 50 or so years. The Sepia Brown color was not the most popular back then, but I think the market has grown to appreciate this unique color. Thanks for your comment and CheeRS
Wow... what a joy! Straight into my Favourites :) The (elder) Richard certainly was even more "fiscally conservative" than grandpa' in keeping this baby for 51 years ❤ All the best to them... I feel they morphed into one living being now :)
Thanks @algeniscorrea187 - for your kind words and please stay tuned for our future post and hope we can continue some good content for ya - please check out Instagram page too at: richards_d_elegance - CheeRS
Hey @Ghostwritersinthesky - thanks for your kind words about my '73 911 and I understand on the steering wheel, but when doing autocrosses and time trials - I needed a smaller diameter steering wheel to lessen the steering radius. Along with, she is modified and the original wheel just wouldn't look right - CheeRS
Hello @toneyengland9744 - with my 2023 911 Targa 4 GTS and the '73, Targa's are my favorites too - not so much for the earlier soft windows though - CheeRS
Hello @MrBecker666 - nice, on the ownership of your 993C4S for all of those years. Hang in there - just another 23 years till you hit that 50 year milestone - enjoy and CheeRS
Thanks oliverradcliffe7974 for your nice comment about the story and please stay tuned for more future videos about some of the other that I own - next up is my unique 1973 914 - thanks again 🙂
$10k in 1973 would be around $70k in 2024 given official US inflation over the last 50 years. Shows just how much Porsche have jacked up their prices of new cars🤑🤑
Thanks @glenbetton3146 - for your comments and excellent point on the price point of cars over 50 years. I know your just using Porsche as an example, but certainly the cost of all cars have gone up exponentially and now we see dealers tagging on additional markups because of supply and demand - thanks again and stay tuned for our next post - CheeRS
@@Monkeyboy2457 excellent point and wow - $22,000 to 3m in 51 years. Gotta think market price for my modified '73 Targa might be around $150,000+ Thanks and CheeRS
Hey @Barry101er - and yes, I did keep the original 15x5" Fuchs - their hanging on my wall right know and I appreciate your kind word about my '73 911T Targa - CheeRS
Thanks @anthonyc1883 - the color is Sepia Brown and was available with Porsche from 1969 - 1973. The Retro color has been introduce for the Boxster in 2022 and then last year that color was a PTS (paint to sample) for some of the 911 models - CheeRS
Yep @nrs6956 - the newer 911 models are huge compared to my little '73 911's, but back then, everything was easy with the old analog style Porsches. With cameras, sensors, safety standards, aerodynamics and the latest greatest technology today, the vehicles have got to be larger or 'bloated' :-). Thanks for your comment - CheeRS
Hey @diplomacy2000 - I'm no longer with Mara today - that was along time ago, but to this day we still remain great friends and, she was tickled pink when I told her name and our story about hitting the deer - was in the video :-). Thank you for mentioning Mara's name - CheeRS
Hey @sonicstep - actually, there is no spring dampening feature inside the rubber bumpers, they're solid rubber - meant to collapse a bit if they were to be hit. As mentioned in the video, the '73 911 bumpers, was the only year they used that style, because the 1974 911's had to meet different DOT standards - if I misunderstood your question - please let me know - CheeRS
Thanks @henningh - appreciate the comment and I'll pass it along to Locksley and Richard who is my production team - stay tuned for future post - CheeRS
Thanks @jsshayes1 - for checking us out and hope you'll continue watching our channel - please check out our Instagram page at richards_d_elegance too - CheeRS
Looks same as meaning of building quality. I'm kid Dat raised watching n playing race games. N here i'am today looking at world fast cars and record of world. N the Porsche nine eleven is a bullet of the road or race track. Man this guy have a rare pearl, big stack of $$$$$ this peace.
Hello @DelLondt - yep, the 911 history use to be, drive it to the track then run her on the track and then drive her home. Which I did a few times at Willow Springs Raceway in the upper deserts of Los Angeles and ya, I can only hope that if I were to sell, she would return a pretty penny - but she ain't gonna be sold and will be handed down to my family when that time comes - thanks for your comments - CheeRS
Congrats on your stewardship of that beautiful car…love it…i wonder whether there are any mixed feelings about the OEM fender changes…no criticism intended.
Thanks @stevepike7530 - for your comments and in regards to the OEM fenders - good point, but after 115,000 miles and 28 years of originality, it was time for a change, so in 1991 we did the mods with the '73 OEM RS flares - thanks for your interest and please stay tuned for our next post - CheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance Hi RS… yes mate, fair enough too…I’ve owned an 89 Speedster for decades & daily a 928 GTS…I take the view, that if it makes me feel good looking at it, then I’m most likely to drive it more…your 73 is a credit to you…I wish you many more happy years behind the wheel…regards Steven
Wow @marklangren3142 - now that's some history and good on your family for respecting and appreciating the greatest sportscar manufacturer in the World - Porsche. May the road ahead, continue with your classic 911's - CheeRS
Hey @watzonda2b - thanks for your comments and she has been one of my passions in life, over 51 years. Price tag - yep, back in '73 - $10,000 was a lot of money for a vehicle and if you look at inflation over those years - she today would be just over $71,000. And being a Vegan for 46 years and genetics, may have helped me looking young then I am. Thanks for your kind words - CheeRS
Hey @dielaufscoke7642 - thanks for the comment and wouldn't hurt to a least your Mom - waddda you got to lose :-) thanks again and hope that new 911 Carrera is in your future -CheeRS
Hey @JamieToddBand - I looked long and hard for 2 rich parents - just joking - I'd take 2 loving parents who have stayed together over the years - any day - good on them and nice to hear about owning a couple of 911 Porsche - CheeRS
Hey @JoeMomma-mx8ek - thanks for the update on the dealership and ya, after 51 years it would be hard pressed for the dealership to still be standing. Nothing stays the same - except for me :-) CheeRS
Your car reminds me of an 81 911 I almost bought. It was 8k 15 years ago. I got the creeps and felt there was something wrong like broken head studs. The clutch seemed to grab too close to the floor. Almost the same color. Someone rattle canned the original white headliner dark brown. This turned me off from buying the car.
Hey @kapitelzweiwine - thanks for the like on the video and the t-shirts? The shirts are not from 1973, but the illustrations on the back, show the '73 from the video and my 2023 911 Targa 4 GTS in Sepia Brown too. Please stay tuned for some future posts about our merchandize package and checkout our Instagram page too at richards_d_elegance - CheeRS
Hello @seancrowley1065 - sorry for the deal, but no she does not still have the 2.4L CIS motor. She's got an 1986 3.2L with chip upgrade and Hotwire Sparkplug harness. And no duck tale for this '73, because I didn't want to make it look like a '73 RS tribute, even though she's got '73 RS flares, bumperrets and rocker panels - wanted to keep the aluminum deck lid original looking. And WOW on the family owned Porsches - the '72T and a '76 Euro Carrera, but a '89 959 and a '85 930 - nice!! What happened to the 959??? Thanks for your comment and please stay tuned for our future YT posts - CheeRS
Hey @MW-gi1tr - sorry for the delay and gonna guess your talking about the 1973.5 plastic air box that kept blowing a hole in the box because of the pop-off valve? Yep, went thru 3 different boxes if I remember - The factory (blew two of those), then a reinforced plastic rib and then a metal lined air box, which solved the problem for me. Can't remember if Porsche did something to help relieve that back pressure too. Thanks for checking us out - hope you enjoy the other videos - CheeRS
Um…911 does not use a “timing belt” obviously all 911 use chains to drive the two cams (1 cam per bank on this vehicle). The belt in that tool kit was either for the fan/alternator, or maybe it would have been for the mechanical injection pump if this car had mechanical injection which it didn’t because its a CIS/K-jet engine. So the belt is probably the fan/alternator belt.
Hey @ericcindycrowder7482 - you are correct, our bad - because the belt is for the CIS alternator and not the timing belt. Thanks for correction - CheeRS
Hey @doughyanddeanssecondcousin5085 - thanks for checking us out and ya - I too am all about the vintage Porsche with 4 1973's - the Targa, a 911E sunroof, a 911S coupe and a 914 - thanks again and CheeRS
Hello @vin9114 - and you are correct and I may have made a mistake in the video - the 1986 US 911 Carrera was 207 hp at 5900 rpm with 192 ft lbs of torque at 4800 and with the chip upgrade she is probably closer to 220+hp - thanks and CheeRS
Yep @Channel-Ai - 51 years and no cracks. After being a daily driver in L.A. with 115,000 on her, she went into storage in 1986 for 5 years and then always in the garage after a drive. So the dash never sat out in the sun for an extended period of time - thanks for noticing - CheeRS
Wished I could own a Porsche of my own. However, in my country, imported cars are the most expensive. I could only own a Toyota Corolla based on my own finances. Perhaps, I could sell my Corolla here and buy a Porsche in the US. There is no 400% tax placed on cars in the US and there's definitely no Certificate of Entitlement required in the US. What a way to control car ownership in my country. So cool, the Porsche even comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Hello @silverhawk911 - and that 's wild that you pay such a high tax on imported cars, a Toyota Corolla though is a style that has been around for years and a good economical car without a lot of service required, if well maintained. But she is certainly not a Porsche - depending on your finances and the availability for servicing a Porsche in your Country - I like the idea of making the trade. Let me know if I can help if you decide to make the move - CheeRS
Hey @Narwaffle - and your right, as a new kid on the block - I have work to do on not repeating myself. I tend to not like being in front of the camera , so I guess I'm just trying to fill space. So, hope you continue to watch our future post - thanks and CheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance I was just being cheeky, not a criticism at all! Loved the video, and absolutely love how you've honoured the car in your ownership.
Hello sergeymeshkov and good question - not sure, but maybe because I am new to this social media world we live in and I don't have a brain trust of thousands of followers to 'follow' me on You Tube or Instagram yet. But hopefully, after more people realize I'm a new kid on the block and got some good content - they to will come. Hey @smiles1151 - good point - I did not save the original motor - my bad!! It had 115,000 and a leaker, so back then it wasn't worth rebuilding and keeping it. Especially after the modification - the engine would have not been appropriate for fender flares with big wheels and tires, but I get your point. No lose for the long hoods thought - I've got and original '73 S Coupe, MFI and all in silver and a '73 911 E sunroof original with MFI in black, but she is a 2.7L RS specked motor - so, long hoods are still my passion - CheeRS
This guy is a true Porsche enthusiast. He’s so different than all the repulsive TH-cam posers who just want to own one so they can be seen in it and then flip their PorschAHHHHH just to be pretentious. So, hats off to the owner who actually drives and enjoys the car for its intended purpose.
Hey @refuztosay9454 - thanks for your kind words and right on about the YT posers - not all, there is some great stuff out there with current Porscha :-) owners, but not to many that have owned for 51 years and counting. Thanks again - CheeRS
We all make mistakes. I sold my 74 911 in 85 for around $12k. I also sold my Apple stock in 2002 for around .25¢ (adjusted for splits). It's $195 today.
Hey @eddieaguirre6558 - it's never to late to once again buy back in to another classic, normally asperated 911 - price point will certainly be different though - CheeRS
I used to mock Targas for being so ugly (I owned a 911 coupe). They've since grown on me and I would love to have one in my collection, if I could afford a collection.
Cars of that vintage that have been modified are often a dog's breakfast. This one has been done with care and attention to the car's origins. Spectacular!
Thanks @robertlevasseur6843 - for your comments and no 'dog's breakfast' here - CheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance Will do man! Best of wishes! Rock on!!! ✌✌

Thanks @geterdunn2733 - for your kind words and hope you'll continue to check out our new YT channel - CheeRS
Early 70s Targas are my favorite 911s of any model from any era.
What a beautiful car. And nothing but props for owing it for 51 years.
Richard = Money Grab! Mom = stupid.
@@RichardsdeleganceThanks! And believe it or not, 1975 was still 2 years before I was born!
Beautiful car and tastefully modified. Great to hear the original owner talk about his car, which is very special.
Hey @adityasanthanam1945 - thank you so much for your kind words and hope you'll continue to watch our new YT channel - CheeRS
Sorry and the '73 911S is a coupe :-)
As you know, they're both air cooled and oil cooled, and they take a shitload of oil - about 9 quarts.

Love the fact that you are the original owner. Congrats on an amazing vehicle.
Thanks @tastrytreats6195 - for your comments - appreciate the response - CheeRS
Beautiful. That color. Those wheels.

@@Richardsdelegance Yes, my seats are exactly the same color as yours
What a great story. I especially liked the modern version of the car in his collection. The paint to sample option alone cost more than the original car. Amazing!
Thanks @details78 - for your comments and that's an excellent point - never thought about the fact the cost of a PTS is more then the cost of my '73 - excellent! Sold it but I remember my grandpa having a similar talk with me about the purchase 😂 since he had custody over me. Good times but I sold it, and brought a 1996 Honda Prelude Type S that my grandfather actually approved of 😎. Miss them both! R.I.P 🕊

what a nice targa , i only had the 74, 911 with the 2.7 engine ended up never having a targa,(not counting the vwporshe) but the wheels are the same as they are famous ,nice work keeping it nice all this years

$10k in 1973 would be around $70k in 2024 given official US inflation over the last 50 years. Shows just how much Porsche have jacked up their prices of new cars🤑🤑
Thanks @glenbetton3146 - for your comments and excellent point on the price point of cars over 50 years. You're comparing a 2024 Targa to a 1973 Targa? You get slightly more car nowadays.
Financing in 1973 wasn’t as ubiquitous as today, 70k equivalent for a car would have been almost unimaginable/unachievable for most at the time.
My parents bought a very decent house in 1973 for $22,000. That house is worth 3m now. So $10,000 was a fair bit back then.

Must be referring to that spring/dampered bumper with concertina side rubber moulds, similar to what Volvo did for their one year produced 850 mark 1.

Price tag - yep, back in '73 - $10,000 was a lot of money for a vehicle and if you look at inflation over those years - she today would be just over $71,000. And being a Vegan for 46 years and genetics, may have helped me looking young then I am. Thanks for your kind words - CheeRS
Good Idea! I should also ask my mom, if she could cover some money for the purchase of the new released 911 Carrera.
I should have chosen rich relatives! I was stuck with 2 loving parents who stayed together through thick and thin. (I did own 2 911's).
Bob Smith Porsche dealership is no longer around, they now have several dealerships that sell BMW, Mini, and Toyota.
Hey @JoeMomma-mx8ek - thanks for the update on the dealership and ya, after 51 years it would be hard pressed for the dealership to still be standing. Nothing stays the same - except for me :-) CheeRS
Porsche dealership :-)
dude your friend is a racer!
Hello @willywang1059 - and yes Richard did a lot of drifting in his younger days - do you know Richard? CheeRS
Awesome content !!!
Thanks @robtron3 - for your comment and please stay tuned for our next post with my unique '73 914 - CheeRS
Neat car and story, annoying static. Back in those days I was buying $500 cars. No one ever gave me money to buy expensive cars.
Hey @linkedup7346 - maybe it's not to late to search out a clean 911, but you will pay a lot more today then in 15 years ago - CheeRS
Great video. Where did you get the 1973 Porsche t-shirts?
Hey @kapitelzweiwine - thanks for the like on the video and the t-shirts? The shirts are not from 1973, but the illustrations on the back, show the '73 from the video and my 2023 911 Targa 4 GTS in Sepia Brown too. Please stay tuned for some future posts about our merchandize package and checkout our Instagram page too at richards_d_elegance - CheeRS
Badasss......
The man has a doll in the car for 50 years ffs !!
So it has the 2.4 with CIS correct ? Might I suggest adding a duck tail. Dad had a 72 T, a 76 Euro Carrera and an 89 959. I have an 85 930.
Thanks for your comment and please stay tuned for our future YT posts - CheeRS
had a 73.5 T. could never solve the "hot box" issue. regret selling it to this day
Hey @MW-gi1tr - sorry for the delay and gonna guess your talking about the 1973.5 plastic air box that kept blowing a hole in the box because of the pop-off valve?
Beautiful car ,I love the vintage Porsche
Hey @doughyanddeanssecondcousin5085 - thanks for checking us out and ya - I too am all about the vintage Porsche with 4 1973's - the Targa, a 911E sunroof, a 911S coupe and a 914 - thanks again and CheeRS
I believe the stock HP for an 86 911 was 207 HP. (USA)
Nice!
Thank you! CheeRS!!
The dash not cracked might be 1 of 1
Yep @Channel-Ai - 51 years and no cracks.
I just wish I knew how long he has owned the car for. Wish he mentioned it.
Why don't you have more views?
Hello sergeymeshkov and good question - not sure, but maybe because I am new to this social media world we live in and I don't have a brain trust of thousands of followers to 'follow' me on You Tube or Instagram yet. But hopefully, after more people realize I'm a new kid on the block and got some good content - they to will come. Next up is my unique 1973 914 with a walk around and some great rolling shots - stay tuned. Thanks for your interest and please check out our Instagram page to at: richards_d_elegance.
What happened to the original engine?? That’s a huge loss for longhood cars. Hopefully you kept it.
Good decision. I sold my 67 911S in 89. Huge mistake.
Too funny @OMGWTFLOLSMH - or not so funny on the sale of Apple at today's market price. Love your call tag :-) - CheeRS
Beautiful Porsche! Living the American Dream! 🇺🇸
Hey @CaptainWillard830 - thank you so much for your kind words and yes, I'm fortunate to be able to Live that American Dream - CheeRS
If only it wasn't a targa!
Almost perfect
Now now now @ArtVandelayOfficial - can we at least say she's a perfect Targa :-) stay tuned for some future posts on my '73 911 'COUPES' - CheeRS
I used to mock Targas for being so ugly (I owned a 911 coupe). They've since grown on me and I would love to have one in my collection, if I could afford a collection.
