My 1973 Porsche 911E - Drive and Shoot
My 1973 Porsche 911E is another special car in my little fleet. This beauty has remained relatively unchanged since her purchase about 11 years ago. Watch as me and rmh take her out for spin to get some content and to stretch her legs a little. Needed as she will be seeing some track time real soon! Stay tuned!
Special thanks to Shara for helping us with the shoot and big thanks to rmh for capturing such good content and putting it all together. Thanks a lot guys!

After a long wait my 2024 Sepia Brown 718 Spyder RS is here! We head down to Champion Porsche to finalize the deal and meet with Manfred and the team to get her loaded up and delivered to the garage. In normal circumstances this is done before the client receives the ca...

We finally have the next feature video. This round we took the attention away from the Porsches to focus on my two Mercedes. A C63 AMG Black Series and lightly modified E550. Watch as I talk about ownership and the modifications I've made to both. We then we take them out for a drive to capture some rolling shots and stretch their legs a bit.

Yes you read it right! We had to keep things hush hush, but both Targas were recently featured on Hagerty Media. Steven Cole Smith personally came into to town to drive both cars. The main purpose of the feature was for him to describe the difference between the two seeing they are 50 years apart. Nothing elaborate on this video but a min we had to document such an oporutunity! Below is the lin...

Next up is my 1 of 12 - 1973 Porsche 914 that I've owned for 33 Years. She sits exactly as you see here since the purchase 33 years ago, except for: the 15 x 7 polished factory Fuchs, Hoosier R8 tires and the GT bucket seat with a Simpson 5-point racing harness. ...

Has anyone done a "she" count?
Hey @hybriddyneguy - no your the first, but let's wait and see is if someone else is counting the times I used the word 'she' - NOT, but thanks for your observation. Hope you enjoyed the video of my '73 914 - SHE is sweet isn't SHE - cheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance Loved it! u r amazing person with a big heart! looking forward to more of our videos especially if there's one on auto cross! I'm building a Mc Laren M6GT replica and have a 914 with a 3.5 liter V8. Wish I could do videos like yours, mine really suck!
@@hybriddyneguy - thank you so much for your kind words and sorry if I was a bit short with your comment about the word 'she'. And what - a 914 with a 3.5L V8 - get out of here 🙂what year and what color? In regards to the videos - I have contracted with a photographer and a content creator in order to produce the videos you see on our YT channel and out Instagram page. Also, we are going to do a open test day at Sebring on December 19th with my '73 911E - so please stay tuned for the upcoming post. May take a bit to do the editing, put should be up and running not to long after the track day - thanks again for checking us out and cheeRS 🙂
@@Richardsdelegance Are you OK with the stock fenders or do you wish you had the 916 flares? I sure would like the flares but for now the stock fenders will have to do. so based on that I am not sure what tires to run in the stock fender configuration? I believe I want 205/50-15 on the rear but not sure what to run in the front? What tire size do you run on the front of your 914-6? I want 205/50-15 just not sure if they will fit? Sure, would appreciate any other comment you see fit on 914 tire size. Thanks for your time!
Truly wonderful car, but don't think the seats fully do this car justice, they just don't look quite right, ditto the sculpted steering wheel and the ultra polished rims. Apart from that this car is awesome in every other respect, including the beefed up power plant. I'd be tempted to offer my E30 as a trade.
Too cool .... Way to cool .... I think this is the nicest 914 I have ever seen. What a unique car. Thanks for sharing.
Hey @crissignon7482 - thank you so much for your kind words about my '73 914. As you saw in the video, she is a special Porsche, with a lot of unique feature that makes her one of a kind. When I was living in San Diego several years ago, I use to enter her in the local Autocrosses at Jack Murphy Stadium parking lot with the PCA's San Diego Region. She was top time of the day for most of the events and loved going through that old style 901 trani gears and taking that mid-engine 914 through the corners. She's a garage queen now, with a few drives each month - thanks again and hope you enjoy some of our other YT videos - cheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance Certainly sounds like some special fun times. I sold my dream Porsche a couple of months ago when I moved from Canada to Europe. "She too was super special ... '96 993 Turbo with 21k miles and a bunch of Turbo S components and man with upgraded turbos and engine management she was really quick !!! Never to be forgotten. Happy motoring.
Your hat is round the wrong way, just in case you didn’t notice.
Hey @specialman - too funny :-) and yes, I acknowledge my cap is on backwards. Your only the 2nd person to comment about the cap being on backwards - so thanks for noticing :-) It's just part of my M.O. to be identified in the videos with the cap turned the unconventional way - as you may have noticed in our other YT videos. My 911 is model year 1973 also... I like it since 1986 when my father bought it
Hey @motorfab - thanks for your comment and yes, 1973 911 is my favorite year. Just a standout year for the last of the F-series 911 with black horn grills, black trim around the turn signals and brake lens, a square outside rear view mirror , rubber bumpers, etc.. Hope you enjoy some of the other content we have on our YT channel - thanks again - cheeRS
@Richardsdelegance for Europe no rubbers bumpers You can see chrome type on the mine yellow T 😉🖐
Hey @motorfab7014 - interesting, safety standards in Europe must have been different then the US market back then. I know the US market in '72 and earlier had chrome bumpers with a rubber insert in the middle, but Euro had all chrome - thanks for the info - cheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance ciao Richard, scusa scrivo in italiano perché il mio inglese è troppo elementare.
I had a 1972 911S silver, black, sunroof coupe, had the engine built to the 2.7L RS specs with RS space cam for the MFI, sport exhaust with the dual tail pipe, the 1972 was the rarest of this generation, the oil tank was in front of the rear wheel to help with weight distribution, only year because gas station attendants would sometimes mistake it for the fuel tank, biggest car mistake of my life selling that car in 1991…
Hey @SmartFirstPrincipleThinking - wow, the '72 911S that you owned, sounds like she was a beauty and the 2.7 specs with the sport exhaust must have sounded great. Not sure if you noticed on our YT channel, but I also have a '73 911S coupe in silver and black, just like the one you had. She's got about 74,000 original miles with the OEM 2.4L MFI, and as you mentioned, the '73 911 model year moved that oil fill spot - back in the engine compartment. Thanks for checking our new YT channel - appreciate it - cheeRS

Bought for 10k. Somehow I suspect it's worth a lot more now.
Hey @Hannib4IBarca - thanks for checking out the video and ya, 10 grand then, but gotta think maybe $125,000 today. Hopefully more as the original owner and with the original color that was only repainted once back in 1991 and mostly original interior. Either way, she'll be handed down to the family when that time comes - thanks again and cheeRS
@@Richardsdelegance she's a beautiful car, and I really enjoyed the video. Fingers crossed one day I will be able to own one myself.

Nice vid well put together... 02, 3.2 liter six speed, 986 Porsche Boxster S over here with Fabspeed Exhaust, CAI, catless headers, IPD Plenum/TB, Numeric shifter, Bilstein performance shocks, H&R lowering springs, BBS Sport Classic rims (silver) etc... Not too much unlike your Spyder RS... minus the 4.0 liter GT3 engine but WITH a Numeric shifted 6 speed!! 😁 You got allocated for a Spyder GT4 thus you must have some serious history with Porsche... bought mine used and replaced/upgraded virtually everything!
Hey - @original2758 - sorry for my delay, but thank you for your compliment about our video productions - I've got a great Team for pulling it all together. Sounds like your Boxster S has got it going on with a whole lot of excellent mods, and seems like you've been kept busy with your project. I did purchase two other new Porsches from Champion in Pompano Beach, FL before I got the allocation for the 2024 Spyder RS. So, that's how I was able to secure the allocation. Question though - a bit confused when you mentioned 'Spyder GT4' - did you mean Cayman GT4??? CheeRS
Any interest in selling that beauty? Wow.

How well does the Renntech Sport Mufflers sound on the E550? Just curious as that's one exhaust setup I can't seem to find examples on. Plenty of C63 or E63 AMG ones but not the 4.7 bi turbo. And was that all that you did exhaust wise to that one? I have a 2016 E550 coupe in crystal grey and looking to replace the front two resonators with an X-Pipe followed by the Renntech Mufflers and a tune so was curious.
Hey @Marz78963 - thanks for your comment and the exhaust note change with the Renntech SS muffler is subtle with a more prominent note on the cold start and, that was the only change to the exhaust we made. It's been 12 years since the mods with Renntech, so I cannot quite remember what the OEM exhaust note under load, sounded like. Gotta think though, replacing the resonators with the X-Pipe is gonna bring you a huge difference - If your gonna use the Renntech muffler, have you reach out to them with your question on how much the X-Pipes will change the sound of your exhaust system? Thanks again for reaching out - good luck and cheeRS

Now I see the tires, I like it better. How many 914 have you seen, this is spectacular.
Hey vallanddess - thank you so much for you comment about my '73 914. And yes on the tires, as the video mentioned - I wanted something that'll come up to temp a bit quicker then a summer tire, for a little more spirited drive. She is a stand alone little 914 and ya - ain't gonna see another one like her. Thanks again and hope you enjoy some of the other videos on our YT channel - cheeRS
In 1982 I bought a 72 911T with S appearance option including front and rear sway bars mechanical injection, A/C and deep 6 Fuchs . At the time I was doing custom paint work on sports cars and muscle cars. I bought it from a auto salvage yard it needed a fender a hood and a complete paint job, someone had painted black was originally orange. It had 80k miles on the odometer cost was $2,500. I thought I was going to flip cars and get rich, lol. I took the car apart to do a color change to, of course guards red. All my friends bugged me to put turbo flairs or at least SC flairs on. I just liked the look of the car as a narrow body with the deep 6 wheels and did not flair the car. I did not know much about 911 other than the basics, flat six engine so on so on. I remember as I was removing the doors and all the chrome for paint, I could not figure out who would put chrome fender moldings on a Porsche? I figure that they must be aftermarket and tossed them. A mistake and Years later I learned of the option S appearance and the difference between T E and S, and factory wheel arch moldings. At completion I had close to $5k invested. Put it up for sale for $10k. No one wanted at that price due to it not being a S or not a turbo look. A couple of offers for about $8k That would have put my wage at about $5 per hour and at that point I said to myself I will keep it before I basically give it away. I still have the car and now I see that many people now understand what these narrow body cars and a motor that you don't have to turn high Rpm all day. Glad I held my ground and kept it as I liked it.
Hey - @letsride2057 - sorry for my delay, but thanks for taking the time to tell me the story about your '72 911T. And, good on you for keeping her a narrow body - a lot of Porsche owners of the earlier 911's did enjoy doing either the SC flare or the turbo flares or the '73 RS flares, but for the purist - narrow body is the way to go!! Even though as the original owner of my '73 911T Targa, I did make some modifications, as you may have seen on our YT channel a few months ago. I still have though, as you may have seen in the YT 'Introduction', the '73 911E and the '73 911S as narrow body Porsche still. And yes, the chrome fender moldings did come stock on the T, E and S. Only the purists understood the need to leave the fender moldings alone - even though, most all those early 911 owners, did remove them at some point. Don't fret about not keeping them - I didn't keep mine either, after we did the mods. back in 1991. You should be able to still purchase in the after market - like at Stoddard Porsche or Pelican Parts. And , good on you again for keeping her after all of these years - if my math is right, you've had her for 42 years - excellent!! Thanks again for your comment and checking out our YT channel - CheeRS
This might be, no, this IS the best PTS color Porsche has ever made, bar none 🏎
Well now @williamjackson5357 - even though we have never met or communicated before, I think I love you :-) as a figure of speech. And yes, you are right about Porsche's PTS paint code 415-9-2 Sepia Brown - is certainly my favorite, being that I have 3 Porsches in Sepia Brown (please see previous post on YT). First offered by Porsche in 1969 -1973, not a lot of people were attracted to this color, but a few years ago, Porsche reintroduced this special PTS color back in 2022 for the Boxster models and then was offered in 2023 for the 911 models. So, thank you so much for your comments about this special color and "...bar none" it is the best color that Porsche has ever offered - appreciate it - cheeRS
Dude!, you gotta love an Old School LA Brat! Love the Carmel Brown;)
Hey Sparky245 - and yep, an L.A. brat all the way!! I miss those simple times back then, but nothing stays the same - just look at the technology changes with Porsche over the last 50 or so years. The Sepia Brown color was not the most popular back then, but I think the market has grown to appreciate this unique color. Thanks for your comment and CheeRS
Beauty, you lucky guy ! I got the spyder in chalk ,manual.
Hey @waltvancourt5052 - thanks for your comment and always pleased to hear from another 718 Spyder owner. Love the chalk and certainly a manual is the way to go - wish Porsche gave the Spyder RS a manual, but we're told it would not fit??? Not sure why, because our 718 Spyder's offer the manual, but not the RS - maybe an issue with the GT3 style motor? Thanks again and CheeRS
Beautiful Spyder RS. Congrats!

10k was worth 70k in current dollars.
Hey @Valvey789 - and yep, on how things have changed in 51 years!! Little own the dollar value of a vehicle back then, life in general in today's terms, is way more expensive then our lifestyles back then. Thanks for your comment and CheeRS
Early 70s Targas are my favorite 911s of any model from any era.
Hey @erichstevens3246 - and person after my own heart :-) There is nothing like driving the old analog style 911 F-series, with the long front hood and more - they just don't make them like that anymore. And then, to be able to remove the top, fold it up - put in the trunk or backseat and enjoy the Targa style 911. Thanks for checking us out on our new YT channel - CheeRS
Probably one of the most satisfying moments in life if you are lucky enough to order and deliver a new Porsche. Fantastic and legendary color.
Hey @rtsmith3921 - sorry for my delay and thanks for your comment! After the purchase of my new '73 911T Targa - that was the last new Porsche I purchased until 2022 - 49 years later I had the good fortune to buy new the 718 Spyder, then in '23 the Sepia Brown 911Targa 4 GTS and now the '24 Spyder RS in Sepia Brown too. And yes, a legendary color for Porsche - not the most popular, but I luv it - obviously :-) Thanks again and hope you enjoy our YT channel - CheeRS
had a 73.5 T. could never solve the "hot box" issue. regret selling it to this day
Hey @MW-gi1tr - sorry for the delay and gonna guess your talking about the 1973.5 plastic air box that kept blowing a hole in the box because of the pop-off valve? Yep, went thru 3 different boxes if I remember - The factory (blew two of those), then a reinforced plastic rib and then a metal lined air box, which solved the problem for me. Can't remember if Porsche did something to help relieve that back pressure too. Thanks for checking us out - hope you enjoy the other videos - CheeRS
Just watched for the first time, great car Richard, long time 914 enthusiast, great to see one that exemplifies what all these cars should have been back in 73.
Hello @johnschildhouse5198 - sorry for my delay and thank you so much for checking out our YT channel and the video on my special '73 914. As you heard in the video, she is a very unique little 914 and was super lucky to have found her thru the help of Lou Malone with AJ-USA in San Diego. We did have the 1970 - '71 914 -6 narrow body and certainly the GT 914-6 with the fender flares (a classic), but your right - would have been nice if Porsche continued a higher performance 914, but with the oil embargo in '73 Porsche had to produce a more economically viable 914. Thanks again and hope you enjoy some of our stuff on our YT channel - CheeRS
i know a guy who had it´s early 70´s RS on a agricultural warehouse with only a not that big round window on thick walls ,one morning he went to work and the body was there , only.

what a nice targa , i only had the 74, 911 with the 2.7 engine ended up never having a targa,(not counting the vwporshe) but the wheels are the same as they are famous ,nice work keeping it nice all this years
Hey @RUfromthe40's - sorry for the delay - the '74 G-body 911 with the 2.7 is a nice combination and thanks for the compliment on my '73 911T Targa. One of the loves of my life and for 51 years - CheeRS

The dookie Porsche
OK @Alejandro_Bonilla - time to grow-up and not be so childish with you comment. And maybe - it's time for ya also, to move on to another forum and not bother us with silly remarks - good luck!!
What a gorgeous PTS color
Hey @diascell - thank you so much for checking out the video and yep, the Sepia Brown is my favorite. Some my not think so, as per a few of the childish comments, but I've been in love with that color, ever since I bought my new '73 911T Targa. With the '23 911 Targa 4 GTS and now the '24 Spyder RS - gonna guess I might be the only one in the World with that combination. Please check out YT channel for more stuff - thanks again and CheeRS
i work at a Porsche Centre in northern Wisconsin and have to say i'm a little jealous of Champion Porsche lol
Hey @liam6829 - and yes, I am fortunate to be only about 45 north of Champion Porsche and just around the corner per say, is Champion Motorsports. The demographics of Miami and FT. Lauderdale has Champion as one of the largest in the Country. Don't be jealous though - you work at a Porsche Centre, so your way ahead of most other Porsche people. Thanks for checking our video and CheeRS
My first time finding this channel. Some really odd hater comments here. I guess I'll stick around for a while to see if any of them are deserved. Lol. I love the color, and it seems like this guy is getting undeserved hate. I am curious how tall feel about the removal and install of the top. Seems to be pretty unanimous that's the top absolutely sucks to remove and install. 😅
Hey @helimx - thanks for checking out our channel and we are the new kids on the block with only about 4 months under our belt - so appreciate you tuning in. And, yes I'm learning on an open forum like this, your gonna gets knuckleheads that only wanna just make negative comments, but I think on an overall basis we've gotten some wonderful people making some positive comments. The removal and install of the top is really not to bad, I'm sure you've checked out some of the YT videos. The goal for Porsche was light weight (a goal for all RS's) and if I'm correct the top for my 2022 718 Spyder is 30 pounds heavier. The design is really ingenious for Porsche, because it's so simple and with just a few steps the top can be taken on and off with just one person, but 2 people works also. And, just try and ignore those negative thinking people and please continue to check us out - CheeRS
You think about all the engineering brain power that went into designing, building and manufacturing this beast. Much respect to the geniuses at Porsche in Stuttgart Germany. Without them, we would be unwrapping lollipops.
Hey @dfend451 - '...engineering brain power...' yep, there is no greater sportscar manufacture in the World then Porsche!! Ain't nobody does it better then Porsche and a perfect example is the 2024 718 Spyder RS!! It is a perfect example of Porsche's engineering perfection. I'm still in the break-in period, but can't wait to let her run here in the flat, straight and boring roads of South Florida - don't got any canyon roads here, but maybe a run down to the Florida Keyes at 180 mph might get the blood flowing :-) And, ain't no lollipops here - just pure Porsche breed technology - CheeRS
She’s pretty. Congrats!!! The Sepia Brown looks a smidge different than her 1973 relative. ?
Hey @user-vt9je9jxf4 - thank you so much for your comment and ya, she is pretty sexy - can't wait to get to that 9,000 rpm to hear her scream :-) Yep - and good eye on the color shade difference - the '73 back then, used a Glasurit single stage paint with a clear coat and when she got her only re-painted back in 1991 - we used the same process. Porsche's current technology uses again a Glasurit (manufacture - BASF), but a water based paint or waterborne product - check out their website. So - yes, they're is a shade of difference between the earlier application to the modern day technology - Sepia Brown Porsche paint code 415-9-2 - thanks again - CheeRS
I didn't know what sepia Brown is that's almost like a football color it's strikingly beautiful. Congratulations on your success. Don't know why you're hat is on backwards. You're 65 years old, but whatever.
Hey @rodneypratt4324 - and Sepia Brown was first used back in 1969 thru 1973 and a few years ago Porsche brought that color back, thru their PTS (paint to sample) program. And, too funny about the cap - I wear the cap backwards, because it's kinda of a M.O. for me, when doing the videos. And, thanks for the compliment about my age - actually I'm 71 years young - thanks for your comment - CheeRS
Chrome or silver wheels and accents would be fire with brown. Black is way over bruh
Hey @bryansimmons4020 - and my goal with the satin black forged magnesium wheels, was to match my '23 911 Targa 4 GTS, so when side by side and both in Sepia Brown - it would make for a great photo shoot. - stay tuned on that - CheeRS
Best bittersweet milk chocolate candy bar ever…!
Hey @JJL206 - interesting comment and actually spot on. In the past when I would try and describe the color, I would use a candy store back in California called See's Candy that had two suckers on a stick - one was dark chocolate and the other was a light caramel color, which was really close to the Sepia Brown. So, kinda funny about your candy bar comment - thanks for checking out our latest YT video post and stay tuned for a few reels on the new car detail, over the next day or two -CheeRS
seems like dealer did the pdi and rewrapped the car. the front spliter along with a few other plastic trims are shipped inside the car. They also need to remove the suspension from transport settings
Hey @blendlinegarage42 - and sorry for my delay in replying to your comment. Per my request to the Porsche sales rep at Champion, I asked them not to unwrap the Spyder RS so we could do the video of the unwrapping for our YT channel. The vehicle was not unwrapped and a partial PDI was performed by inspecting the undercarriage and hooking up a diagnostic to confirm there were no default codes that needed to be cleared or reset. They did the diagnostic by unzipping the driver door wrap, in order to access the hook-up for the diagnostic equipment. I also did not want the dealership to do the new car detail, because she went to K2 Motorcars here in Jupiter for the paint correction, PPF and ceramic coating. And, if I may - there was no front splitter or other plastic trims inside the car - they may do that on other Porsches, but not this one and not sure what your talking about with you mention 'remove the suspension from transport settings. Thanks for checking out the video -CheeRS
satin aurum wheels would put this over the top
Hey @MW-gi1tr - thanks for you suggestion, but the satin aurum wheels would be a bit to much bling for me. My goal with the satin black was to match the '23 911 Targa 4 GTS, so when side by side and with the Sepia Brown paint theme - the wheels would also match the overall look of the 2 Porsches. Thanks again and CheeRS
Thanks for the video. Did you request that the dealership does not remove the wrap? And do you know if every Porsche comes wrapped by default from the manufacturer?
Hey @silverlover5817 - and yep, special request to the Porsche Ambassador (salesman) at Champion not to unwrap her so we could do the video in our own space and time. A note was placed on the outside of the wrap and inside the car saying, 'do not remove wrap or perform PDI' (pre-delivery inspection). No PDI because I wanted a professional detail company to do the paint correction, PPF and the Modesto Ceramic Coating. With Porsche having to ship vehicles by boat, I believe most have some form of protection, but gonna guess the high end models get a full wrap like the Spyder RS. Thanks for checking us out and stay tuned in the next day or two for some short reels on the detail work - CheeRS
My, oh my! Sepia brown, is it? Beautiful on both 911s. Cheers!
Hey @cwp01 - thank you so much for your comment and if you would like to check out the story on the Hagerty online publication - it's: www.hagerty.com/media/automotive-history/porsche-911-vs-porsche-911-a-half-century-apart/. Appreciate the comment and checking us out on our YT channel - CheeRS
😎
Thanks @john.1585 - for the cool dude emogie and checking out our channel - CheeRS
Wild color!
Thanks @sg618342 - yep, it is a different color that Porsche has come up a long time ago. In previous replies, I mentioned that Sepia Brown was first used on the 911's from 1969 to 1973. And, if I'm correct paint code 415-9-2 was brought back in 2023 for the 911 models. Please check out the other videos on this channel that has two of my other Porsches in that same color - CheeRS
I'd have had it delivered to my local detailer for unwrapping and paint correction. Great color !!!
Well @siddiqahmad5193 - our goal was to unwrap her at my storage unit, so we could bring to you the video of the unwrapping, while also being able to see the home she'll be staying in. I couldn't do that at K2 Motorcars here in Jupiter, FL., a 60,000 sq ft storage/rental facility that also has a full detail service department. In the next few days, they'll be 3 short reels of exactly that - paint correction, PPF install and a ceramic coating application - stay tuned and thanks for the comment on the color - CheeRS
Should keep the Trojan on for total protection.
OK @hernanhernandez3861 - way too funny, can't stop laughing on your suggestion for that '...total protection' :-) I do prefer the lamb skin style though, but that may not work for Porsche or the lambs - thanks for the laugh and checking us out on YT - CheeRS
Please sell this exact car to me in 10 years, or whenever you want to sell it. Thanks in advance
Hey @vasco7819 - OK, I'll make a note to reach out to you in 10 years or sooner - if I were planning to sell. OR - maybe NOT :-) Just joking, as I know you are, but I ain't selling this collectable and gonna be handed down to my family when that time comes - but good try!! Stay tuned for a few more posts soon about the 718 Spyder RS - thanks - CheeRS
