We're builing a DIY play house for our daughter, but as our carpenter Benoît gets involved, the scale changes, and it turns out to be become for of a Tiny house.

My dad built my playhouse for my 6th birthday. I'm now 67 years old and recently inherited my childhood home. My playhouse is still in amazing condition. Every person who has worked on my house gravitates to it and are amazed that it was built like a real house. It has a foundation, working windows, electricity and a brick patio. My project for spring is to have it refurbished so it will last another 60 years. I know the girls will love their house. Take care of it and it will be there for your grandchildren.

Glad to see Benoit is back and not limping. Bravo. Also liked his right angle trick. Lilly is very lucky to have such creative parents! How you fit this in among all your other jobs is incredible. Looking forward to seeing the finished playhouse! The girls will love it for years to come. I am guessing the essential things were missing at the shop, a guard for the blade and goggles. I've used a table saw and mine had a guard and I pushed the cut piece away with a long block of wood. Philipp, you may have noticed Benoit is missing part of a finger? You and Nathan should not push wood away from a rotating blade. Ever. Even as a joke for a video.

The interactions between Philipp, Benoit and Nathen are always wonderfully entertaining. Really enjoyed watching the beginning of this interesting project. Anna, I have a feeling you may be in for some more painting. What a great present for Lily!

I think Phillip as been deliberately keeping them off screen because their star quality is so overshining.
The kid's cabin looks like a lot of fun. It's nice to see a chateau that is kid friendly with places to run and play, explore and, of course, has a play house. Someday, if you get really ambitious, consider putting a secret miniature fairy castle in the forest. And, you could put a treasure map (castle map) in the chateau - perhaps framed and mounted, kid's eye level - in the chateau.

No! I wanted more. The suspense of waiting a week is going to kill me. I know it's going to be a fantastic playhouse. I cant wait to see the finished work of art.

Anna really knows how to get him to clean up an area. On top of that I bet the daughters are getting wonderful training in wrapping Dad around their little fingers as well as getting the greatest birthday present 🎁 !! Good job, Dad! Dad has a wonderful mentor in training for expert woodworking .

I was thinking it ironic that Lily wants a space of her own given the size of the chateau, but I suppose not so surprising given the main chateau is under constant restoration.
My dad build me one when I was little. It was a little up in the treas with one big trea in each corner. I really loved that little house and I will for ever have so many nice memories from there.
Very good idea to build this house for your children. Something for them to really love.

Love the video, my only concern is securing the structure to the ground. A big storm with big wind could send the structure flying, causing damage to your property. We built one around the same size and a big storm with straight line winds of 70 mph turned the structure into a flying missile. It turned the structure into a new wood pile and damaged structures on our property. The next one we built we set the posts in concrete. Never underestimate the power of mother nature.
Absolutely agree with you. Mother Nature can be very fierce.

Absolutely agree, without posts in concrete the next bigger storm will destroy it. 😢
My sister and I looonged for one of these as children! Going to the garden centre to look at the summer houses and pretend we could bring one home was our favourite thing to do. Many happy memories will be made here, I'm sure of it!

As someone who grew up only knowing city life (no grandparents or relatives in the country side), all I can think about is how wonderful it must be to grow up in such a picturesque environment with so much to explore and experience! Their childhood will always be tied to beautiful scenery and scents of nature, lucky kids

The 3-4-5 Triangle is a very good tool for making 90 degree angles. Benoit knows what hes doing ! Well done !

Actually the groves on the deck planking are there for drainage...they are to be placed down so water can dry under the board instead of keeping the wood constantly wet and rotting faster....

I have to say o really had no confidence in Phillip clearing the brush away once he got on that ladder. I was sure Anna was gonna have to step in. But he pulled it off in the end! Amazing progress so far! ❤️❤️

When my girls were little their dad built them a play house complete with an upstairs. My girls loved playing in their little house. Your girls are going to love it❤️
I can’t tell you how this warms my heart. When my father was building the house, he saved the shingles and such because he intended to build a matching wee house for me in the back yard. Sadly he died before he could do so (I was three, now the grand old age of 71). I shall watch with great anticipation to see the finished product. Also, glad to see the return of Benoit and Nathan especially who is such a good sport! Congratulations on being such wonderful parents, Philipp and Anna!

I love watching the building techniques. Here in the US we cannot put wood straight on the ground. It has to be on concrete pads so the wood will not deteriorate. Can't wait to see the finished product for sweet Lily.

I live in the United States and I have an extension pole chainsaw. It's a little chainsaw that is run by electricity and can be used by itself or easily attached to a pole that extends out and locks so you can reach limbs. Someone should scold Philip for standing on the top of that ladder - that's a No-No- I think it should be me so.. Philip! Stop that! LOL 😁
My girlfriend calls it the "Chainsaw of Death on a Pole" and swears I am going to cut myself in half when I cut thru a branch and it comes free
@@zach16 Funny you should say that because I was trimming the limbs off a tree that hung over my house and I looked at this one I said well that's not that big so I cut it. Damn thing fell like concrete, fell off onto the ground and took my ladder with it. I didn't want to chance hanging the roof to the ground - it was a back porch so I took another route. The neighbors across an open lot we're working on their house all week and I knew they were over there so I screamed my head off! Help! Help! Hey! So as to make sure they heard me and they told the homeowner and she and the workers came over and rescued me. Now I take my cell phone up with me lol!

I know exactly what I'd do with a tiny house, I'd have my mother in law live in it so she could move closer to us and her grandkids. We'd need to find some land to buy or rent but it looks like something she'd love to live in! My kids would be sooooo happy to have Oma ( grandma in Dutch) living closer so they can see her more.
It is going to be beautiful. I predict many wonderful memories for your girls in there. I had a playhouse as a girl, built by a family friend. My siblings and cousins spent countless hours in ours, making mud pies, serving "fast food" out the window to neighborhood friends, and also pretending it was a post office. Some of my fondest childhood memories.

Is that just wood resting on dirt? Without proper footing that will settle unevenly, or worse, rot and make the whole place unsafe! We had a mess up like this with a fence (fence post wasn’t secured into concrete) and within 3 years it had rotted and fence was falling over. Keep those kiddos safe!
I have a feeling the play house might just not be for Liliy alone.....Some big adults might be using it to! 🤫😁🤩😄

So good to see Benoit is feeling good! Look forward to what the girls devise in the playhouse. Wish I could attach photo of the playhouse in my garden. It has exterior stairs (4 )that lead up to the "second floor" --- in other words, UP to a exterior passage way around the back of the playhouse giving out to a yellow slide!
This is such an awesome creativity and art coming together and making something special and unique. This is truly something I need to see from you, myself I have been thinking, dreaming, and wanting to take the steps towards creating something like this. However, life kinda kept getting in the way or better to say I made poor choices and mistakes and paid the price, but finally I am on the right track to regain all the control over my life which I am very proud of :) Your videos are helping me to be inspired, pushed, and acknowledged about the ups and downs which is a huge benefit, and I'd like to thank you for it.
