@@animefan1836 if you’ve played the game, then you’d know David was gonna die regardless. And Becca, maybe she would’ve survived but she was always gonna be a ride or die choom for David coz that’s who she was. Unrequited love or not.
@@animefan1836 David had no chances of surviving Adam smasher, the only reason why Lucy survive was because his orders were to eliminate David. If his orders were eliminate everyone there then Lucy would be dead too. Nobody died a pointless death, if you knew the cyberpunk story then you would’ve known from the beginning that no edgerunner would live to see their own legacy. Few do and when they do they’re no legacy.
Its sad when you realize that Lucy got what she wanted, but she lost what she needed

Morelike Lucys dream changed from going to the moon to being with David but he didn't realize and accidentally ruined the whole thing by being stuck in what he thought she wanted, honestly I was really impressed with how human the characters of the show ended up being

I heard about it when it came out and avoided it cuz most mainstream shows are always dogshit aids, but I gave it a chance because I saw a fanmade drawing of Lucy and I said, holy shit she's hot as fuck. Watched the show and it easily became one of my top 10 for the raw emotion it pulls from you. actual solid show.

When David and Lucy got together, Lucy's dream also changed. It was no longer going to the Moon, it was to be with David. That's why you can see her smile when seeing David at the end and then saddened after realizing he's no longer with her. Personally I like and hate the ending. On one side I just wanted both of them to be happy on another this ending felt real. If you play the game, you'll know that there are no happy endings for people like them in Night City. This anime truly deserved the Anime of The Year award.
There's also a positive way to look at the ending. Early in the series they talk about how Edgerunners are remembered by how they died, and yet, Lucy can only remember how David lived.

I love how everyone is so surprised how violent and ruthless Smasher is, while this was like 5% of the Smasher described in Cyberpunk lore...
The man literally is a walking genocide, a slaughterhouse god, the graveyard filler - since the first corporate war, he's been the only merc they've found to take that level of upgrades and still remain in control; not sane, i doubt he was ever sane

Fun fact: in the tabletop when the game master wanted to end the session he would simply send smasher in to kill the entire team. He's not supposed to be beatable

Smasher wants to either convert or obliterate. He wants humanity to go full Borg or die. He just stays with Arasaka as a mercenary because it's best position for him to fulfill his obsession. Only thing is he fucked with the wrong people, he intervined in Johnny's destiny and got fucked in the process.

David Played Cyberpunk in hardest difficulty with Hardcore Mode. So dont compare Two different Things. Also V got the relic which makes him/her immune to cyberpsychosis.

With Smasher's Fight revampt, the Cyberware System being overhauled so that you actually need Chrome for stats and get penalties for using too many implants and stats being removed from clothing, i'm pretty sure, V could not beat him Chromeless any more lol
@@michelhese9417it doesn't matter how much implants you have, it's hoe your body reacts to it, V before installing the chip can have alot of implants still, top military grade shit, so the chip doesn't really effect how he reacts to implants. He's just built diffrent

I love Rebecca with all my heart but the moment that really got me bawling is that small glimpse of happy David. Like, I don't know why but that is an absolutely nice touch. Without it I woulda held my tears on but when he popped like that. The damn just broke and I bawled alone at home.
Its pretty cool that the new DLC has a few skills dedicated to David's Cybernetic tolerance and (that I have seen) a single skill with Rebecca on the icon

it's pretty cool you can get Rebecca's shotgun she was holding and blow off what's left of Adam Smasher's face with it. it's still sitting where it dropped.
the shotgun perk is dedicated to rebecca, netrunner to lucy and edgerunners to david. if you have max edgerunners and have the new iconic sandy while in the cyberpsyho line in cyberware, you can hear david laugh like in this ep while using the sandy
The laugh yes is an easter egg to Davids laugh, but actually it's V male/female laughing. My female V laughs in you can clearly hear it. @@siddharthanand6882
actually came out with patch 2.2 was before the dlc dropped. they did the patch to revamp everything for the launch of the dlc.
damn, no matter how much i watched it the more painful it becomes. specially when the song starts playing. thank you allied, it was worth the wait!
It hits in unexpected ways too. Watched the whole series a whole bunch of times and for whatever reason I had an old song come back to my mind (Arash - Pure Love).
To scratch that itch I looked up the song and the lyrics and well, let's just say that song now hits like a truck. Just look up the translated lyrics (Arash being Iranian sings his part in Persian) and yeah, you'll see exactly why it made me think of Edgerunners
To this day I am still convinced that this show was never about david, but about lucy, and we watched through her eyes the life of david.
Yhh this anime is really similar to “Akame ga kill” literally same storyline and ending, where only at the end u discovered who was the actual main character

Anyone who played the tabletop game will know that when Adam Smasher turned up, there was a huge chance of a total party kill. His stats are so high, the only person to fought and survived him was Morgan Blackhand. Anyone else in any other game, regardless of how high their stats are, it's a bonified team wipe. Adam Smasher turning up in the anime was just a guarantee TPK, and it's only because of David's sacrifice that Falco and Lucy were able to surive.
And only one year later…Adam Smasher met his match when he faced the greatest solo Night City has ever seen…kinda poetic

@@Duallight-kw1nx Morgan Blackhand is not the best solo in NC…his greatest feat is nuking Arasaka tower with a team full of legends and going to a tie with Smasher…V killed Smasher and destroyed Arasaka without any help or a nuke while he was minutes away from dying…which arguably not even his greatest feat
@@donchi1234 Morgan Blackhand pioneered soloing. He wrote the book, quite literally, to compare him to a video game character that of course is going to have some crazy story line is silly. If were talking cyberpunk lore and the whose who, then Morgan Blackhand is the best solo that ever lived. But your entitled to your opinion.

You know what I noticed... For some reason, all netrunners dream of going to the Moon. Lucy dreamed because it was her dream that she tells David when when they got to know each other (Now there will be big spoilers for the Phantom Liberty DLC below, so if you haven’t played, please don’t read further)
Songbird had to fly to the moon because it was the only chance to survive. (V either) And it’s very interesting that the developers are concentrating so much on the Moon location. Perhaps the events of the sequel will partially take place there? Who knows, but this is a very interesting detail.
Same with another ending where V raids a space casino, strange that they focus alot on space
It's not strange. It's perfect. Humanity trying to escape its own filth dreams big. The moon is an allegory to Paradise, true freedom. Not even chrome can save us from ourselves and our suffering. Except for Adam Smasher he went full borg and didn't GAF.

From what I can tell I feel like it's a metaphor for "Getting away from all of it", like earth in the Cyberpunk universe is just kinda done, overtaken by the corps and crime, so they must think "Welp, guess I like my chances in the space vacuum more than here". Considering what everyone is willing to do and actually does to get away from all of the trouble, yeah, I'd rather take my chances with space.
Don’t worry guys Smasher will get his a year later by a bigger legend then David became

It's somewhat annoying they are expecting a second season where they can get a happy ending, that breaks totally the meaning of CP and Night City itself and most important, not all shows need to have as happy ending, IMO sad endings let a bigger mark in someone than a happy one.

I replayed the ending and dismantled smasher bit by bit after watching this, if there's an option to return his pain receptors and torture the heck out of him for the rest of his days, I will be sitting there just to watch him through his agony.
