Jimmy, a question here. How do you gonna protect your design projects? Is that you have to go through the application of IP every single time? thx;).

Any advice on how to make the mechanisms for prototyping? (how the blade clicks in) etc

Generally, you just yank it off an existing product, or if you're savvy, you make it in a CAD program and 3D print.

omg thank you for these! i'm thinking about switching majors to industrial design, i think i'd be a better product designer than architect, although i could do both i'm sure. how much math is required?

Hey Jimmy, first off i'd like to say I love your channel! its so insightful and informative I cannot thank you enough for your videos! however, I have a important question to ask you. I am currently a fine arts major and it is too late for me to switch my major to ID. MY college have different requirements for the ID major. I have taken modeling making, sculpting, computer art, wood shop, metal making, and drawling courses. I have always had a passion for creating new things but I want to start make products that I always dreamed of making for myself and for others. So my question is, Can I become a industrial designer with a fine arts degree or should I go back to school and study industrial design?

Duuude, you make my day! This series is all about becoming a designer WITHOUT SCHOOL. School is only there to help you become what you want to be. HELP YOU. You can become a designer without having to pay high price tuition if you can focus and create those products you "always dreamed of making". That is really the biggest part. Just do it. Develop that portfolio with those projects and begin freelancing and applying for competitions and jobs. Switch that mindset from "fine artist" to LEGIT DESIGNER.
