The fact that this man is not in the Country Music Hall of Fame is a complete and total travesty. C'mon CMA get off your asses and give ETC the recognition he so richly deserves!
It was very sad to hear of the death of Earl Thomas Conley, a criminally-underrated singer, songwriter and musician. At his peak and performing his best songs, there was no one better.
ABSOLUTELY THE TRUTH ... yes the tragedy of being "criminally-underrated" ... his passing is another tragedy but his legacy is eternal ... the enjoyment he created is beyond words !!!
@@brucewayne3602 - I was relatively new to country music as a committed fan back in the early 1980s, and Earl Thomas Conley was one of the artists back then who really turned me on to what could be done in the idiom. There's nothing wrong with pedal-steel guitars and fiddles, but he incorporated touches of R&B in his vocals and songs, and actually managed to chart a bit with cross-over recordings on the soul/R&B charts, which is almost unheard of for a country singer during that era. Yet, he kept his roots firmly in country. Brilliant artist, just brilliant.... he will be missed.
My gosh!! It's like I just found this gold!!! I always loved "Holding her , and lovin' you" but man! I didn't realize he had so many fantastic hits! What a joy to listen to . I just hope his life was filled with the same joy it gives me to listen to his music . Rest in Peace sir ! What timeless treasure!
As the Great Bum Phillips said about Earl Campbell, "He may not be in a class by himself but it don't take long to call the roll". Same goes for this guy.
Had alot of memories when I used to go to high school and practice after school at rodeo school too with other guys and gals. So thanks for your music Mr E,T,C. RIP you are not for gotten.

Man… back in the day every country singer had their own unique voice. Merl, Conway, Earl, Kieth…. Now you can’t tell them apart. The all sound the same. Voices, music, rhythm ect…
One of my favorite all time country music singers. From the moment you hear his voice it’s distinct and unmistakeable you are about to hear a classic. It’s a shame he wasn’t more recognized for his contributions to country music in the 80s.

RIP ETC. You changed many peoples life's with your amazing sound. I will always keep your music turned to 10. Hopefully we can meet up stairs one day and crank this song!!
@@RoseGold823 Correct, he wrote or co-wrote many of his songs. However, when covering songs written by others, he really made them his by his great singing.
Earl Thomas Conley...His music was out of this world. His voice....walala!!!! Mind boggling. Very handsome talented man.I play his music every day.His music has become an anthem in my house. He passed away 2 days after my birthday.I miss him alot.RIP ETC.
no one today in country music is as consistently good as the late ETC, amazing performer, always did fine show, and he is missed, 18 no. 1 hits in the 80s, incredible
Absolutely unmistakeable voice. Smooth as melted butter. Definately one of the most under rated singer song writers ever. Hes got more hits than a Bruce Lee movie.
I’ve heard a lot of country singers in my day and many that could sound just like the big stars but I’ve never heard anyone that sounded like etc ever. He was a true talent
I grew up with this man’s music I never get tired of listening to it ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is real country
You got that right! He is definitely one of a kind! He is really great!
My best cassette purchase for a penny. Remember buying two and getting one for a penny. ETC what a singer!!!

Isn't 21 straight top ten hits considered recognition?
@@Fruehauf-vh4nn No. It's success. He never got the recognition from the industry like her should have. King George couldn't touch him in the 80s
