My "Late Father" like "Mike Brewer" sold these Old Cars from 1970 till 1988. He was Chief
Salesperson, even before that in the mid 1960's, because He. like Mike, had the "Gift of The
Gab" or in Layman's Terms, could sell snow to Eskimos. I worked for him from 75 to 84.
And I must admit, I hated most of what the British Companies were putting out at the time.
Austin All-Aggro's, Boris Mairna's, even the Austin Princess which was anything but beautiful.
I did, However, Love the Rover SD1 in both 2.5 litre and the 3.5 Litre favoured by the Police
at the time. I also include the "Let's Pretend Mustang" Ford Capri, and even the MK3 Cortina
for its "Coke Bottle" styling, incidently, this was styled by a "Yank" from Detroit Michigan. A
Guy who worked for them at the time. But I Loved all the Yank Muscle Cars, when we were
at an Auction, the Mach 1's, Chevy Camaro's, Corvettes, even the 70's Trans Ams of the Burt
Reynold's "Smokey & the Bandit" series.

The same on the 205 GTI as that turned out to be a nail. I remember seeing loads of smoke billowing out on a test drive and tried to pass it off as a broken gear linkage. I bet the engine was changed off screen

Sombody mentioned elsewhere in the comments that the sale was staged. I personaly knew the "buyer" of the Porsche 928 (Rob) who was a friend of Mike and the then producers so this comes as no surprise to me. Edd had time and budget (£1000) constraints so he only did what he could within those constrains. That's just the nature of TV production with deadlines to meet.

I think probably the scrapping car scheme that was done in late 2000s has something to do with it.
People traded their perfectly running cars for new cars at a discount. Obviously these classics would get crushed then....
