tommyd237 I agree. The only show that actually shows you how it's done. I never used to watch the first 15 minutes anyway and the last 5 minutes didn't interest me cause they never used to tell you how long Edd been working on the car or factor that in with how much profit they were making. Edd good luck with whatever you doing.

I am definitely not a car guy, have little technical / mechanical skills but I loved the way Edd showed us what he was doing, why he was doing it, and how he went about getting the job fixed. And: explained things in a manner even I understood what he was doing! That, to me, is the true mark of a real teacher!

WHUFC71 Mr. China is definitely the backbone of "Wheeler Dealers". I'd like to see if Edd and his "mechanic mate" Paul, come up with their own automotive show. I'm not meaning another "car flip" show, but real mechanic repair work. I don't care if all the motors are European or whatever all cars basically work the same.

      Dear Ed,
Maybe it sound a bit strange, but what was already said is true: you àre Wheeler dealers,
I would like to thank you for making difficult things easy. Only the very best can do this!
I never understand the way Mike talked to you, he was spekking from an ivory tower, even a bit like his personal slave,
Dear Ed, I would like to wish you the very best in your life, please do what your hart is telling you tot do, and leave the rest behind.
And if you want to inspire more people to help other people, just give me a sign.
Every hour of my free time goes to people with a very rare and fatal lung disease. ( pulmonary hypertension) . I had it myself and I manager to survive, thanks to a dubbele long transplant.
I try to inspireour patients myself, I try to give them hope, I try to give them that feelings of being important in life.
So if you wanna help me a bit, let me hear from you.
We have more in common than we think: cars and inspiring people
I wish you all the best, you are a much greater inspirer than you think.

Edd's parts of the show were the best parts, explaining what it does, showing you how it works, suggesting preventive maintenance, going over the quirks and fixes that have been discovered over the years; Those are what made the show! Channels like Discovery, TLC, History, AHC, etc. have lost their way, and forgot what made their channels worth watching; I grew up watching these show, I almost became a history teacher because of it.
This video was very classy, didnt throw anyone under the bus, and even asked the WD audience to be kind to the new guy. To Ed; I tip my hat to you.

interesting to see how on Mike's explanation he basically says Edd didn't want to work, Edd was horrible to people, Edd was a problem, Edd thought he was too big for the show, we got rid of Edd - whilst Edd explains about production and commercialisation changes and thanks all the people involved with the show including Mike, without ever getting personal or slagging anyone off like Mike did, i think Mike is bitter because he's losing the most valuable asset of the show and the thing that allowed him to reap in the cash - i know who i believe and who acted with more integrity and who has the bigger skillset - Mike can do one, good luck to Edd is what i say! long live Edd!

    • @MyTruckstop
      @MyTruckstop 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Exactly, I wish Edd the best on his future. As far as mechanics on TV shows my two favorite are Edd and Roger on Chasing Classic Cars. Legendary Motor Cars tops my list as well. No BS, a natural sense of humor and probably 1,000 times the mechanical skills and total knowledge as many of these other hacks on some of the other car shows people have mentioned.
As many other people posted that there are so many other shows that are staged for ratings. Like no one has ever done a burn out etc. Some of the shit these other shows display as far as employees attitudes etc. would have them fired in a reputable shop. Again, good luck Edd.

Ed you are a true gentleman and someone I would trust with my car anytime. Sad that those in charge did not see what a GEM they had but decided to turn that gem into a brick. You said in 4 minutes what was the problem and your explanation for leaving is based on solid thoughts, facts, and ideas. Best wishes on all you do or have done since leaving. Ironically after his TH-cam channel went silent for months he now seems to agree, and has started posting excerpts of him working on the cars for Wheeler Dealers. 😂
Unfortunately for Ed the comments are entirely negative towards that, his fans want new content not watching partial reruns of Wheeler Dealers from when he was on the show. But just the parts of the show with him in it.

6B8RX Very well said . Such a stand up man Ed is . Most would take the money and run . I respect Ed for standing up for all the hard work mechanics and car builders do every day . The new WD format is horrible and way too often feed incorrect information . The two car shows i watched were Wheeler Dealers and Full Custom Garage with Ian Rousel . Sadly Velocity doesn't air it much anymore either due to the lack of drama . Sad when good shows get ruined for profit ! Best of luck in the future Mr China !

The very thing that made Wheeler Dealers my favorite, was all the detail that went into the actual fixes to the cars themselves, thanks to you Edd, not the ridiculous "deadline drama", that's involved in every other car show series. It just shows how out of touch with reality those Velocity execs are. Good for you Edd. I certainly appreciate your honesty and integrity. I look forward to following your career with great anticipation. Velocity and Discovery are a great disappointment to me and to most car guys who don't give a rip about the drama. God speed, Edd China!

+subtle7hunder62, I completely agree. When you look at the early episodes, what drove each program was the tricks, tips, and repairs (on the cheap) of each car. Having been a professional machanic for over 20 years, I absorbed and appreciated every minute of Edd time. He is one of the most talented and patient techs I have ever seen. His diverse skills are certainly envyable of any decent mechanic, and he knew his limitations as well, knowing when to hand a job over to those with the expertise in their field. I am now a subscriber of this channel and wish Edd the very best in the years to come.

I'm in the U.S and really loved this show. The only parts that I didn't mind missing were when Mike was doing his running around. Unfortunately when shows start to air in America they kill off a bit of their soul. I remember the same thing happened with Kitchen Nightmares. In the early seasons it was more about the cooking and turning the restaurant around. When it came over here it was all about the damn drama. I hate that some of my favorite shows come over to my county to just die. Good luck in everything that you do Mr. China. I hope to see you again soon.
