    I always style my trucker jackets with the bottom button undone when the rest is done up. It’s a style that originates from England where men riding horses and wearing waistcoats would leave the bottom button undone so it doesn’t ride up their torso when on horseback. It transfers to modern day use though with driving/sitting. Hope it helps a little.

    Great review my man, really appreciate all your thoughts and showing all the features so thoroughly. Wool liner would definitely be interesting.

    I sold Filson in the 90's and when it comes to tin cloth garments, I always told people to get a size larger because once you break 'em in and put additional wax coatings on there, those wrinkles and creases set themselves in for good and cause stiffness and ride up the length. Usually a "break-in" means it will give way, but with tin cloth it's a bit different. It's about the only time you go a size up with Filson because most of their casual wear and other items run big. My tin cruisers are almost 30 years old and after working in the oil patch and on the farm back in North Dakota, they've got a lot of character but are still in great shape. My gut just doesn't allow me to fit in those old tin pants of mine anymore though. Either way, I just bought this same short cruiser as you and normally in a similar Levi's trucker jacket I'd wear a medium (5' 9", 175), but I'm glad I took a large with this one.

      What does "short lined" mean? Is it a reference that it's cut short in length or the lining is short?

    I’ve actually ordered addition screw on buttons that match and measure in another inch and put a closer cuff button for tighter clasp at wrist. Then instal felt stickies on back side of buttons inside so my watch don’t go “dink” every time I move ! Haha. Works tho ! Great review man! 💪🏻

  • @Ives1776
    @Ives1776 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    You can order a rivet setter online and set those buttons on the wrist in a matter of under a minute. I went and bought one and it's super easy to add jean buttons to anything I want. It's fantastic.
    Oh and btw, that weird bunching when sitting can be fixed by unbuttoning the bottom button. I typically just leave mine unbuttoned.

      Agreed with your last statement. I don't think I've ever buttoned the bottom button on any of my truckers. Looks better too.

      I came to say this. The bottom button doesn’t add warmth. Doesn’t do anything. Always more comfortable open. I have a black tincloth and a rough out suede. Also, if you’re ever down in Seattle, you’ve gotta stop by the flagship. Heaven!

    I'm gonna say my dude, that jacket is a good size on you. I wouldn't go a size up. the bunching when you sit isn't a flaw, it's just how it naturally folds, and I wouldn't knock it for that.

    I just ordered one. I have lots of Filson stuff. I wanted this one to wear with a tool belt. My regular tin cruiser is too long to wear with a belt unless you go over top but then you lose the pockets. I’m interested to see the quality as most of my stuff has some age and is US made.
    Edit after your wool comment. I have a wool lined tin vest I wear in the shop a lot and I love it. They don’t carry it anymore tho. But I bought one of the tin work vests too. It’s quilted and lined with shelter cloth I believe. I like it too, and use it for more outside stuff with the wool collar.

    I’m 5.11” for 235, will need xxl for shoulder but it will look really wide on waist so I guess I’ll give up buying it
    You saved me the hassle to send it back

    Thank you for this video. You are right there are not a lot of videos about this jacket

    Thank for your video. I've totally in between a L and an XL and am thinking about keeping the XL. As for the sitting and bunching, unbuttoning that bottom button is key. It spreads the jacket when seated, flattening everything out - mostly. I also think it depends on the amount of flexion when in the seated position. When on horseback, for example, the position is much more upright and potentially less bunchy. But when seating in a car, the angle made by the torso and legs is much more acute, accentuated by leaning for the steering wheel. The Large is a perfect fit. Too perfect I think. If was all about style, I suppose I'd keep the Large. But, if I want to layer a little and I maybe account for some of the jacket shrinkage I've heard about, the XL might be the way to go.

    Unbutton the last button or even 2 when seated.. same as how a 2 way zippers came about, they were designed to help when seated on a horse or a chair. But honestly, you look great in that jacket.

    The reason for the slick sleeves is so that it doesn’t try to pull the sleeves of your shirt up as bad.
