    Just purchased this watch, again, because this was my first "real" watch. I had to sell it years ago due to difficult times. Now that my life is on the rebound, I wanted to repurchase this watch and experience all the memories and nostalgia. It really is a beautiful, elegant, and simple design that will ALWAYS be in style. Thank you for the review! Realistically, the price of this watch is well below what it could be... other makers that use the EXACT movement charge 3-5 times the price!! Just because the brand name is different!! 😂

    Thanks for review - in depth and great close up shots! I think I'd like to get one! imo one of the best looking dress watches for under 500. Also I like the fact the ETA has a day date and is 26k + beats per hour giving it a smoother second hand sweep.

    For the price, you're getting a very well made watch from a brand who's been around since 1853, Tissot pays attention to small details that really set their time pieces apart from other more affordable Swiss brands for me. Plus a lot of thought goes into their packaging.

      Thanks for watching! According to Tissot's website, the crystal is in fact "Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal" us.tissotshop.com/men-s-automatic-iii-classic-black-automatic-watch-2.html
      As far as the rear crystal, there is no specific indication one way or another on their site, it only specifies sapphire in regards to crystals. I'm a little reluctant to scratch test my crystal to check.

    Hi Walt, thanks for the in-depth review. I bought this as my first ever watch recently (20-something year old here); but the variation with the day at the 12 and date at the 6, and on a black dial.
    I am not that familiar with watches but i looked online that black dials are sportier vs white dials. Do you think this works on the wrist even in non-dress/non-formal settings? Once again thanks for the review

    I picked up another version this Automatic III at Joma Shop I have no display back same movement the main difference is that I have the full day of the week display at 12 o'clock and the day at 6 o'clock my dial is white also and my band is same. I could not resist the purchase at $199. Less than half what I paid for my LeLocal 10 years ago. Update only one issue so far the crown is so shrouded on top it makes it impossible to hand wind.

      Do you find the crystal on the Le Loche thin? I’ve been looking at one however a couple times a year I seem to knock my watch on a doorway or wall and wasn’t sure if the Tissot would hold up.

      @robc8468 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@j.craigh.3480 I have not had any issue with the Sapphire Crystal on the LeLocle I have owned the watch over 10 years and never babied the watch and would say their are no scratches I can see with the naked eye. The stainless steel case will scratch but small scratches will polish out with Eagle One Never Dull. I would avoid the leather band version or upgrade to an aftermarket band the original band looked OK when new but fell apart and had to be replaced. Overall it is a nice looking watch the engraved back is impressive for a $400/$500 watch. I don't wear it as much as I used to. So I use it more now for special occasions.

      @j78s5sdg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @TheVinkass
      @TheVinkass 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@j78s5sdg +29 seconds per day? That's a lot, maybe it got into some kind of magnetic field or something.
      I spoke with a watchmaker and he said that up to 15 sec a day is not too bad because some brands(like Seiko) have it written manuals as factory tolerance.
      Anyway, I was kinda disappointed by precision of automatic watches. Seems like quartz is rational choice these days, while automatic is more emotional.

  • @valueink
    @valueink 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would this be suitable as a daily wear or is it too dressy? Also, is there a reason you went for the white and not the black one? Is it more legible?

    • @EsVee650
      @EsVee650  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I certainly think it's appropriate for daily use, but that really depends on your personal style and what you're comfortable with. Because it's not a large dial and the bracelet is relatively restrained, nothing about it is too "flashy". I chose the white dial because at the time, I didn't have a white dial dress style watch. If anything, I would guess the black dial may actually be more legible.
      Thanks for watching!

    How do you manually wind the watch?

    • @EsVee650
      @EsVee650  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the crown fully pressed in/at rest, rotate it clockwise. You'll feel a sort of textured resistance as the crown rotates, indicating the watch is winding. It is somewhat hard to do on this watch due to the small, lightly textured crown.

  • @kitmi1126

    Just got the 2 tone version(steel&gold) of this watch. I cannot stop looking at it. Beautiful watch. Paid $590 after a discount and some added protection plans. Question, because it’s an automatic, how do I or should I stop tapping into the power reserve?

    • @EsVee650
      @EsVee650  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey irT, thanks for stopping by. This watch doesn't have a power reserve complication(Extra hand on the dial marking how much working time is left like a fuel gauge), so I'm guessing you're asking if it's ok to wind the watch and when/if you should? The answer to that question is yes it's fine to wind the watch. Often you will wind it after having not worn it for a while to get it working again. I wind till it's ticking again, then another 10 turns or so. Hope that answers the question, if not let me know.

    • @TheVinkass
      @TheVinkass 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EsVee650 can you overwind it, I mean turn the crown too many times and possibly damage something?

    • @EsVee650
      @EsVee650  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheVinkass It should not be possible to overwind, as automatic winding watches have a clutch mechanism. That being said, you should only need a few winds to get the watch going. After that, wearing it should do the rest.

    Im about to get this watch myself and I'm so excited! My only issue however is whether to get it on the metal bracelet or the leather band. Do you think the metal is the way to go? I had a chance to try the leather but not the metal. Great vid btw

    • @EsVee650
      @EsVee650  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I personally have always gone for metal bands, with the thought that it's much cheaper to buy a leather(or nato, silicone etc) strap later than to buy the metal bracelet from the manufacturer, and there are many more choices.

      +Rabih Saad It's definitely a more understated design, but that's typical of the dress style. I bought another dress watch that I think you'll find more interesting, planning to post a review Monday. My watch collection ranges in size from 39.7mm to 52mm. This is about as small as I can go, but again appropriate for the style. A 47mm dress watch would look a bit off I'd think. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Ven Madalogdog I assume you are referring to the squared flat plastic background to the Tissot 1853 text at 12 o'clock. If you check the images on Tissot's own website (or other myriad reviews), you'll see that it is the same. That part is not a plastic sticker, it's part of The dial, and the black text is painted/screened onto it. The finish and packaging, as well as the fact that this piece was purchased from an authorized retailer, all suggest that this piece is authentic. Thanks for watching!
