Unpopular opinion - I actually like Raj's clothes. I much prefer them to Sheldon's for a start, and he has the nicest haircut out of all of them by far.

These scenes that involve Raj's financial situation are ones that I truly hate tbh. His family is said to be between Bruce Wayne and Scrooge. That means his family is worth multi-billions. And then you have scenes where his parents complain that they are paying for his rent in the US. I think that the writers do not realize how much even one single billion is. (Watch Reckful explain how much 1(one) billion is for more context). They could literally be giving Raj 500k a year and for that to make even a dent in their fortune it would take over 100 years. (And yes I am also including his brothers and sisters).

But as an Indian I can assure u..his Indian parents and genes would never allow mindless spending let alone not knowing where his money is going! Even in Pasadena, that’s a decent amount. The apartment he lived in couldn’t have been more than 2k a month. His car was a sedan that probably retailed around 35k. Even if his utilities were higher than average he wouldn’t have bills the were higher than 2k total a month. And the man makes 10k a month. That gives him like 5k in disposable income.
If Raj’s car truly got around 7 MPG like he said or any similarly abysmal figure, that sedan would probably have to be a high powered import I’d imagine which would cost much more than the figure you chose at 35k. I’m not at all saying you’re wrong. However, I do think that the number you chose is very conservative and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was actually 50k or higher
@@10293 doubtful, the car is hard to identify from the show, but it looks very similar to a Mitsubishi Galant. Those retailed around 30k, but hasn’t been made since 2012. Regardless, even if it retailed for 50k, he isn’t paying much more than $500 a month. My point is, he is well within his means, if he just cuts out the luxuries like couples massages with his foo foo dog, etc.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Hollywood just uses a car that’s not really accurate to what they want to portray but at the same time isn’t overly important because it doesn’t play a large role or get seen very clearly. Basically, if he’s leasing something expensive, it can take a ridiculously high amount of his income monthly especially if it’s a lease with not very good terms which I wouldn’t be shocked if a dealer could con him into.
