As a Lions fan I have nothing but respect for the Vikings. They were every bit as good as their record. I was glad to see my team come out of that game with the win but it was very close. Well fought Vikings!
The only thing that they messed up with this is that call was intentional by Johnson. NFL Matchup talked about it. They do this with LaPorta, St, Brown, and even Williams at times. The WR motion confuses teams, especially within a fire zone blitz.
it was the first game that someone had an answer for Flores' scheme. Gotta give credit to Goff for a lot of it he made some helluva plays on 3rd down. I was at the game and it just felt like we couldn't get them off the field and when the Vikings late drive was a 3 and out punt i knew Lions were going to kick game winning field goal.
Lions fans here and gained so much knowledge I did hit subscribe and like. Much respect for Vikings as well, as an MSU Kirk Cousins fan. This excellent breakdown deserves repeated viewings. Really enjoyed it.
thats what I have always loved about Jared Goff. He never get fazed. He is like a rock. He could have 4 INT but still come back up and throw the next pass and have TD. Its awesome to see.
I think this victory says more about the Lions than the Vikings, as the Lions basically gifted two touchdowns (the blown fake punt and the Montgomery fumble) to the Vikes yet were still able to beat them.
6:56 In case anyone's wondering what that route concept is, it's Dagger. 5 completions this game for over 100 yards. 10 against the Packers for nearly 150. It's a problem when you have to respect the run or need to blitz to generate pressure.
I’m a Lions Cat. And I have nothing but respect for the Vikings. Always have. They are one of my favorite in the North. I’m still concerned about not having Hutch and Davenport. I was wanting another edge before Davenport was injured.
could you guys talk about how you guys break down film in the NFL? like is there a meeting schedule when you go into the oline room with the coach? I assume everything in the daily life in the NFL has a schedule, but who organizes the film? who prepares a meeting schedule of what you are breaking down? I would love to hear you guys talk about how you START preparing for an opponent on Monday mornings. thanks as always.
I have to wonder how much Cashman's injury hurt the Vikes D? And they really need to make a move before the trade deadline, for some interior D-line help.
Just proves to me more that Kwesi and staff are looking at beefing up our pass rush before the trade deadline after this Lions game. Man if we can get Lawrence that would be CRAZY
I think looking at Lawrence is a fool's errand. I don't think the Giants are actually going to trade him, and he's more expensive than I would like anyway. But you know who I think probably wouldn't be as expensive? Jeffrey "Big Jeff" Simmons, over on the Tennessee Titans.
I am not American, I don't live there I'm not exposed to the general sports media. When was the last time an Offensive Line got this much approbation? How far away are Decker, Glasgow, Ragnow, Ziegler and Sewell from all being household names rather than just Sewell?
That vulnerability in the middle against the pass has seemed obvious the last 3 games. "Fire with fire"? Blitzing against the QB who is the best in the NFL against that didn't seem like the best idea & I think the Vikings early success has gone to the coaches heads.
Coming out and jumping all over teams pisses them off before it demoralizes them. The last three games teams have taken away all the momentum from us going into the second half. 4th quarter was terrible. Maybe we should save the game plan for the second half. Kidding. Well kind of. 😅 Pace kept his momentum because of how well Cash was playing. We need more of that for 60 minutes 4 quarters. Sports is about momentum. Unless your like Darrisaw. I saw him getting beat then just pushed the guy to the ground as he was getting by him. LOL
Steal a "dub" the Vikings were gifted 14 pts. I'll admit Minnesota is better than I thought but the fake punt, easy 6 pts, and the fumble return is the only reason the score was close!!
Do a google search. There are some good football primers online that explain it. It's basically where the defensive lineman set up in relation the offensive lineman across from them. 0 tech is over the center, 2 tech is inside shoulder of the guard, 3 tech is outside shoulder of the guard,... until you reach 9 tech which is a wide set outside of the offensive tackle.
3 technique is when the DT lines up on the outside edge of the guard. 5 technique is when the edge player lines up on the outside edge of the OT. 6 technique is head up the TE
@@travisoshea Yep, that is a better explanation. Different coaches use slightly different number systems. But your explanation is better than mine. It is probably best to look it up on the net and see the diagrams.
Come on the refs took over the game in the second quarter the Lions were holding on every play, but they flagged Chandler for holding total rigged. One team plays downhill one team plays uphill. That’s how they do it with no calls on holding and it’s so obvious.
@@travisoshea if it was one on one across the board then Murphy would’ve stayed on the outside receiver instead of moving to cover St Brown in the inside
This is why I preach for the lions to run the damn ball. They have two of the best RB’s in the NFL. You keep running, the passing lanes will open up. You don’t have to be Ben Johnson to understand that. Use your strengths.

Best center in the league currently. Hes such a stud and great guy
Goff is really really good against pressure. He was under pressure all day and most QBs would have been cooked.

Zeitler’s injury definitely hurt the Lions OL. His backup had a couple holding calls and a false start in this game.
Cashman was really missed against their run game!
Why does Sirles keep saying Martellus with an R it’s driving me nuts

Great video!
That hit by Sewell will slow that guy down for at least 2 more games. Every team after playing the Lions lose, because they're so banged up.

I don't thing Gibbs had a single pass blocking rep in this game. It's not really his strength and honestly a bit of a tell when he's in the game.
Yes but 4 sacks with two fumbles (neither loss) 7 QB hits. 4 3 and out.
O yea they picked apart the D but they certainly didn't score much more than the Vikings in fact barley enough to steal a DUB !!

so think,
outside shoulder - odd number
head up - even number
inside shoulder - add i to the even/ head up number

Shred? You were a missed FG away from 2 games back of Vikes. It was a good competitive game. Goff played better than he ever has. Ever.
What does any of that have to do with Goff shredding the defense?
And Detroit was a fumble away from a 3 score win, you can spin "what ifs" any way you want.
