If we're talking "fumble luck," the Lions also had a fumble return for a TD called back because the offensive player had a foot out of bounds, and they had a Montgomery fumble returned for a TD go against them. I think the "fumble luck" was closer to even.

The rear angle not shown on TV was clear. He was in bounds when the ball was moving. It was a fumble. He was standing on the inner top of his foot trying to avoid going out so his heel and right outside portion of his shoe were not touching out of bounds until after the ball was already loose.

All this luck talk is so beyond silly to me. Anything that happens in any game like that isn’t lucky lol Mettelus made a great play on the ball punching it out and lions player would’ve to had Speedy not stepped out. Punching the ball out isn’t lucky.

One thing for sure. The Refs tryed to keep it close after we started to get a bunch of points. I know the Penalties were even but we got all of the penalties or most of them in the second half. If they didn’t call those penalties the score would’ve been very lopsided

Get so sick of this narrative. Bro just give the Lions their flowers. People always want to half ass give credit. If the Chiefs win by 1 it's the greatest thing. As far as what your saying about if this if that, it's about the win. We can do that to. On the Goff sack, if the defender didnt go to the face of Gibbs and they called it, we would have kept that drive going. If Montgomery didn't fumble, Minnesota wouldn't have been in position to make it close. The Viking are good but the Lions are better. And they won't win in Ford field unless we're totally depleted.

Rules committee needs to look at that massive loophole with the illegal formation not triggering the 10 second runoff at the end. Who's to say a WR who catches a pass with just a few ticks left snaps to another WR while the rest of the team who can't make it up to the line of scrimmage just get set 10-15 yards back and it only costs 5 yards?! Crazy scenarios to think about.

    • @timeskip16
      @timeskip16 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

On that same penalized play the Vikings effectively self-spotted the ball prior to the penalty.
Nailor catches the ball in the middle of the field. He runs and hands it to Bradbury. Bradbury gets in position and just... spots the ball entirely on his own -- on and over the 50 yard line, like almost a full yard ahead of where Nailor was downed.
I'm rewatching the play as I write this and I don't think the referee even touches the football until both teams are lined up at scrimmage with the ball already on the ground.
The ref pats Bradbury's hand like "eh, looks good to me bro, I'm not gonna be on ESPN lowlights for getting in the way of you guys trying to run the last play of the game!" And gives the ball a single slap on the side before GTFO'ing.
Section 2, Article 2 of the NFL officiating book states that a dead ball is ready for play when the ball is placed down by an official at the spot where the next ball will be put in play OR when the official signals for the play clock to start.
Don't the refs still have to spot the ball before every snap? They still have to mark forward progress, etc., no?! If not, why doesn't every offense just never give the ball back to the line judge and take their chances on a favorable self-spot thanks to an inattentive official?

    3 things:
    1. I hope Campbell stops doing these 4th down fake punt situations.
    2. Patrick’s elbow was clearly down before the ball came loose.
    3. I do agree they didn’t want to risk fumbling. Had Monty not fumbled, he woulda been the one running the clock out. Coaches knew he was having an off game, Gibbs was averaging well over 7 YPC, and they had full trust in their defense for the final 15 seconds.

To your point about Campbell on 4th Down. Sure, I can see your point, but I would argue that he's doing it more to instill and ethos and attitude than he is using it tactically. He COULD , perhaps, demonstrate slightly more discretion in where he chooses to use it relative to field position. But, I would argue that Campbell's use of 4thD plays exemplifies the progress the Lions have made.

Let's not shoot ourselves in the foot and let our guys do their job and not have to rely on trick plays during the bigger moments.

When they sold the up close angle on that the Defenders foot was never out of bounds and his cleat never touched the white part on the out of bounds mark well at least you couldn't tell if it touched the out of bounds Mark or not it was inconclusive so it should have never been overturned it should have stayed because that's what the original call was so Detroit got ripped off on a touchdown right there and a great play by branch

How many interceptions get dropped by the DBS in a given game? How many Defenders get rushed the quarterback and get their arm on them and then the QB happens to Slither off at the last second? And how many fumbles bounce back to the offense.
