Sad fact: The first Bond film to mention EMPs was A View to a Kill. Unfortunately it was about the use of microchips that could resist an EMP, which would mean that had continuity been a thing, the Golldeneye would have been little threat to London.
Interesting plot point: The helicopter they chase for the first part of the movie was specifically designed to be EMP resistant. This indicates that the military knew about the threat of EMP but considered it a circumstantial enough of a problem to have only hardened specific equipment/installations.
But then what? Do they continue with that setting for multiple movies until they decide to move back to the modern day or do they just continue moving the time period forward until it reaches the modern day? It may seem like a refreshing idea but it’ll come off as a bit gimmicky in retrospect

Fun fact, if no one else has already mentioned it: GoldenEye N64 had a secret emulator built into it, but it was disabled with the release and can only be enabled in an emulated N64. Rare were once Ultimate Play The Game, a UK-based developers for the ZX Spectrum back in the 80s. The Stamper Brothers made loads of iconic Spectrum games, and the emulator within GoldenEye plays nine (I think) of their top games from that era.
Havent come back to it since it released, but I remember loving the game and enjoying the movie enough to continue watching 007 movies that came after it. So Golden Eye succeeded in creating a fan of the movies going forward in the least. Whats the best Bond Parody? My favorite has got to be the Venture Bros "Assassin Nanny 911". Always hilarious.

And even that one is pretty entertaining (way more than Craig's last 2)
@@terryf6696 Lol, no. Skyfall was great.
No, The World is Not Enough is pretty shit too. Though I quite like Tomorrow Never Dies.
Tim Austin Well, personally, I like TWINE.
Edit: I also agree with Blyzer. I thought Skyfall was great!
TWINE sucks after the amazing opening. A lifeless and dull thriller with uninteresting villains and plot-twists.
I was in a movie with Pierce, he did it between Bond films. I was a 9 year old extra in "Evelyn" and also did stand in work for one of the main kid actors so I got to hang out in the actors waiting area a bunch. Pierce was either trying to sleep between takes or super nice to all us extras, he autographed anything we brought him like napkins or styrofoam cups. Super nice guy
Thats actually cute. That put me in such a good mood
Mention David Niven, then proceed to show a clip of Peter Sellers. Boys, c’mon
Editor Ben from Canada got to play GoldenEye for N64 in order to put this together. Dream job.
Really looking forward to Die Another Day, that is gonna be hilarious!
Buy me a pint!
Feels good to be represented
Havent come back to it since it released, but I remember loving the game and enjoying the movie enough to continue watching 007 movies that came after it. So Golden Eye succeeded in creating a fan of the movies going forward in the least.
Whats the best Bond Parody?
My favorite has got to be the Venture Bros "Assassin Nanny 911". Always hilarious.
An ejector seat on a helicopter?!? 😂
(That's about as brilliant as a screen door on a submarine!) 👍💦
The rotors are ejected first, then the canopy, then the seat. Not too many helicopters have this, but it is a thing.
Yeah, "@@paulwence648" they're made over in Poland, right?! 😇👍
@@twstf8905 Russian Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark"
Omg lol evidently pollock jokes are before your time, "@@paulwence648?" 😂
You could eject to the side, but then you wouldn't get that shot of the seat rising up to just short of the camera before starting to descend.
You guys totally hit the nail on the head with this review. I think it's the last good Bond film since it still has the feel of the ones from the 70s and 80s. I'd love to see you review some of the older movies!
Buy me a pint!
Next y'all gotta do the Roger Moore movies. DO EM.
This combo is just iconic and amazing. The game was the goat. The movie was my intro to bond. Epic.
This was the peak of gaming, everything went downhill from this point :(
What a game it was. Pre online meant you had to be in the same room as your mates. What a hoot.
Okay boomer
I liked the world Is not enough
GoldenEye 64 gave an incredible array of controller layouts, including several layouts that involved two controllers to be used simultaneously.
God I need a version of this film where the villain is referred to as Janice
You will all refer to me by the name... Janice.
Central Unlock Project Janice......sorry wrong movie
I tell you what that 27 mins just flew by. More of these extended CoGs please!
Gotta love how they recycled Sean Bean's character for Skyfall.
Eh, Silva from Skyfall has utterly different motives and philosophy. The only similarity they have is that they were both MI-6 agents at some point.
This movie and game were a very nostalgic hit. My dad worked at BMW, and got the Z3 roadster. Only one in NZ as promotion for the film. He would bring it home after work, and drop either my brother or myself at school the next day. Rock, paper, scissors for the passengers seat
