  • TR Tony checks in with a mid-week update on things at 'Arry The Stag! Having also received word on two fronts.. First from Practical Classics Magazine and a nice feature they've done - comparing 70's sports cars like for like. As well as a nice surprise for TR T himself. Secondly, from Chris, who has tackled his Mark Two Triumph Stag Dashboard during the Lock down and done a very good job on it indeed!
If you'd like an 'Arry The Stag! Badge of Honour free of charge, then go here www.arrythesta...
If you'd like to see the first Video TR Tony did on the Dashboard kit, then check out this link of the original film here • Triumph Stag - Dashboa...
Finally, the dashbaord kit came from the www.walnutdash... if you want to look them up. They do modern cars as well as Classics!
    Best wishes TR Tony!

Great video, keep 'em coming! As an ex Stag owner (sadly) I think the drive shaft mod is an excellent idea, the standard shafts suffer from "spine lockup" which results in a twitch in the tail when cornering, a most disconcerting sensation!

I liked the original dashboard - UNTIL I saw this burr walnut style conversion! AND I love the red Stag Owners Club r o u n d e l , on the beautiful steering wheel! HOWEVER, what s do I type in, to see the video of the FASTBACK Version, and also footage of its auction?

Put the gauges in the dash from the rear side than slide the veneer over the gauge cases then they will be perfectly aligned.

    Tony,
I can thoroughly recommend the CV jointed drive shafts. As others have mentioned, you no longer get the infamous "Stag Twitch" if you accelerate hard out a junction or off a roundabout. Not cheap at (now) over £1k a pair, but worth it in the long run.
    Stay safe everyone,
    Neil.

I bought one of these dashboards for a Honda Civic. The adhesive is super strong and you only get one chance to place it; you can't readjust. It's definitely a two, or more, person job as you don't have enough eyes to see all the edges being in alignment at the same time. Choose your helpers wisely, it's really easy to make a mistake and you might end up needing to get a divorce! In my case the kit was about a millimetre too short in width and just looked wrong. I phoned the company, they told me to peel it off (which destroys it) and return it. They gave me a full refund. This is not an easy job in my opinion. Also it's not veneer, it's plastic with a wood print on it and looks like plastic. Are you really sure you want to do this to your Stag?

Hi Tony. If ever we get together again (which I hope we do), you are welcome to have a drive of my Manual overdrive :-)

I would imagine that if you slide a couple of the smaller gauges through the new veneer when fitting, it will all tend to locate itself over/ in the holes as you drop it down onto the actual dash. Extra hands will help obviously...
The new veneer is actually quite like the stuff fitted in the Rover 75.

@@ArryTheStag Not all is lost if you decide later to remove the makeover dash... use the Lighter fuel to dissolve the glue!! like yourself I've used lighter fuel for many years.
