For whatever reason they had the Northern California Youth Choir singing (they mainly only featured rock bands)and they sang this awesome song. I felt something tugging at my heart when they sang. About 1 year later Jesus washed all my sins away! ❤️

I just love everything about this, even the clothing and the filming in black and white. It’s simplicity has resurrection intertwined within it.

One of the greatest events in my life was the concert I attended at The prestigious O'KEEFE CENTRE in Toronto in the summer of 1970, (I think) when as a student I got a standby @2.00 ticket to see Jose Feliciano, and his opening act, The Edwin Hawkins Singers. Will always remember it...The fellow playing the bongos was in the lobby at intermission, amongst other participants, but he sure had the majority of fans in his corner.

The great Edwin Hawkins, came up with this terrific arrangement, gave it a tremendous gospel beat & tempo, added some really nice chord changes, giving it a whole new life! I love it . . . Praise God! The original can be found in the great old Church Hymnals, it is quite simple.

I guess she left in 1969 because she performed this song at Big Sur (September 1969) without the Edwin Hawkins Singers. Edwin Hawkins obviously replaced Dorothy with a singer who could replicate Dorothy's performance. Shirley Miller does a pretty good job but, listening to this closely, she is not as powerful in the lower register as Dorothy. It's that richness that Dorothy gave to the lower register that made the song such a huge hit imho. Thanks for pointing this out 👍

I thank God for the back in the day Christian songs. They truly lifted Jesus Christ up and Jesus said , if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. That’s all I listen to. The new songs don’t even mention Jesus Christ name. I can never tell if they be sing about Jesus Christ or a lover. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy. Come Lord Jesus Christ.

Was 26, after having a heavy day at work, would come home, laid down on the carpet and listened to this song. Was not saved, knew very little of Christ; nonetheless, this song got deep down in my soul. 3 years later a man I hadn’t seen in 7 years spoke to me of Jesus and I was born again. Oh happy day! Talk about a seed coming to fruition. Thank you Lord and thank you Dorothy Morrison. Glory!

I thank God for the back in the day Christian songs. They truly lifted Jesus Christ up and Jesus said , if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. That’s all I listen to. The new songs don’t even mention Jesus Christ name. I can never tell if they be sing about Jesus Christ or a lover. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy. Come Lord Jesus Christ.
