    Let him meditate how he wants to meditate. You can’t force somebody to do something how it works for YOU. He is not YOU. Men wake up with higher levels of cortisol than women do. What he is describing makes PERFECT sense.

    I have BPD as well. It’s difficult, I have had drs tell me ‘it’s not a real diagnosis’ and ‘all women have it.’ It has been a nightmare and so hard to hold friendships and relationships. I also have Hoshimoto’s which messes with my thyroid and all that controls! I also feel so lost and wish I could find something I love and commit to. You’re an inspiration! Thank you all for this interview 💕 Please know that it has at least helped one person. ✨

    Meditation is unique to everyone.. just because you Meditate how you Meditate... doesn't mean it's gonna work for someone. It bothers me that people don't meditate because someone projects how it should be. Just let him do it however he wants or not at all

    Just want to make a correction as someone with Bipolar 2 disorder- borderline is actually not a mood disorder the way Bipolar is. It’s a personality disorder, which is just as difficult and valid to manage. But that’s an important distinction!

    OMG I love the comments about how BPD is attributed to trauma. Because it so is! When Mari said linked to lack of affirmation and love when you're younger... BAM! It's more like presence and validation. Ain't nothing wrong with taking the path of least resistance and seeking medical help to recover. Love!

    My mother is a huge trigger and a biggest main cause in my traumas. I removed her from my life fully. Best thing I’ve done for myself. Alongside removing her - I removed all of her side of the family due to them being all the same triggers. There’s so much to this obviously, but this is what I can say briefly enough

    I've heard that trauma 'study' referenced before - "Would you take it back, knowing what you know now". As a survivor of childhood abuse, which I'm sure contributed to my brother's suicide and my other brother's meth addiction, and years of my own pain and struggles, would I take it back? Ahhhh - yes? Yes, 1million times, yes.

    I wish she would more specific about what was SO traumatic,because I feel like a lot of times people act super irrationally and then just say
    “oh I have trauma “ but they don’t explain what that trauma is. So then I tend to think they’re either blowing it out of proportion or , they’re just completely making it up.
    Whereas I feel like people who actually have trauma like myself are totally cool with just laying it all on the table. Like I’m not just gonna say I have PTSD from childhood trauma because that sounds like I’m lying. I’m gonna say, oh yeah big loud men trigger me because my Dad was an abusive alcoholic and he used to hurt me. Idk maybe I’m out of line but I feel like people over use the term trauma and just use it to describe times in their life that were more difficult than normal and that isn’t the actual definition.

  • @robinharris4247
    @robinharris4247 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    Genetically thin is a rare thing...........those people tend to have a hard time gaining weight. Most people who are a normal good weight exercise some control over their intake of food and most often move throughout the day. Most everyone can get fat if they eat shit and don't move. The reason I say that is I, as a fit female now 58 but have been fit all my life ( I am a physical therapist and my career has mostly been in sports medicine) but all my life people have said I am lucky I can probably eat whatever I want (because I am tall and thin with an athletic build) but Hell No!!! I watch what I eat, I rarely eat out and I work my ass off.

      Exactly!! Most skinny people just don't like to eat much or they are just skinny fat. All my "natural" skinny friends eat maybe once day and that's it. They just aren't addicted to food like other people.

    • @AshleySmith-rm2bl
      @AshleySmith-rm2bl ปีที่แล้ว

      My daughter's dad is naturally thin. We were together for almost 10 years and in that time i saw him put so much food in his body trying to gain weight. He would drink weight gainer shakes left and right and at most he would gain 5 pounds. His metabolism is just insanely fast. Even at work he didnt move too much, he wasnt doing extra movement anywhere. But his body was always burning extra calories.
      This triggered my eating disorder bad because I didn't want to be fat standing next to him.

    • @robinharris4247
      @robinharris4247 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AshleySmith-rm2bl sad thing is he probably wanted to gain weight so bad and eating that much food is tough!!! Especially if you don't like that feeling of being full. I bet it would be tough living with someone like that if you struggle with an ED.

    • @hannahhaleyatx
      @hannahhaleyatx ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A lot of times healing must happen outside of the relationship of the person who hurt you. It’s her decision if she wants to tell the mom, it could cause trauma if the mom doesnt respond appropriately

    I loved this conversation so much! But there is one thing that I have to get off my chest... It bothers me so much that our system has to put labels on people... Don't we all feel 'the emptiness inside'? Aren't we all suffering from 'severe mood-swings' and don't know how to deal with our pain...? Don't we all have huge difficulties with relationships? They are not individual problems!! They are the consequence of our complex world and society!! The way Mari deals with her 'BPD' is the right way! Not taking toxic medications!!!! Why not shake off the label aswell...? Maybe she doesn't know it yet, but she doesn't need it!!

      Yes totally agree, it called just having emotions. Sometimes you are happy, sometimes anxious sometimes sad. It's normal, you don't have to be called something

      Omg. That's a HUGE oversimplification. No, BPD isn't 'just having normal emotions' and 'having normal human mood swings'...BPD is far more intense and lasting than a "typical" human emotional experience. BPD have the highest rate of suicides of all disorders. Have you thought about unaliving yourself every day this week? No? Congrats, you probably don't suffer BPD!! Were you abused and neglected as a child? No? Congrats on that too!! Do NOT invalidate the horrors that some people live with on a day to day basis simply because YOU don't understand them. Your mood swings and unhappiness are not equivalent to a horrific disorder borne of trauma and abuse. Sit down and be quiet.

      @@2sides_2everystory When an estamated 6 percent of the population has 'BPD' and over 1 in 4 people have 'a mental disorder' it is not 'a personal problem'... it is a societal problem

      BPD is not normal emotions. It stems from childhood emotional neglect and not having a sense of self hence the feelings of emptiness. There is a new concept coming out in the field called CPTSD - complex post traumatic stress and I for see personality disorders such as BPD being put under that umbrella eventually.

    BPD - does that explain why she has some sentences in a British accent and others in American accent? Like she's a prisoner to her brain/mouth as to what comes out...

      It may also have to do with the fact that she grew up moving around, she was born in the UK and moved to New York so she has bits of both accents.
