- Dan demonstrates and talks you through how he goes about mixing a base glaze - the glaze alone should yield an acceptable white which can also be inked to create a crackle effect. Using this base glaze you can go about experimenting by adding various oxides in varying percentages to come up with personal colours and effects of your own.
Fascinating, I love all those pots on the shelves too!!
Wow that was very interesting indeed. Thank you so much for sharing. I often wondered how glazes were made.
Thanks a lot for sharing. It is very interesting for those of us who are starting in the world to make our own pots.
What a wealth of knowledge and skill. You make it sound so easy, could easily listen to you all day. Thanks for sharing! Hope you're well and making more videos soon.
Thank you for your kind comments and I do hope to make some more videos when my cameraman is available.
Love the bright yellow glaze . ❤ love watching skilled Artists at work .
Thanks so much 😊
Useful info as always Dan and the same recipe as my base glaze 👍

Very generous as always
Thank you.
😊 thank you for sharing all your wisdom Dan ❤
You are so welcome
Hello thank you for details and the step by step demo. Can you add what cone you fire to? most appreciated
I don't use cones - I fire to 1222ºC and soak for 35 minutes (for stoneware)
Thank you for sharing Dan. Always a font of wisdom. Could you say if this glaze can be brushed on, or just for dipping?
Really only suitable for dipping or pouring, but there's no reason why you shouldn't try brushing the glaze on.
@@danbartonslifewithbonsai745 thanks again. I might give it a go.
