  • In this video Dan demonstrates some of the different techniques he uses from time to time when potting regular bonsai pots or accent pots. It’s a bit of a "mish-mash of techniques" but does show some interesting ideas that you may find helpful. At the end of the video, he shows how to make two very simple pots from some of the left over bits of clay that are cut off ‘slabs’, or bits of unused coils. Truly something from nothing and dead easy to follow.

    Thanks for taking so much time and efforts to introduce all these techniques and philosophy to us potters and normal people!!! Sharing knowledge is so important…!

    Excellent video and a great tutorial on pot making. I always enjoy videos like this, as they're almost like 'making of' videos or 'behind the scenes'.

    I love your diverse and creative thought lines my friend, but also, however random the pot appears, the pure attention to detail in each and every piece you produce.

    Very interesting/simple technique with the knife, I will be trying it out myself with one of my next textured pots!

    Just found your channel - so enjoyable watching, listening and learning. Thank you for passing along your creative spirit/soul and techniques. I too use scraps and off cuts to make right at the time - I'm not too thrilled about the reclaim process so my goal is to use up everything right at the time in the moment.

    I am just starting making bonsai pots… thank you, Dansai, for making such fascinating videos! Can you possibly leave a link to that Japanese texture episode you gained inspiration from? ❤❤

    I wonder if the relief could be done in a lighter-colored clay by layering and carving through somehow, perhaps, just to make the patterns pop a bit, or something more ostentatious or trippy.

    Sitting here in wonder just watching you producing your pots for the forthcoming show which should be a great success. I would like to ask you a couple of questions if I may, have you ever made a pot and after it is finished you don’t like it and have to start again or scrap it, 2nd question some of your earlier pots have two dents on the rim which I assume are made with your thumbs I have one with them on the rim what was your reasoning for putting them there, did they serve a purpose or just decorative. Regards Joe

    • @danbartonslifewithbonsai745
      @danbartonslifewithbonsai745  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The answer to 1st question is No - I always manage to make pots to my liking and I've made several thousand. 2nd question - the indentations on some of my 'primitive' pots is to bring variation to the rim for aesthetic enhancement.
