In the case of a mugging situation, it is recommended to give your money or belongings and comply with the attacker's demand. It's always better to be safe than sorry. However, in a similar type of knife attack with a different objective, such as violence or a tentative of abduction, a static knife attack should be stopped and controlled by trapping the knife hand and striking your attacker right away.
Remember however, that prior to making your move; you will need to use a strategy called "pattern interrupt" to distract your attacker. This process starts by asking him questions, so that he cannot focus on cutting you. As your attacker will be answering or thinking about your question, that will be the best time to deliver your powerful blows. These first strikes will take him by surprise. You definitely want to bank on that.
To recap, if the attacker wants your money or your belongings give it away (but always stay on high alert and ready to fight back if things get worse). Alternatively, if your attacker wants to bring you to another location or wants to abduct or hurt you, you will need to take action at one point in order to save your life.
Your attacker will dictate your next move.

Fighting someone who has a knife you will be cut, there not cutting with intent. If u really fight someone woth a knife be prepared to gt slashed or minor cuts with someone with intent to cutt or even kill.
You've never used any of this in a fight.... That belt, might 'hurt' when you get hit, but you're only gonna get him once before the guy just beats the hell outta you for hitting him with the belt. The chair is the only useful thing, and once he takes that from you, he's gonna beat you with it...ya'know, cause you hit him with a chair and a belt.
