This is great! Loved this video. We recently retired last October and are navigating retirement life. It's been amazing so far. We'll be visiting Rome in May and can't wait.
Ola travelingexpatlife, We hope you fall in love as much as we have. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel! Have a wonderful day, Alan, Leslie and Wolf
we retired to Cuenca, Ecuador. we have nowhere near $1 million dollars saved for our retirement but we live very well here in Cuenca on just our social security. we've lived in cuenca for nearly 12 years now and we have not touched a single penny of our retirement funds yet. in fact, our monthly budget is less than $3000 and that includes 2 cats with special needs diets and private health insurance. don't have a car because we don't need one here. we walk everywhere. we spend less than $30 a month on busses and taxis. if we had continued to live in the usa we'd be living on the streets by now. the usa is no place for retirees!
Ola timothy Thank you for sharing. We had Ecuador on the top of our list when choosing. It is nice to be able to use the USD,. No exchange rates to deal with. We appreciate you sharing your Cost of living as you know understanding the true cost of buildinga wonderful retirement is at the top of the list. Wee appreciateyour support. Have a wonderful day Alan.
Ola Nada And we are glad you are here with us. We have a lot of fun going on these adventures. Spending hours and hours filming and editing in order to share our experiences. Thank you so much for watching. Have a wonderful day Alan and Leslie
Thanks for showing us a bit of Rome. We also heard a BMO survey, you would need about 1.7 million to retire comfortably. I think these numbers are just a guidelines as someone could retire comfortably with a lot less assuming you don’t factor in your residence, pensions etc. I believe the 1.7 million is total asset allocated for drawing down income in retirement. Anyhow, keep up the great work 🇮🇹 🍷
Ola! Thanks for watching. Any number is a guideline. You have to manage your budget. However the 1.8 is a number that people think they need, not one that Schwab states you must have. Have a wonderful day!
Thanks for sharing. The National Museum of Rome is composed of 4 difefrent sites that house some of the oldest and most spectacular masterpieces in forms of sculptures, paintings and other artifacts.
Ola Patrick We stayed in an airbnb in the Navona area. Where we were able to walk to see all the main historical sights. It was perfect. Have a wonderful day Alan
Speaking of retirement and costs, I do hope your adult son is contributing to your household expenses equally. Sorry but I work at a University and have experienced too many "helicopter parents" who think they are helping their kids but are really doing a ton of damage - to their kids and themselves.
we visited rome probably 20 years ago. it was a phenomenal city. we found the parthenon and the trevi fountain by accident on our very first walk. restaurants were great. and yes, we tossee coins in the trevi fountain!

The best museum in Rome is MUSEO NAZIONALE ROMANO. It is a museum for intelligent people!
